  1. Credit to Ron then! That's what happens when I cruise the web at 4am while, ahem, working................. G
  2. Steve I had to look twice at that first pic of the "Silver Special" to make sure it wasn't the real thing. Gorgeous stuff man. G
  3. The kids got a fast car, trophy, and a cute girlfriend. Don't be hatin'. He's got it going on. G
  4. Semper Fi Shipmates! G
  5. Amen to that! Each and every build sitting on my shelves has special meaning to me. Sometimes it's the subject matter itself, sometimes it's what it took to make it "just so". More often than not it's both. I couldn't begin to place a "price" on one, to me it's a labor of love. If I ever tabulated the total cost of a build, well I would probably swallow my tongue. G
  6. I don't think Charlie or Caril Ann ever saw a TV. You could take these two and put them in today's paper. Sometimes two people just have that effect on each other. G
  7. Love it! I'd like to see more of the Camaro as well. G
  8. RIP Deputy, We have the watch. G
  9. While similar to the WWII invasion stripe they are not intended to represent those. Many times aircraft sported "recognition stripes" in times of conflict. D DAy stripes being one obvious example. WWII AAF aircraft in the pacific which were originally painted olive drab and had white stripes on the wings and tail planes. Later examples would include the yellow/black stripes used in the Suez crisis, and the yellow/black stripes used by the USAF in Korea on the F86. While I cannot find a specific reference to these stripes I believe they were simply there for recognition purposes at some point . Good looking build, I'm anxious to see more of it. G
  10. Danny- I hoard any and all scrap wire for modelling purposes. In this instance I used copper strands from a power cord I cut from an old vacuum. First I cut a 1/2 inch long piece of the cords insulation and cut it length wise. I take upwards of four strands of wire, this one used three strands for the main tow cables and two for the side track cable, and fold about 1 inch of one of the wire ends back on themselves. I insert this into the afore mentioned piece on insulation and then place all that in the chuck and tighten her up. I do all this with the cordless drill on the bench. Now I take a pair of pliers and grab the loose ends of the wire up. I hold this end out straight from the chuck and keep a slight bit of tension on the wires like this. I pull the trigger just enough to spin the drill slowly and watch the results. When it winds up tight enough for my taste I stop. I ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION! G
  11. 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar. Ex #3 had one. pretty cool car though never saw a dude driving one, ever. G
  12. Beautiful color! Love it. G
  13. I like! G
  14. For all who believe 1/24 or 1/5th scale lack detail, try 1/35th scale. This little gem is part of a two kit boxing by Tamiya. The main kit is a German sdkfz 222 recon armored car and this NSD 350 with dispatch rider. Granted the spokes are overscale, but everything else is pretty darn good. Mustang1989 built a 1/48th scale BMW with sidecar in the "All the Rest" community builds. It too is full of exquisite detail. My point is not only can it be done, it is being done. G
  15. Very nice! You are really putting in a lot of work correcting this old kit. I like that! The Tiger is in primer now. I'll have pics posted soon. G
  16. If you can discount a helicopter, weird military jet (think Harrier) swamp gas or Venus then you sir have experienced the "Classic UFO" . As an agent of MiB I'll be right over.............................. G
  17. Mark that area of Illinois has had it's share of UFO sightings over the years as well. Post that photo, I'd sure like to see what you got. G
  18. I like it! Seems like way too many of us first responder types are taking the final call. Great tribute sir. G
  19. Lots and lots of nail polish! I get some cheap eye make up there too, the weird metallic blues, greens and rust tones. Looks great rubbed on exhaust pipes. G
  20. Sally's Beauty Supply. Catch a sale and you can stock up on sanding boards, sanding blocks and buffers. Look around and see what else can be used. Tweezers, burnishers and fake nails for shapes like headlight visors. G
  21. Oh they are real all right. Thing is they're ours! If we knew half of what goes on out in the desert here at Area 51 or Edwards AFB in California we could explain 90% of all UFOs. It's that other 10% G
  22. Blue, tan and black were the only options for those particular model years depicted by the kit, 1991 and 1992. Tamiya sprays in Navy Blue, Aircraft Tan and Black will suffice quite well. Dash and door panels were vinyl, front seats were cloth where your bum and back were and the rest was vinyl. Back seat was all vinyl. G
