Revell "Skip's Fiesta" Series
Sixties Sam replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I built the Galaxie/Skyliner kit last year. It came out ok. The top mechanism was fiddly to get to fit and work. Very old tool kit - from the 1960's. -
This post is like walking through a car museum, Harry! Great builds, and all very interesting subjects. Great work! Sam

That White is a beauty, Mark! -
Very cool, nostalgic model! I built several of those 39/40 Fords in those days. There were some paints that made a decent job when brushed on. I still have a Hubley metal Model A Ford pickup with its original brush paint job on it. The paint was called Enameloid, I think. It took forever to dry, but the brush marks leveled out well - looked like a spray job back then. Nice save on this model! Sam

38 GMC cabover car hauler
Sixties Sam replied to Sixties Sam's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Greg, it's 1/25. Sam -
I just finished this mostly scratch built cabover car hauler. It's a simple curbside model, with no engine or chassis detail. The cab is a Flintstone resin unit, and the wheels are from a Moebius big rig wheels pack. Frame rails are balsa, and the bed is sheet styrene. Ramps are styrene sheet & channel and wire mesh. Rear fenders are made from the lid of a Testors spray paint can. Headlights are ancient 39 Ford lights from the parts boxes, which also supplied the VW parking lights and mirrors. Seat, dash, and steering wheel are parts box finds, too. I had some trouble with the Krylon paint wrinkling, and had to redo it. It's still not very good, but It will have to do. I need to add a license plate, and maybe some decals. This was a fun project! Comments welcome! Loading up a 62 Dart. Going to the races!

Wow! Those are all nice! The blue one is my favorite, though. I had a Little T back in the day, and I have an original issue Big T falling apart, awaiting restoration. Nice work on all your T's! Sam

Very nice build, Bruce! Great finish and foil work. Good color choice, too. Sam

That is a great model! The foiling must have taken forever, but hey, nothing looks more like bare metal than bare metal! Sam

Hey guys, I got this 38 GMC resin cab from ebay, and decided to make a car hauler using it. It's going to be curbside, no engine or chassis details. Frame is 3/8" x 1/4" balsa sticks with thin plywood tabs for the axles to go through. The bed is sheet styrene with 1/16" half round edging. Wheels & tires are a set of big rig wheels from Moebius. Rear fenders are made from the lid of a can of Testors clear paint. It's shaping up, but there's more to do. I'm considering making the bed tilt, pivoting on the rear axle, so you can use very short ramps for loading. I plan to use it as sort of a rolling diorama, displaying my newest models on it. Comments and suggestions welcome.
