  1. I'm interested in the comments on this one. I refuse to use brake fluid as I've ruined a couple of kits with it. Easy off's nasty fumes cause me to have respiratory problems. I use 91 proof alcohol on some models with great sucess. Other paints it doesn't touch. I'm a great fan of Polly's Easy Lift Off (ELO). It's hard to find but worth the effort.
  2. Neither.....The decal looks too modern for this old school build. Pin stripping would be a better choice. Mike
  3. SAE dates back to its previous owner when SAE would take me more than half an hour to read. Model Cars hits me more often as a useful read. If they're both on a newstand, I'lll look at SAE first. Then I'll pick up the Model Cars mag. If I'm only going to buy one, it will be the Model Cars mag.
  4. A few of those I've seen. Several others are really helpful. Hopefully next week I'll be able to post my severely modified AMT body. Mike
  5. I'm interested in the 74-77 car. Guess I'm a victim of late night brain fade.
  6. I'm still on the road but brought with me an AMT Mustang II funny car that has been modified a great deal to be close to accurate. I'm wanting to replicate the '85 Blue Max. If you've got any pictures of this car you'd care to share, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, MIke
  7. For those wondering where I am please see: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60636
  8. First let me explain this post......I've dropped the ball on a few trades. They're still in my mind but circumstances are making it difficult for me to follow through. I hope to in a couple of weeks.....may even think about building something. A brief summary. June 14 I have some sort of medical issue. I totally loose it for no reason. Something is wrong. I am barely able to drive and seek medical attention. June 15- Doctor believes its a panic attack and suggest counseling June 18- Spend all day in a Photoshop Training Seminar. A Good Day June 19- I'm at my asthma doctor. I ask about meds causing the problem. He asks if I'm currently experiencing it. Yes. He orders me to my general practitioner for an EKG. After the EKG, my GP suggests I either go immediately to the ER or he can call the paramedics. My wife is there so we decide sh should drive. We run out of gas on the way to the ER. I now have a cardologist and I have an irregular heartbeat which has been causing the more increasing and more severe panic attacks. June 20- I receive a phone call from my wife to call my brother in law in Illinios ASAP. My sister isn't expected to live through the day. I travel from West Virginia to Kentucky to pick up my mother and travel to Normal-Bloomington Illinois. June 22- I get a phone call from the ER that X-rays indicate I have nodules on my heart. June 24- return home. June 25 Get CT scan and visit my cardologist. I'm doing much better on meds to control my heartbeat. I haven't scared my son or myself since starting them. I ask about Boy Scout camp. He suggests I go and try to "catch my breath." I BOOK to camp, a phone free, computer free world. June 29- the last night of camp we're told to either shelter in place in our tents or go to the mess hall. After initally deciding to shelter in place we decide to move to the mess hall. While driving there, the road is blocked by trees. We send the boys with a couple of leaders off. Those of us with vehicles try to get them where they are less likely to be damaged. June 30- No injuries. We leave camp and have to detour to get home. A two and a half hour drive is over five. Nearly two hours are spent waiting for gas. I arrive home with no power. My Internet access is McDonalds for breakfast. My man cave/modeling room is now a darkened cave. July 5- We're told it will be at least Sunday. As soon as we get power and are certain of no damage, we're on the road to the in-laws. This is seriously the only week we can travel as a family until November. SORRY I've dropped my end. I will pick it up in a couple of weeks. Mike
  9. Looks nice.....I've got the plastic Thor kit from about five years ago started that I need to return to. Mike
  10. Nope.....the originals all had the hood bulge. A lot of modlers would LOVE to see it restored. While the MPC Malaco gassers were not totally accurate, the Street Freak version is even more so. Its a good base if you're going to do a lot of scratch building to get it right but the emphasis is on "a lot of scratch building."
  11. I'd love you to do a tutorial on how you made the seat as well as the interior build up. Looks very real which is the goal of any replica.
  12. Two guys sharing an adult beverage. There's an International cab in the backyard. Looks at the other. "You know, LuiAnne has been moaning about wanting a new car." BillyBo, you need a truck. "I know." That red thing she drives ain't really worth much. Get me another. "You know they look like they fit together. Hand me that bondo." I work with photoshop almost everyday. If they're photoshopped, I'd tipp my hat to them. Although whoever did it has a sick mind.
  13. I'd look for the Revell Beretta Street machine. Body has over sized wheel wells and doesn't quite look stock. The wheelbase might be a problem.
  14. I've been having an urge to get a diecast like this, an alternative body style and see what I could do with it.
  15. I keep hoping that Michaels gets this. I don't have a Hobby Lobby near by and I'd really like to use a coupon for it.
  16. Have you been in my basement? Same problem although I am actually pulling stuff out. I've done soem nice work on an AMT Mustang II body that has sat untouched for fifteen years. I can actually see progress on it.
  17. The Shiloutte was one. Also include the '69 Corvair, '65 Pontiac, '63 Vette. There were several. May still be some on some dealer's shelves. They didn't sell very well.
  18. In today's market more so than in the past, what a willing seller and a willing buyer agree to. You may want to look at flea bay's completled listings as a guide.
  19. I so want these parts to try the same build. I've got the AMT ones but the Revell parts look so much "racier." Looks great and I'll be watching!
  20. I have to admit the Honda S2000 is one car I've always liked. I've thought once the kids go on to college or the PT dies, I'd get a Miata. After checking the price on these, in four or five years, they'll be a great bargain. I'd love to have one in 1:1 scale just like your build although I'd like the roll bars in either black or chrome oh......and left hand drive.
  21. The Clooney Batmobile......never existed. That movie was never released. At least any serious Batman fan wants to believe that. Actually all these Batmobiles seem to harken back to the Batmobiles of the 60's comics. The TV Batmobile looked nothing like what was in the comics prior to the TV show.
  22. Stunning......
  23. This is a combination I don't think I'd ever thought of. If you're wanting to take it a step further, what about the rear glass from the late model Corvette? When I read the title I thought that's going to be ugly and just not appealing. WRONG! I'm looking forward to see where you take this one. Looks like a good mental stimulus.
  24. One of the worst things about racing is that the legends we grew up with are slowly passing from us. I didn't follow Nascar when Cotton Owens was in his prime, but everything I've read tells me he was an amazing talent.
  25. This is so good.....I'm not sure whether I should be amazed or certain of my inferior abilities. You have done a great job on a kit that offers significant challenges. Your sharing of the build pictures are greatly appreciated. I doubt if anyone has ever built this kit to these standards. Salute!
