Mike I got it from Canadian Tire years ago..Its not the correct B5 Blue from that year but its as close as you'll get now..Its in the small can not like the Perfect Match they have now..You might find a B5 now, it will be from the new Challenger from a few years ago..Go to Gauthiers and ask for Kelsey and get her to order you a can....The clear made it look a little darker too...Nice talking to you and how are you doing?

Lindberg 1964 Ramchargers Dodge 330 SS
moparfarmer replied to tmathew1us's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I got a stock 330 Sedan thats been painted and polished and chromed waiting to be done for the last 10 years..Waiting for some experience before I tackle to finish it..The Belvedere I did turned out okay but would like some more experience to do the Dodge..Haven't finished a model in 18 years, so the Belvedere is the first -
Went to the"room " tonight and started polishing the 66 Nova..So I thought I would polish the roof of the Road Runner..Turned out okay but not as smooth as the Nova because I wet sanded it..Really thought the Road Runner and a 62 Fury I had done were good enough to just polish..Well I wet sanded the Road Runner now I've got to polish all of it..Went through on one side marker lite but they will be chromed then pained so it won't show..Hoping the paint shows like the roof of the Nova..Will work slowly as not to rush and screw thing up..Guess I should leave well enough alone..There is that little bit of OCD in me coming back..

Here is a picture of my 1970 Road Runner that is for our December meeting(Christmas) contest..Anything in the 70s..Installed a pillar post to make it like my real 1:1 was..Am going to use Rallye Wheels from either the Cuda or Challenger..Painted Duplicolor Perfect Match "B5" blue over Plasticote sandable primer(T235) Cleared with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel(smells and dries like lacquer) On the first two color coats had some blushing but then shot another coat in another part of the basement..Went on good then did the clear..Not needing to wet sand but will just polish with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 or Cleaner, then finish with Meguiar's Gold Class Paste..Meguiar's is the only polish I've used for models and my 1:1 cars for the past 28 years..Hope you like...

You should be very proud of your job..You've done an excellent job on a finiky kit..Be proud, very proud....
-
Very nice job on all of them..Really like the Ford truck..I notice you don't plumb and wire..You've done such a good job on your models you don't need too..All you got to do is build clean,clean,clean..You've done a very good job..

I did make a big mistake and I should have fixed it..I sanded out the dimples in the trunk where the pins are but didn't fill the divots on the left front fender..Haven't got any fill(I'd like to use Tamiya putty but don't know which to get, hard to sand or soft)..Am not going to now..The next one I will do all the body work..Is there a paintelss dent removal for plastic?

I just started the JoHan Oldies 1962 Plymouth Fury..Simple kit but with lots of flash..Great body detail, rest is kinda laking..Although I build box stock for reasons, I don't have the dexterity or patience for the wiring or plumbing since my stroke in 1998..The car is painted Duplicolor Perfect Match light blue and cleared with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel(smells and dries like lacquer) Will polish with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 or Cleaner then finish with Meguiar's Gold Class Paste..This doesn't need wet sand so I think the polish will do..Next pictures I will show when complete later in a few weeks(months?) Have a few others to show but tonight its the 62 Fury..Hope it meets the forums standards..

Yea, when you see the top view the Lindberg does look rectangular..The JoHan does look the most realistic.. -
Scale Finishes - Blotchy Paint
moparfarmer replied to sdbos777's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I find if you are using automotive lacquers(Duplicolor/Perfect Match etc) Tamiya primer is not good enough..You need a thicker primer like Duplicolor or Plasticote sandable primers..And possibly two coats then lightly sanded for adhesion of the top coat..Just my experience..- 24 replies

Steven, I noticed you've moved now..How do you like it? Nice town isn't it and not too far from Fargo..

Little Red Wagon was quick; mine advances slowly.
moparfarmer replied to Jon Cole's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Looking real nice..Wetsand and polish are my favorite parts of model building..Final assembly is my least favorite..Too many chances of glue marks etc..Your wagon looks killer... -
That engine color is hard to find..About 25 years ago when I restored my 64 Fury convertible I bought 20 cans of Plasticote Chrysler Engine Turquoise..Now you can get Duplicolor Chrysler Engine Green..Very close match but still hard to find..I did engines in Lindbergs 64 Belvedere and 330 2 dr post with the only can I had left..It still shot good and worked..I'll show you my engine on the Belvedere

Read on another forum that NASCAR okayed the Camaro because Dodge wouldn't come back if they couldn't use the Challenger and another manufacturer has a two door car..

Very nice looking ride..Looks very clean and well done..

How does your family deal?
moparfarmer replied to Jeff31293's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My wife is supportive but doesn't like it when she hears a loud voice(mine) swearing in "the room" . She often wonders how I have the patience to do modeling as I lose my temper very quickly..She's good about it and even doesn't complain of the paint smell when I paint..I don't buy many newer kits now, maybe just a good deal at our model meetings. She knows I don't like to spend now(waste) money on my hobby if I don't need things..My family knows I enjoy modeling and encourage me to do so more often..Both my sons tried years ago but sports and life made it not work..My grand-daughter built a snap PT Cruiser rag with my watch but never got involved much involved after that..Sports did it for her too.. -
Steve, that Plymouth when you are done will be like all your others, fantastic and clean..Have you re-located yet and how do you like your new place?

Here is a photo of my 62 Chev Bel-Air 2 dr ht..It was the last model I painted and finished 18 years ago before I had my slump..Painted 63 Chevrolet Autumn Gold(airbrush, clear out of rattle can) Wetsanded and polished with Meguiar's Cleaner then finished off with Meguiar's Gold Class paste..I figure this is one of my best..It was a fun kit and one of AMT's better issues(blue on box) Let me know the faults..Thank you...

Very striking especially with that color..Very clean and well done..But its not a JoHan...LOL

I find when polishing one of the most important things is the rag..Use only flannel, not t-shirts or stuff like that..It will leave fine scratches..I also use Meguiar's Cleaner or Scratch X 2.0 which I think has just a bit more abrasive..Then finish off with Meguiar's Gold Class paste..No I don't work for Meguiar's but have used their products on my 1:1s and models for about 30 years..Best you can get,bar none...
-
WOW! I can only dream about building models as good as that..Very well done and Clean,Clean,Clean....
-
It started out with the primer..I primed in black thinking it would make the color coats a touch darker..Wrong..Next was the color..I hate anything Toyota and Yota was getting even with me,,didn't cover well, showed marks etc..Never should have used Toyota color...LOL
