  1. One I've wanted for a long, long time... MPC '77 Chevette! And this was an IMPULSE buy I picked up from Dean's simly because I happened to notice he had one on the shelf! The real reason I was at Dean's was to get THIS... Original AMT '62 Lincoln Continental annual kit. Yep, it has a thick layer or ten of black brush paint on it, the front and rear roll pans have been installed, the Go-Kart bonus parts are long gone, , needs some bodywork and the b-pillars put back in, and it's missing a few little parts here and there, but still reasonably complete, and very buildable! Now I just need a '61, '63, '64, '67, and '68, and I'll have one of every Lincoln Continental produced in the '60's.
  2. I wish I could say that. I have that disease that makes it impossible for me to build any of the 400 kits I already have on hand until I get the new one I've been waiting for.
  3. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... Well, on the plus side, I do at least have two of the Lonestar kits on layaway at my local shop!
  4. Has anybody seen this thing out and about 'in the wild'. (I.E., on hobby shop shelves or in stock at online retailers.) Everything I'm seeing says late May, but I'm hoping they'll open the gate just a wee bit sooner. I'm chomping at the bit for a couple of these!
  5. Thanks, Rodney! The paint job's pretty sucky on it, though! I built it five or six years ago, before I really cared about how my paint jobs looked. On the '79, I replaced the somewhat soft fron axle with a scratchbuilt one. The pig is a reinforced Ford 9" which I robbed from an AMT Pro Street '70 Super Bee, then I made new axletubes from styrene rod. (Might have been an old length of sprue, now that I think of it.) The Pro Street Super Bee kit also still includes a stock Dana 60 axle you could modify the same way. The '79 kit came with a transfer case, but the AMT Monster Trucks have a pretty nice one, so does the '72 Blazer kit. If I were building what you're building, I'd get another Dana axle from the Monogram F-250/350 kit, cut out the pig, and make up new axle tubes from plastic or metal to the desired width and offset.
  6. I pretty much went back to the drawing board when I built this '79 Ford- scratchbuilt body lift, and a suspension made up from scrap monster truck parts! I basically built the truck as an excuse to buy those Iroks! Yes, a stock '79 F-350 would not have coil springs up front, but this ain't no stock truck!
  7. I like Bob's rendition much better than the actual Mazda concept!
  8. Back from the dead! Well, sort of... Perspective is such a strange thing, a year or so ago, I really liked the light blue metallic paint, now I'm not so sure. I'm thinking of stripping it and refinishing it in a loud muscle car color, like a yellow or orange. I intended to use the Jo-Han engine,as it'actully pretty good, and I robbed the Revell engine for another project, but now I'm thinking of an Aurora V8 from a Shelby Series 1 with a supercharger added. All I did was stumble across the project a few hours ago, and my mind is reeling.
  9. The rash of early '60's Furies continues! Love it.
  10. Did you guys see that? A snail, a glacier, and the drifting North American continent just blew past Revell's new product rollout schedule...
  11. Impala surf wagon? Nice!!!! But I'm a Crown Vic fanatic, I'll always like this one.
  12. Very cool phantom. Oh, is that a '70 Chevelle on Galaxie Limited '46 whitewalls in the background?
  13. I always thought those were American Vectors. Learn something new every day!
  14. Shouldn't be too tough to do, I've considered trying it myself with the AMT '41 and Revell '48 droptop kits. The '41 hood looks like it might need reshaping to fit against the Revell cowl, but other than that it looks pretty straightforward, aside from a LOT of cutting and test fitting.
  15. Loved seeing this one go together. I actually like this one better than the actual Mazda concept.
  16. It's a Promolite 2000 resin kit, Steve. Got it directly from Tom Coolidge, but sadly, he no longer casts it... though I hear Jeff Ballard is considering casting a '61 Fury at some point in the future... Thanks for the comments guys! When I took off the masking after I shot the red, and saw it in the white/red combo, my first thought was "Yep, this'll be one of my favorites." That was before the foil and bumpers were added! Love the stories about the ugly ol' Mopars from back then, and I do have a Jo-Han '62 Dart kit I hope to be starting on shortly.
  17. One of my favorites. A car so ugly, it's gorgeous! This is the Promolite 2000 resin kit, and aside from the Torq Thrusts (AMT 63 Vette) and AMT Firestone Wide Ovals, it's box stock, with lowered stance and shaved scripts. I usually hate red cars, but I thought pearl white/pearl red would look good on this one.
  18. Very cool, especially considering the scale! Didn't Heller do one of these in 1:24?
  19. Very nice! Is this the one molded in that terrible red plastic?
  20. Not to be Mr.Nitpicky, but I believe Stevens International reissued it, not Model King. Model King DID reissue the '79 F-350... might be bashing that kit with this one sometime soon...
  21. The good thing is the nose on the Skyhawk is pretty flat and angular, scratching one up for the MPC Monza shouldn't be to big a pain. Somewhat related note, I do have one of those MPC Cavaliers ('83 model year, I believe), and I'm in the process of converting it into an '83 Olds Firenza!
  22. Check out Ken Hart (khart)'s post on page 3. You can also use Purple Power or Super Clean, if those products are available in your area. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36800&pid=464205&st=40&#entry464205
