I've been really interested to see these two kits as it seems with both an American '68 or '69 could be built! I believe the one shown here must be the German '68 with those bumpers. The other kit released does have American '68 bumpers, at least on the box photo. We have a few VW experts on the forum and I'm hoping they will go through the parts for us.

My daughter's GMC Van, the first build I COMPLETED in 20 years took a beating on the way back from NNL East this year and it's taken this long (from April) to put it back together. The body was epoxied back on today. Just the rear springs and the mirror and it can finally go to her hands!

Hard to believe it's been 50 years . . . today.

I was a senior in HS and they waited until the end of classes for the day to announce it! Try that today! -
Weird cars!

That would be cool to make one of these horse drawn cars .. some options: http://www.deviantart.com/artisan/?view_mode=2&order=9&q=Shire+horse#skins http://www.breyerhorses.com/pleaselogin?failed_uri=%2Fclub_home http://www.farmtoysonline.co.uk/toy-horses-riders-accessories-124-scale/c123 http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/psr/psr47021.htm seems to be many horse figures in 1/24 available! -
Ferrari 340 Competizione FINAL PICS UP.....Getting casted!
Foxer replied to Kennyboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It's been wonderful following this ,,, amazing to my eyes! I do have one question ... I was surprised to see it painted before sending out to master resin copies. Won't the paint get ruined somewhat, if that is even a factor for a resin master? I would think your final result would be the resin body to get the good paint? I think this is just my not being familiar with the needs for a master for a resin body. -
Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm going to do as Ken advises and sand it out and clear it. I'm going to get some new paint in the meantime and will probably try a coat of that. Do you think the fact the paint was old could have been the main problem here? Both bodies are rough as seen near the mirrors.

The paint pretty much came very rough as can be seen in the photo. Number one, the paint was old ... I used it to touch up the 1:1 around 1993. Number two, I think the lacquer thinner evaporates before the paint hits the body. Can't find anything that says it's slower. A few spots that I got close and wetter were smoother and shiny. I never got more than 3" away with the air brush. It was all thinned to milk consistency. I'm going to sand and smooth it out and take a trip for new paint an hour away at the Porsche dealer. Here's a shot close to the hood latch pieces I made .. I'd be happy to hear any thoughts about this as I hate painting, even though I'm not ignorant about painting and have gotten good ones.

Alternate-Reality 1935 Allison-powered LSR car

I like this idea. Those fenders look just right .... it would HAVE to have fenders! -
This is a big one, though not that much to see ... both 944's are ready for paint! Now I better check that the Guards Red Touch UP paint is still good. Here's shots of both bodies, an '84 and a '91 where you can see the differences .. The WIP for the '84 is here, so I'm not updating this post for both.

I had a Chris Craft I had built when I was around 10 that I brought to my cousin's pond to try sailing it. It did float pretty well when the air raid sirens went off and it got bombarded .. by rock bombs. Other armor models went under the flames because of the awesome black smoke they let off. The destruction I most regret was when I went off to college and threw out all but about a half dozen car models to leave room in my parents small house. I figured I'd never go back to hacking plastic. When graduated and cleaned my last things from the house the last of my favorites and contest winners got trashed.

They sound like jokes I'd make up ... but I assume you've dropped the idea he's a wannabe comic ...

As they said about the 1:1's on Japanese roads! Nice to see what these kits encompass

The BMF is so sharp edged I cut my finger just looking! Spectacular build!

Just a little update to show this is being worked on ... along with the '84 944 build as I try to get both ready for the same Guards Red paint. I notched the battery to look like a battery with the cover off as it appears in the photos. A simple job for added detail. The hood latch receiver at the front was made from an angle under the nose with the mount from sheet. The silver receiver on top is all but done but has to wait until the red paint is done. The fender well was cut to allow an overflow bottle from a Testors 944 to fit. It's ready for paint now. The wheels are ready to get their black centers ... as soon as I mask them with a little tape, that is.

I'm ashamed I somehow missed watching most of this build but I did make it finally ... You building is a pleasure to see and at your age I happy to see you jump into making anything you don;t have and figuring a way to do it. That is the spirit of this hobby since I was doing it when I was your age ,,,

I'm a paper saver too. I always layout decals along the top of the sheet and print. I cut then just cut off the top with the decals and use it again next time. So far, running the paper multiple times through the printer hasn't affected anything.
