  1. Thanks for the comments. I do usually use the highest resolutions I can to start with. These stickers were from digital photos I took with only a 1.5 Megapixel camera some time ago, but it was still high enough that I reduced the final prints. Just about any digital camera will take good images to use for decals on 1/25 models. Do be careful of downloaded images because most are low resolution. But, for 1/25 decals it doesn't usually take a huge image. I printed to the decal sheet at about 800 dpi which is approximately half the resolution of my Epson printer. I find 800 dpi a good compromise between max photo resolution and a readable print on the lower quality decal paper. I'd try doing a good photo quality print on whatever printer you have. The biggest worry is too much ink that would run and lose detail. All the decals on these doors were printed on white decal paper as no ink jet can print white. The only trouble is you have to cut the decals close to the image. You can see some oval ones I had trouble getting smooth cuts on because they are so small. If I get ambitious I might try some others and apply on top. I always make 3 copies of all decals on the sheet so I have some to make repairs with. I use Photoshop for all my image editing and resizing, but there are many reasonably priced alternatives. This was pretty light, so feel free to ask me anything as it comes up.
  2. Bring your CLOSE UP lens, Charlie! .. Found some old bumper stickers and plastered them on! EDIT: and here's the 1:1
  3. Wish they could have found that of me! I was drafted and sent to Neckarsulm. Some of you may recognize that town as the site of an auto plant making NSU's. Later they build Porsche 924/944's of which I had five. Now it's a huge Audi plant. Cars and beer ... my kind of town!
  4. OK then, I'm going off too ... I never liked beer before going into the Army and getting stationed in Germany for two years. NOW I know what real beer tastes like and have been drinking it ever since... when I can find it. All the micro-brewers now make it much easier, but I've settled on Sam Adams. It's in the taste of German beers and it's local to Massachusetts!

Best excuse ever for doing a pink Ferrari!
  6. ?? Do the people at RC2 drink Bud or something??
  7. Think finding a roll of film might be tough ... It would have to be slide with an image of a white wall with purple light on it I'm going to have to try the smoke gray on a piece of it though!
  8. I have some purple tinted report covers I'm using unless something else shows itself. They are very thin and lightly shaded but will do. I'm just making them slightly larger than the windows and gluing to the inside. The thinness WILL help hide them at least.
  9. Whoa Ryan! Thank's so much for this. May 8 luggers the world over change your wheels!
  10. The side window is in place with a brass sheet back lapping the body and epoxied in place. It feels nice and solid. I can get back to the BMF now. The body is posing for another stance check after after most of suspension pieces are glued in place. The front tire is just resting in place. It needs a slight move downward from where it is. I'm happy with the suspension jacking now.
  11. It seems to have passed Hawaii with little incident according to first reports, but California's coastline will bunch it up more so ... hope for the best!
  12. I looked and only have a couple older ones ... the second one is about 10 years old, but I look more like my Dad in the first one now.
  13. There are always questions posted on this so I'm sure it would be appreciated.
  14. I agree with Lee. Real trim has seams at the corners and the foil looks good with overlaps ... if you can even see them. This is two techniques that both work well, but I'm too cheap to waste this expensive material foiling over dead space.
  15. The detail you're putting into this is fantastic ... and makes me think you have the 1:1 sitting out in the garage!
  16. yah .. and I like them!
  17. Berkshires, namely Lanesboro. Think I'm the only one this far west. See ya all at MassCar in 2 weeks!
  18. MCM sailboat fuel IS eco friendly ... it's made from recycled plastic sprue.
  19. WOOT! Detroit is back! That's a powerful group, better than GM even.
  20. hehe .. I've seen that one and it's a goody.
  21. hehehe .. Virginia Beach?? ! I just wish it would get so cold up here in the Berkshires. It hasn't stopped snowing here yet. Good to hear you're on the way to recovery and unpacking recovery.
  22. I keep staring at that freaking blue ... what a color, shiny or not! Just something about it ...
  23. Welcome and I'm much like you. Started at 8 and now 64, although there was something like 30 years void between. I always seem to be in locations with no model car clubs near so mine were also pretty my for my viewing. This forum has opened me to the world with no hesitation to display anything ... even mistakes! It's all because of the people here. I like that Willys and the shot angle really makes the photo!
