  1. That looks like something I got drunk and rode. Once G
  2. November will be 36 years and two different agencies for me. I retired once, from arguably the most violent city in America, and never felt like I had a target on me. Ever. At least not like now. 8/29/15 was the anniversary of the death of a co worker and friend. His partner that night was wounded so severely, she retired shortly thereafter. I have known her since she was 15. There isn't a day goes by I don't thank the man above for allowing my survival. On two occasions I came close, real close. Too darn close. Four other times I squeaked by and made it through. All of us in, or retired, from the business thank you good citizens from the bottom of our hearts. Just acknowledging the issues we face daily goes a long way in our minds. G
  3. I REALLY need that new Tamiya Mk IV tank. G
  4. That is really looking good! FWIW Hasegawa does/did a 1/25th scale Kubelwagen. G
  5. Charlie I was thinking of you Saturday night. I was walking into a casino and there in all it's glory was a '94-'95 Buick Roadmaster. She'd been repainted the original color and looked great. From what I could see the interior was still looking good. She had a Nevada "Retired Air Force" plate so I'm guessing the original owner. I didn't have the time for photos but take my word for it that was a fine looking car. I always wanted a Buick or Cadillac based on the platform. G
  6. Oh my, that's a big one! G
  7. Every major casino resort built since 1990 has water conservation as one of the top priorities. I know it doesn't seem that way, but they do. I see the plans before they get built. Residential areas have their own rules dictated by the Southern Nevada Water Authority. Very interesting concepts at work out here. G
  8. Every project since about 1955 has generated it's own level of toxic waste. My understanding is the development of radar absorbent coatings contributes the majority of the issues. That, and aliens of course.................. G
  9. Harry, I don't know about Chicago, but it was proven St. Louis was a target city for the aerial spraying of chemicals. Apparently in the 1950's the government sprayed several types of chemicals across the city to gauge their effects on the populace. At first they claimed it was to check air flow patterns allowing more accurate weather forecasting. "Weather Balloon" anyone? G
  10. This showed up last week. I can now build tanks from both heavy tank battalions that operated in Tunisia. G
  11. While the government claims no lasting effects, there are life long residents here that will tell you a different story. Areas of Utah, which were down wind from the test site, still have a higher than normal rate of cancer. Monument Valley is still contaminated and is specifically named as being a source of cancer for decades of film stars and crew. There is a reason the test site itself is Federal Land and off limits to the public. Remember the test site and Area 51 are two separate entities. Area 51 had it's own issues with toxic waste disposal in the 90's. The place is such a secret they couldn't acknowledge/disclose health issues amongst employees even under oath. G
  12. Harry, we here in Nevada don't just fool with Mother Nature, we outright trick her. Acres of concrete and steel in the middle of the high desert causes untold changes in the weather. Add to that decades of nuclear testing and you have a recipe for disaster. G
  13. Not exactly accurate. The lake is a result of damming the Colorado River which has run through the area for eons. The flow of the river has depended on snowfall for ever, so that is nothing new for the lake. The entire Mojave Desert area has been much, much drier than normal for a decade or so now. G
  14. Since '05 the lake has been disappearing at an alarming rate. We need LOTS of snow in the mountains for many, many winters to get her back up. G
  15. After a decade or more of driving less than adequate Detroit iron while on duty, I received a '94 Chevrolet Caprice with the LT1 engine. The first time I dropped the hammer on that big wonderful beast I was sold. G
  16. ^^What he said^^ G
  17. It sits in the lobby of the Lemay Car Museum in Tacoma. A beautiful truck it is. G
  18. Heading back to work tonight. Yuk. G
  19. MrsG and I I just returned from a 10 day road trip to visit the son in Seattle. Rain, humidity and cool temps were nice for a change, but I am glad to be back in the dry, dry Mojave. G
  20. ^^What he said^^ Dragon's new Tunisian Tiger set me back $79.99. I added a set of Fruilmodel metal tracks, see above comment, that I was lucky enough to score off EBay for $35.00. Add to that additional PE from Eduard, $26.00 of which I will use a fraction and a set of metal tow cables at $ 15.99. Roughly $157.00 before ever cutting parts off the sprue. This is not counting the Tamiya paints I will need to mix the proper colors. The base shade of brown requires three different colors of paint, the green camo requires two. G
