  1. The custom wheels in the AMT '55 Chevy stepside pickup kit might be a place to start. Think if you knock off the raised round "cap" thing at the center of those, the shape starts getting close. They should also fit the Daytona's kit tires. Some of AMT's late-model C4 Corvette convertibles include an extra set of unplated custom wheels that are very similar to the Monogram Callaway wheels. Don't think they are shown on the box, but I picked up a couple kits super cheap and they were a nice surprise. Can't remember off top of my head exactly which issues have them though...
  2. The hand crank makes it the last issue of the Revell Visible Turbo Engine. it's a 2.3-liter Ford as others have already said.
  3. I've started watching but have fallen a couple episodes behind. I'm pretty sure the Corvette is a '77 going by the little crossed-flag emblems on the front fenders. The '75 and '76 Vettes had a Stingray script there.
  4. The Round 2 blog has a series of articles on these kits. http://www.collectormodel.com/hawklindberg/3782-lindberg-model-kits-mini-lindys-an-illustrated-history-1960s/#sthash.MCNCc7El.dpbs http://www.collectormodel.com/hawklindberg/3787-lindberg-model-kits-mini-lindys-an-illustrated-history-1970s/#sthash.DgO3gmet.dpbs http://www.collectormodel.com/hawklindberg/3789-lindberg-model-kits-mini-lindys-an-illustrated-history-1980s-90s/#sthash.xoVcgPl8.dpbs
  5. Thanks. The kit selection at my local Meijer is extremely small, but the prices aren't bad. Couple weeks ago picked up the Dale Jr. Chevy SS stocker when they had some of the SnapTites for half off.
  6. This suggestion from Ace-Garageguy is the way to go. Remove the axle pins from the suspension assembly by cutting behind the large diameter that the wheel back fits up against. Use a thinnest saw blade you can find to make the cuts. I'd suggest a photoetch blade. If you want to drop the car quite a bit, you may need to add some small pieces of plastic to the top surface of the suspension assembly to give you something to glue the axle pins to.
  7. Correct, '68 Corvette promos were MPC. My first thought was to try the '75 roadster for parts too.
  8. Was hoping it would have this artwork. I'm a fan of AMT's Seventies Street Rod series, and the El Camino art is fantastic.
  9. You're right, the 2 'n 1 boxings of the '68 Roadster have the L88 and small-block hoods. The molded-in-yellow kit that's in the Ultra Rods set can only be built as the street machine and it only has the small-block hood.
  10. That's a nice surprise.
  11. I like those '80s Revell sets. The C4 pro street in the Ultra Rods set is called Bad Boy on the decals and has little skeletons mixed in with lightning bolts and stuff. Very '80s, and very cool.
  12. The yellow street machine-only version of the '68 roadster from the 1988 Ultra Rods three-car set didn't include the L88 hood, but otherwise think you're correct that it was in all the other issues (of the '68 roadster kit).
  13. Thanks, Brett. Will definitely pick this kit up. The decals do look good. Was pleasantly surprised by how nice the new sheet in the Fast & Furious issue of the Yenko Camaro was too. Big upgrade over the original Hot Rod-issue sheet, and that one wasn't bad to start with.
  14. They could also redeem themselves with a nicely done E30 3-Series.
  15. Man, that's a great batch of kits! Does anybody know if the AMT/Matchbox Volvo Globetrotter kit ever released by AMT in the United States? Have no memory of this kit at all.
  16. Man, I like that green 1LE!
  17. I have a bit like this where the cutting surface is approximately the same diameter as the shaft that fits into the chuck. BEST Dremel bit in my collection and the one I use the most. I've used it to do exactly what the original poster is looking to do.
  18. There was also a molded-in-yellow version of the original '69 427 coupe kit in the Supervettes set from 1989. Still, amazing that the stock '69 coupe has been issued so few times. I'm planning on getting at least one of the new ones.
  19. Have had good luck buying new and out-of-production kits from Spotlight Hobbies. Shipping prices seem more than fair, and delivery has been quick too. No complaints.
  20. Have a Buyer's Choice reissue '69 GTX convertible (yellow & black car on yellow & blue box) that I bought new and sealed and it came with the '68 Road Runner grille. Pretty sure there has been at least one issue of these related kits that had the wrong model year hood in to for the year of the kit....I'm not clear on the specifics of that though.
  21. Good point, but I think the brake drums are on either side of the old Ertl tab between the dash and the front roll pan on the tree with the chassis.
  22. What are the unplated outer (???) wheels. Looks like there's a set on the tree with the engine block and another set on the tree with the interior bucket. Been a long time since I looked at one of these, but remember some shallow steelies in the 1980s Ertl kit with the blue car on the box. Don't remember a second set.
