  1. I bought mine on Amazon.com for $23 and free shipping from Supreme Hobbies in Gilbertsville, PA - it was delivered last night. I've been watching every local hobby shop, including Michaels/AC Moore, between Annapolis and Funkstown for the last couple of weeks. No luck so far. I will be getting more of the kits, so I'll be keeping an eye on the local stores.
  2. I just got mine tonight too, and I'm pretty pleased. One piece tires (online instructions and the instructions in the box show two piece), molded in white, two full sets of glass (stock and racing windshields, each with a rear window and tail lights), and a set of exhaust headers with trumpet/SuperTrapp type pipes, along with the other racing equipment. There's some flash, but not too bad. I've had most of the other issues and this is my favorite, mainly because of the white plastic and one piece tires. IIRC, all the other issues were in colored plastic. Nothing much else has changed. Nice decal sheet with red, black and white PORSCHE door stripes, gauges, and other racing type decals. I'm thrilled to have it, and it's moved to the head of the build list.
  3. It seems there's more interest in maritime disasters than I thought there would be here. There's a website called www.lostliners.com that covers many of the sunken ocean liners and cruise ships, along with their operators.
  4. It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but IIRC, the car was a four-eye C1 Corvette in the movie. A little more research shows it was a white 1960 Corvette. Of course, since it was fantasy animation, some latitude is possible. Google "heavy metal corvette" for pics and youtube clips.
  5. I measured the roof of my car in Bowie, MD, right at the intersection of I-95 and US50 just outside of DC. There was only (!) 18" of snow. If you're curious, that amount of snow will compress the suspension of a 2007 V-6 Mustang by 1" in the front, and 1-1/2" in the rear measured at the highest point of the wheelwell to the ground. I ought to figure out if that exceeds the GVWR .
  6. I would look into personal cloud devices. These are personal network storage that is accessible to your phone. I use a Western Digital MyBook Live to store all my music, pictures and documents, and is accessible to my phones, tablets, and computers. It works great with my Androids. You use the computer to copy your CDs to the drive, and then they are accessible from your phone/tablet no matter your location as long as you have a data connection.
  7. I do! I'm planning on living forever. I'm doing pretty good so far.
  8. What does a tree like to drink? Root beer. What did the eraser say to the pencil? You're sharp. Can I tell you a joke about a pizza? Never mind, you'll think it's cheesy.
  9. I think that's the first one I've seen in white. It looks really good. Nice job.
  10. I don't drive 124. Are they going to come out with a 125?
  11. Thanks! It's not as grim as I thought it was.
  12. Is there a British automobile manufacturer anymore? I thought all were sold to foreign companies or closed. I didn't realize McLaren was, but I know now.
  13. I followed a brand new shiny red Alfa Romeo 4C coupe into Skyline Drive at Front Royal, VA.
  14. AMT made several Rangers XLT in the range of 1993-1996, in both the standard and Splash variants. One of the Splash variants would be good, but you would need to modify/recreate the 99 grille and hood. I think the wheels were available in a AMT Ranger or Explorer kit, too.
  15. Very cool. I was in 1976-1992, permanently attached to Greenling (614), Birmingham (695) and Finback (670). I also rode Batfish (681), Tinosa (606), and Sunfish (649) for various lengths of time. I was an STS. Best job I ever had.
  16. My favorite is Testors Model Master Liquid Cement for Plastic Models (stock number 8872). It comes in a home plate shaped container with a very thin application tube. You can put the cement right where you want it in the amount you want, and it won't spill. It is fairly slow drying without a strong odor. It is supposed to be MEK based and suitable for ABS parts like Plastruct, too. It's all I've used for years, and have been quite happy with it.
  17. Saw a bright yellow Lamborghini Murcielago(?) roadster yesterday, and a 1966 Chrysler today, probably a 300, on K St. NW in DC.
  18. I like it - looks good. At first, I thought it needs a red vinyl top. Silver with a maroon/red top was a pretty popular combination back then. I'm glad you changed it. How did you lower the suspension, and by how much? I'm working on a non-S&H version myself. It won't be stock, though. Still working out the details.
  19. Depends on how much scratchbuilding you want to do. It's a typical diecast insert - no real detail much lower than the head. No block/oil pan/transmission assembly, and only a suggestion of the manifolds. It's fairly well detailed for a diecast, but I would think about all you could use would be the head/valve cover and air cleaner.
  20. I didn't mean to say the Comet was back out, just a historical comment on something to keep an eye out for. I don't know if it is back out.
  21. There was also a Motor Max 1971 Mercury Comet. It is very similar to the Maverick. Both have 6 cylinder engines, and are very nice for the price.
  22. You're welcome. It's a shame; I don't think Edge is quite ready for prime time. I like it a lot, but it doesn't have all, or even most, of the functionality of the more established browsers. Some sites seem to work much better with Edge, others work much worse. I hope upgrades come soon for Edge.
  23. Yes, I have had the same issue with two or three threads recently; the Gran Torino thread was the first, and then a couple of others. I'll get a message that says Edge was trying to load the page several times, and couldn't so it gave up. It usually happens on certain pages; page 13 of the Torino thread was fine, page 14 never loaded, page 15 loaded fine for a few replies then it started acting the same way. I was using Edge on Windows 10. When I use IE 11, everything is fine. I can see all the pages I couldn't see in Edge.
  24. I received an email last night that they are shipping the order that I placed July 3. It's grilles, hoods and taillights, about 5 items. No complaints, just information.
