I'm not sure I want the stock bumpers on, but I do agree not 35 lights in front! I do need to put a winch on and may be all that goes there. Maybe I've seen too many woodys with roof rack surfboards to have not considered a rack. Maybe just want to keep the body profile down and sleeker for contrast with the frame/suspension.

OK . I see what a tubular pre runner style is. I like that so will design and fab one up to fit the Merc .. in the rear too.
-
I'll have to look those up .. this isn't a familiar style for me .. just been seeing a lot of raised trucks around that look good. Not sure what "pre runner" is ..

Yeah .. the door wood trim is a bit wider than the hood but it should look natural . or at least acceptable. Been looking at the body for some mild custom updates and the front is in glue and something I like. I inserted some tube into drilled out headlight holes and drilled out the turn signals to accept the custom tail lights from the Revell Sedan. These have a similar pointed shape to the headlights. I will shape the leading edges and may file the headlights back. Then some putty to mold them all in. I have a winch coming to mount in front .. maybe no front bumper ... some suggestions would be appreciated. The K10 truck frame fits very well ... the engine tucks up nicely into the Merc engine bay! Now to start distressing the wood! I have some ideas that will need testing on some scrap body ...

What Do New Kits Have Inaccuracies
Foxer replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I avoided even opening this thread rehash but now I did All these experts should just realize everything follows this basic business fact which I spouted all during my career .. There are 3 things in every job .. Quality, Cost and Time ... pick two. You can NEVER have all three. -
Welcome to the forum, Don. I'm sure your brother would approve of such home for his work ... most of us can only hope our stash and partial builds end up in the hands of someone who will appreciate and enjoy.

A pair of Italian beauties: Ferrari 250 California and Dino 246
Foxer replied to Matt Bacon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Glad to see this here as I'm working on Monogram's 250 GTO and the engine has been fighting me, though it is an ebay junker to start. Your engine looks good but wondering how you fit those 6 wires into the cast on valve cover tube. I replaced it with the smallest tube I could fit .. slightly oversize but looks ok. I also user v to replace the intake trumpets. Both bodies look great. -
What was your 1st 1 to car
Foxer replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I bought my aunt's 14 year old '51 Plymouth in my first year of college so I didn't have to take two buses to classes. I masked the fake wood dash and sprayed it gloss black. Some mostly black seat covers from JC Whitney, black dye on the rest of the interior and red front seat belts gave the interior a newer look. Tuck and roll was not in my college budget. The outside got a set of JC Whitney fake mag hubcaps .. not THAT bad looking, -

History of AMT
Foxer replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Always good to see a model car story, but this writer had no idea what his "toy car" story was about to the customers. I was 10 in 1958 when I bought my first AMT kit and they were never "toys" to me. -
Major Win with Major Build at NNL East 2015
Foxer replied to Trucker Al's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Congratulations! I couldn't make it this yeah but I know there are a lot of great junior builders in attendance ... winning that is a high honor! -
You've got the body down to very pleasing proportions! .. hope you don't take that as a bad thing ..
-
A peanut butter and jelly look for sure, Miles! I really like effect you ended with!

Good looking build, Shay. When I was living in Germany I was strongly considering having an Europa back to the States ... that was in 1968. I ended up returning before I expected and ended up with a Triumph TR4A I got used here. Your build looks really good ... and gets my juices flowing ... )) I have this kit but haven't started it as I never really had one and don't know what color I would have gotten

Thanks for the photos .. and a very good set they are! Everyone's paint looks spectacular .. something very difficult to get in a photo. And no flash .. must have been very well lit this year.

The best looking of the bunch ... and I'd drive that one .. never want to drive any of the others ... eeeek!

he should have gotten the Keyless option

Dodge Grand Caravan LE snap kit
Foxer replied to crazyjim's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks like something from the Cannonball Run Sleeper thread this year. -
Looks like a great one here .. thou I'm a bit disappointed there seems to be an engine missing. What's with the Japanese and no engines .. outside looks are all that matters I guess.

More hood fitting .. it's very close. I glued some short .02" strips into the front hood radius and clamped the hood in place to shape the strips. Then I puttied up the space left. Here's a few photos just before a primer check coat and after more sanding, filing and adding some thin gap-filling strips to raise .01" and close the side gaps. Also under the front edge between the radius pieces. After primer .. not too much to tune up here .. ))

Oh, that poor thang ... very nice job!

Does BareMetal Foil (BMF) go bad over time?
Foxer replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It must be due to my never finishing much but I still have a sheet I bought in the mid 90's that I still use .. have never had any problem. Some areas I have to avoid but think they look bad due to all the handling over the years for small jobs. It just seems like luck getting a good sheet as they seem to experience quality problems from time to time. -
Nice job on those little buggers .. they look really good!
