  1. I know it is much better than the Revell body. The one thing to Remember about the Revell series that we've had since 1971 is they're from 1971! Few funny cars from 1971 had that style tin or seat. I'm unaware of any national level cars (and yes there were local nitro cars back then) that had that style chassis in 1973. The upright chassis design also was quickly outdated. The Revell Duster body was not widely used. The Whipple and McCullough and King and Marshall cars may be the only ones. Later versions of the Revelloution car had a different body style. Only the Charger body is the only part of the first releases (Gene Snow Charger and Revelloution Duster) that seems accurate without modifications for a car beyond the '70-'71 seasons. Now back to your original question, modify or not. Don't modify unless you have a specific car that requires it. I'm hopeful tonight to post a composite of the Revell Duster and the McEwen Duster showing the correct mods. I think I have side shots of each that will allow that. Mike
  2. Looking at that grill I realize the best thing to do is replicate the grill on the decal sheet so I can put it on in multiple sections. One for the center, one for the lights one for the headlights (they're raised slightly and another to overlay the side pieces. Mike
  3. I'll give you that.....I was comparing this issue to the original Garlits to the current reissue. I agree the original issues were different in boxes and decals. I think the only difference in the instructions was the header telling you what kit they were for. No offense intended. MIke
  4. Actually.....no. but its a slight no. My Garlits kit had rather nice M and H Racemasters. Besides that, only the box and decals were changed.
  5. The Garlits issue was also available in a white plastic. Mike
  6. Nice..... Could be a thought for a Christmas break project. Mike
  7. Actually I disagree on the Hot Wheels Duster. Note the position of the blower scoop compare to the first Whipple and McCullough car. Also the rear overhang is too great. Also the front grill area and the rear spoiler needs built up. I guess I'm a bit obsessive.
  8. Modifying the Revell to the eBay purchase may not be that hard. The greenhouse mod is pretty easy. The rear wheel opening is less moving the openings back but removing some of the overhang. The front end and center stripe isn't hard. The headlights..... Ahh.... the headlights. I can't think of a readily available source. Mike
  9. If you ever get around to casting the Daytona (I'm guessing it the '84-86 body), I want at least one.
  10. Chuck..... A Dave Peters body.....A Goodstuff body......Holy Resin! Those are two museum pieces. Good Stuff has been gone for at least ten years and Dave Peters for at least five before that. I'm working on a '71-72 Hot Wheels Duster. I'll more than likely modify the Revell part. By the way, if you have an extra Peters Daytona......
  11. Does anyone know the differences between the Comp Resins Duster and the Revell Duster funny cars? I've got a seat of decals coming in and I'm anxious to get started. Thanks, Mike
  12. A couple of things..... Some printing companies have a shrink wrap tunnel. They MIGHT do it although I'm doubtful. That part of their operation typically stays busy. At one time you could buy something similar in the craft section to wrap Easter baskets. Finally, you could get shrink film window insulation.
  13. Count me in the interested category. Looks educational.
  14. The large gold panels on the Slixx decals aren't gold. There's a cobwebbing effect but it allows the body color to shine through. Mike
  15. What version of a Mac are you running? Go to the Apple>About this Mac and post that. If its a G4 Mac, you may have to explore other version of Foxfire. If not, maybe I can help you figure something out. Mike
  16. I'm looking for decals to reproduce this body of Dyno Don's Cougar. I know Slixx offers the version with the gold panels. I'd much rather have the version that preceded that and was featured in most of the car mags at the time. I've attached an image. Thanks, Mike
  17. Your best choice chassis wise is the Revell Hawaiian. I'm not sure how close the wheelbase it but it should be real close. MIke
  18. This is a common problem. The soft rubber that Revell used may last ten years before it won't support the weight of the model. One thing you can do is fill the inside of the rubber. I know some have used strips of the carpet padding foam rubber. Mike
  19. Wow......great find. $16. I'll double your money. Mike
  20. Please note the topic was started in 2007! I'd love to have more details on how the engine was built.....but I'm not expecting it.
  21. Maybe I'll get a kit done before it is released but I will be getting this as soon as I can. I see a pro stock in my future.
  22. I think it shows really well although I wonder why you left the wheels chrome. I'm unaware of this being an option on either the TC's or TD's.
  23. Either way here's to happy and healthy!
