  1. Beautiful big scale build which I would love to see in person.
  2. Good looking Deuce. I like your colour choice.
  3. I took this photo with my old iPhone 8 in the bright sunshine so you can see that my Bergman-Gammell-Meyer Coupe is not black like the Coupe behind it but is actually a very dark brown
  4. I can hardly wait for this one. I have a 65 Comet in my stash that I was going to convert to a 64 with the AMT body. This will be better.
  5. #42 - This model completes the circle started with the first Hi-Boy Roadster in this retrospective in that it represents the sort of full-scale roadster I might build if I had the inclination and finances to do so. I was inspired by the great box art on the most recent release of the Revell ’29 Ford Roaster showing a young guy very happily driving his no-frills hot rod. The only thing I would change is to make it a Deuce. The Revell Model A kits have such a great combination of parts including a Deuce frame that I really did not have to do a lot to incorporate a Deuce Body. I did make the trunk lid operational with the louver lid from the 5W kit to show off the included components inside. The paint is Tamiya Blue Pearl.
  6. #41 - I have become very attracted to the hot rods coming out of the Rolling Bones Shop. They are tough looking honest hot rods. I started this build just planning to use a stock height 5-W with the flathead and wire wheels from the Todor kit until I saw a photo of Rolling Bones chopped 5-W Hi-Boy. The roof immediately got chopped and the frame horns were removed front and rear. In addition to the louvered hood and trunk the roof panel has Archer louver decals. I found a set of tall off-road tires for the rear and small tires for the front. The paint is Tamiya Dark Blue.
  7. #40 - This model is a tribute to probably the and most favourite 3-W Coupe of all time. It is known as the Doyle Gammell Coupe because he owned it when it appeared in magazines although he did not build it. The Revell ’59 Corvette kit supplied the fuel injected V-8. Like the original the interior has button tufted upholstery from Replicas & Miniatures. The top of course has been chopped. The rear suspension has a transverse leaf spring with a scratch-built triangulated 4-bar arrangement. The paint is Modelmaster Manganese Brown Metallic darkened with black enamel.
  8. Fabulous looking Hot Rod. Well built.
  9. Plymouth Belvedere with cross ram 423. There was also a 300C at this show with a cross ram. I had never seen one before.
  10. Thanks David Thanks Carl Thanks Bob - The colour is actually very dark brown. I did build a very similar 3W painted black so it will be interesting to see them together.
  11. Thank you guys. I thought this would be the last Deuce I would build for a longtime but I have recently seen a Tudor that begs to be built in scale. I hope to get photos of it at Deuce Days.
  12. I missed this post until now. I was impressed with this model when I saw it in person and it seems to look even better in your photos. It makes me want to buy a new camera!!
  13. This model is a tribute to what has become known as the Doyle Gammell 3-Window Deuce Coupe because Doyle owned it when it appeared in Rod & Custom magazine in 1963. Doyle however did not build the car. The builder was Dick Bergen who really wanted to join the LA Roadster club so traded the Coupe for Doyle’s T-bucket. Doyle did not keep the Coupe very long and it later became well known when it looked very different after a subsequent owner gave it a flamed purple paint job and swapped in a big block Chevy. Eventually Bruce Meyer acquired the car and had it restored back pretty much to the way it looked when it appeared in Rod & Custom. More recently Doyle has built a close replica to the Coupe that has become synonymous with his name. ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONS BODY Top chopped Flat firewall with dual master cylinders Sewing needles for radiator support bars Aluminum tube spreader bars Widened Moon Tank with winged cap Added one windshield wiper I tried to replicate the chrome fender welting but was not happy with the look so it was removed after the photos were taken INTERIOR Replicas & Miniatures button-tufted upholstery which the car had when Doyle got it and as it appeared in R&C. He had it reupholstered in tuck & roll Hung pedals Fabricated shifter from metal rod and white pin head ball Parts box steering wheel with holes drilled Fabricated Tachometer ENGINE Rochester fuel injected engine and transmission from Revell ’59 Corvette Changed generator to driver’s side Metal headers from unknown source Exhaust system incorporates wide spaced tailpipes from current Revell Deuce Roadster CHASSIS Motor mounts from ’59 Corvette Rear transverse spring and cross member from AMT 40 Ford Rear shocks from ’59 Corvette Triangulated 4-link rear control arms – I could not find any images of the underside and there are many different configurations of triangulated 4-link arrangements so I came up with my own. Faux beam front axle Split wishbone radius rods from Revell Model A PAINT – ModelMaster Manganese Brown Metallic enamel darkened with black enamel
  14. It is always great to see a another good looking Deuce build.
  15. Nice job on one of my favourite Deuce kits. The brown colour reminds me of a hot rod I often saw at car show back in the 1960's
  16. Very well styled and executed. A beautiful model of a beautiful phantom.
  17. Great looking Mustang. I am looking forward to building one of these kits.
  18. You are doing excellent work. I look forward to seeing your completed model. A friend has been working on his for 20 years and I think he may finally get it done this year but maybe not in time for the race in which Toyota is reviving the iconic GTI red and white livery.
  19. Here are my three and I just started the Greg Moore Players Reynard/Mercedes
  20. Thanks guys. Maybe this build will inspire others to combine the Deuce and Model A kits !!??
  21. I love this thread featuring so many cool rods and custom. I have built quite a number of iconic Custom Car/Hot Rod replicas such as the Sam Barris Mercury and the Hirohata Mercury
