Woke up to 68 degree temps and it's my Friday. Got a package yesterday with the wrong kit in it. Simple mistake as the kit numbers are close between the one I ordered and the one they sent. One email later and I am informed the right kit is in the mail and they sent a prepaid FedEx label to ship the other back. Not bad, not bad at all. G

Thread for Ideas for New Topics/Categories

Tell me again just why a 5 year old thread was resurrected? G -
December 2008 to be precise. Snowed upwards of 8" at my house. I'm just above 3000 ft in Henderson. Folks got so flustered coming home in rush hour they abandoned their cars on Eastern Avenue. I was heading to work and just passed them all by. Stupidiest move I saw that night was the driver of a late model Corvette in my subdivision. He had the car all crossed up with the pedal floored spinning his way up hill. The rear wheels caught and the car went over the curb into the bushes. G

Vegas was literally the eye of the storm. Baker, Laughlin, Bullhead, Kingman all got snow and it just swirled around our valley. G

Temps plummeted to just below freezing, the wind was insane but it only snowed up in the mountains. Several areas of town got a dusting but for the most part Snowmageddon Las Vegas was a non event. Arizona, now that's another story. G

Mostly good for me. Family members health is good overall, though I did lose my brother in law. He beat the odds what with his ongoing issues. My sister rebounded well and is quite healthy. Kids are doing well in school. The middle one, son, just acquired a Masters, the baby is close to her Bachelors, both in nursing. The oldest is a year closer to retirement in the PD. I got promoted and received a handsome raise thanks to the new administration. Bought a new treadmill, down 7 lbs. in week one. I'm not complaining, but it ain't over yet. G -

I remember that we argued with management when the decision to purchase Harleys was announced because "they're American made". We wanted more Kawasaki's which at that time, were built in what I remember as Torrance, California. Ain't never gonna drive foreign cars in an American police department. Yeah.....our Fords were assembled in Canada and had maple leaf flag decals on the rear windows when delivered. The Chevrolets had parts from across the globe, primarily Mexico. It is truly a global workplace. I'm thinking Tesla S. G

What did you see on the road today?
Agent G replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just spied a Model A cabriolet on a trailer behind a moving truck. She was "bug yellow" with black fenders and top. Looked like a pretty good stock restoration. That said it was dark, and I was on the freeway headed to work. G -

I've attended way too many police funerals in my 35 years on the job. You know the threat is real, yet you go in everyday and do your job. It's as bad as I have ever seen it. G

When is a build complete in your eyes?

I'll be at the bench and suddenly realize there is literally nothing else I need to do. It is then "done". G -
Caprice and Crown Victoria Interior Colors

Alberto I usually prime everything first. I use the same primer as the body and spray everything at once. I get good results from Plastikote T235 gray primer. G -

Color modulation and mixing for "scale effect" are to me more of a "noble endeavor" than a true technique. While I have used modulation to good effect, that it turned out well was more of an accident than a display of talent. I will lighten paint on my military models, i.e. armor, as my style of weathering tends to darken the final finish. I don't want a black hole sitting on the shelf regardless of how good it looks. I am not an aircraft modeler but have seen thousands over the years. Like Snake said when done right the look is superb. Most are not done right. Subtlety is key. I spraybombed two recent builds, no weathering, no modulation, no washes, the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH things look just fine. G

Caprice and Crown Victoria Interior Colors
Agent G replied to av405's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
For a '91-'92 Caprice Tamiya Buff, XF 57, NATO Black XF 69 and Flat Blue XF 8 are the colors you need. '93 -'96 you can go with Buff, Sky Gray XF 19, Medium Blue XF 18 and a mix (50/50) of Flat Red XF 7 and Hull Red XF 9. Those are interior colors I remember on our all white cars. '90-'94 CV's seem to have all the above. I drove a '95 that had a dark blue interior. I don't remember the medium denim blue until '98-'99 or so. The two tone dash was only noticible on that tan interior. I'd replicate that with Buff and Flat Earth XF 52. The seats have a patterened fabric that makes it look like they are two toned as well. Again it's really more noticible on the light interiors like tan. Hope that helps. G -
Two sets of Fruillmodel metal tracks. One set for the current Tiger tank underconstruction, the other for a future build. Also scored some beautiful brass aftermarket parts like tow shackles and tapered radio antennas. G
