  1. Same name as my dog, quite the coinkidink. G
  2. I will build one, I purchased it yesterday. It will be a silver Missouri State Highway Patrol vehicle with the rarely seen red interior that was ordered by Missouri and Texas. Then I will watch folks lose their minds debating the interior color. Talk about raising the roof. G
  3. Revell's 2010 Mustang GT out of the box but with different wheels. When I saw this didn't have the Coyote engine I decided not to go all wild and just build a car I'd like to have. Here's where we sit after three months. These are the wheels I'm using. I think they came from a Revell Dodge Challenger. It's MM French Blue with MM Enamel clear. The interior is MM Flat Black with the seats, dash and console being Floquil Grimy Black. G
  4. He can be taught................................ G
  5. We called it simply E-M-S, as in "what's the eta for ems?" Slang term would be "bambalance", don't ask how that got started, I never did know. I have to say I've never watched any of the mentioned shows. In my mind "Barney Miller" was the best depiction of a big city detective bureau ever shown on TV. I can place a face to every character in the show, and while it's about a weeks worth of action condensed into a half hour sitcom, they got it right. G
  6. Absolutely. Oh and did you know all slot machines are remotely controlled by aliens from Area 51? THAT was an actual telephone call I had a couple of weeks ago. Darn aliens. G
  7. Amazing isn't it Charlie? In High School I was voted "Most Likely to go to Prison" . I'm now in year 34 of a law enforcement career. I have yet to be on the inside of any actual prison facility. G
  8. As was I grasshopper, as was I. G
  9. This is one I started a while ago and just finished. I began working the night watch so I slept a lot and only built for brief periods of time on my days off. I have a 2010 Mustang GT thats been sitting for months as well. This is the Academy M4A3 105 Sherman as used by the Marines in Korea. I have a photo of the real tank in December 1950 at the Chosin Resevoir. Paint is mostly Tamiya with some enamel and oils for weathering. This was a load of fun even with me working odd hours and sleeping all the time. I think I have done the kit and the subject justice. G
  10. That's lost on some folk here. I like the 'stang, hang around and show us more. G
  11. Ben that's a real good deal there, you won't be disappointed. A good single action AB will expand your opportunities in painting car bodies. That pressure regulator on the compressor is a must have as well. Don't sell the double action AB short. They take practise but you can achieve good things with one. I have three, and use one or the other almost exclusively. Just remember you use the tool, the tool doesn't work without you. You have to get better, so practise is key. G
  12. One guy retired, he had14 years with the GCB all on the nightwatch and he was the only FTO down there. One newbie up and quit, two already there needed training. I got a call on a Monday telling me my services were required on the night watch like tomorrow. So two and a half months later all the little darlings are trained, on their own and happy. I get an extended weekend and go back to daywatch this Wednesday. MrsG is quite happy, as am I. G
  13. General members do not see the IP address of a poster. The people mentioned do see the address however it reveals only a general location. Specifics can be obtained from the provider, but it normally requires a subpoena from a LE agency. A few cases have been made going that route. http://murderpedia.org/male.T/t/travis-maury.htm Read further on in the article, as it gives a good breakdown regarding what can and cannot be released to the public. BTW when reading the above insert "St Louis Metro Police" where ever you see the letters "FBI". I played a small, small role in this as the assistant profiler. I currently work a lot of computer fraud and the chick I just field trained has an extensive background in computer fraud from her days in the Nevada Secretary of States office. Ladies and gentlemen you are your own worst enemy in the cyber world. The bad guys get only what you let them scam you out of, or what you put out there for the world to see. G
  14. Wait till you see whay you can find out about yourself! I can find ME in about 2 seconds, all my ex wives in about 5 seconds and all my previous addresses in about the same. Hey danno! They put me back on night watch with one days notice two weeks before DSC. I got off that day at 7am and just couldn't drive down there with no sleep. I'll be back soon. G
  15. In this the fourth decade of my career I find that social media is pretty much where I now go in an investigation to wrap it up. I can tie up plenty of loose ends, connect the dots, indict your butt, and do it all with a click of a mouse. Oh I still have to pound the pavement, intervieweing scores of people and write reams of pages but there isn't much I cannot find out online anymore. G
  16. I made three of those. Thank you Pete. G
  17. 1. I have been shot, twice. 2. I'm back on the nightwatch, not of my own free will. G
  18. 1) Was your introduction to modeling at home? Yes 2) From whom? Dad (and Mom) 3) What kind of models (cars, planes, trains, etc)? Dad owned a print shop, Mom was an accountant. 5) How old were you? 7 6) About what year was your introduction? 1963 or '64 G
  19. Very very nice. I too drove one of these. Once. To tell the tuth, it was the only car I ever drove where I had to put the seat up a notch or two. I'm not that tall, but I normally drive with a seat all the way back. These were BIG whales. G
  20. In 1980 the city of St Charles Missouri went one better and used Citations! Rumor was they had to shorten the barrels of their shotguns so they would fit in the vertical rack. We had a few years of Malibus, but the scout cars were ordered with 6 cylinders. Traffic got the 350's. We kept Novas in the Academy EVOC fleet well into the 80's. It was then realized these babies out performed anything on patrol, and none of the lessons learned applied to FWD cars. They still laid rubber all over the lot. Believe it or not the Celebrity was not bad as an urban patroller. Snug is an apt term, but better than some. G
  21. The Novas rocked. We drove those from day 1 and didn't want to give them up. St Louis was one of the first departments to use a downsized street patrol copcar. We tested a bunch of midsize cars, one being the '80 Volare. It had NO suspension what so ever, and the seat was one sheet of plain, unpatterned, vinyl. Same with the Diplomat. With a 360 in the Volare you could spin the car out pulling onto the street. Really, you could. The Dodge Diplomat was used as a district lockup car, as well as detective ride. We called them "wonder cars" as in wonder what this car will do next. Transverse torsion bars and city streets didn't mix despite Fleet Services best efforts. Electronics were marginal at best. I thought the one I drove on occasion was haunted. The flippin' electric door locks would just begin to lock and unlock by themselves as you drove. The St Regis was also used as a lockup. I only drove one a few times and it impressed me as a great big wallowing whale of a car that couldn't get out of it's own way. It had NO ground clearance and we scraped them unmercifully over streetcar tracks and whatnot. The worst in my opinion was the Ford Fairmont. Hands down the slowest, most ungainly, bad handling POS this side of the current Impala. Holy Cow Batman this pooch wouldn't make a U turn on a four lane thoroughfare. That says a lot when you realize after the Fairmont we drove 4 years worth of Chevrolet Celebritys. Now there's an obscure copcar for you. G
  22. I have to aquire a few of these as well. Funny, take that pic you posted, add some antennae, and it would double for a car I drove in '84. G
  23. Oh yes who could forget this beast? Modelling several hundred versions would be fun, actually driving this POS would not. They were wonder cars, ............................you had to wonder what it would do next. G
