Hello Everybody! I've been having a little trouble with my finger tips drying and splitting due to the cold, dry winter weather so I took a week off building to allow my poor little fingies to heal up a bit. They're not completely healed but they're getting better. So in celebration, here's an update! I've decided on the trim color for the interior, Tamiya XF-75 IJN Gray. The dashboard has been painted Tamiya TS-93 Pure Blue to match the body color. There wasn't a lot of relief to work with when it came to detail painting the instruments so I did the best I could. With the dashboard complete, the steering wheel should be next so here it is. It's been painted Tamiya TS-46 Light Sand to match the upholstery with Molotow chrome accents. That's all for this update. As always, thanks for following along and please feel free to share your thoughts and views. David G.

Thanks for following Gary. Please feel free to use any ideas or techniques I show here, chances are pretty good that I stole them from someone else anyway! -
Looking good Marcel! I'd go with the more detailed turbo too. David G.

A one-piece body and cab? Interesting. For some reason I'm picturing this finished in a turquoise blue with white accents. David G.

It's a good start on the body Daniel. Of course I'm interested to see how it all plays out. You know, with the decals you were working on last year. David G.

Hello Everybody! As many of you may know, I'm currently building Revell's Auto Transport Trailer. As a companion to that trailer, I've selected Revell's Peterbilt 359. In just a couple of build sessions I have the basic chassis assembled with a test-fit of the engine. It's time to get some wheels under this mamma-jamma. For kit chrome I usually spray a dull coat first then do some detail painting and washes. I finished the wheel detailing and started to assemble the wheel sets for a photo. There's a little problem. The tires are warped which is causing a wobbly bent-rim looking effect. I can mount the tires without the center spacer but then they're too close together. It looks like I have a few choices at this point, I'll wait to see how it all looks as it comes together before I decide what to do. As always, I'm open to suggestions Thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments. David G.

The plug wires look fine to me, well beyond where I would have gone with them. I also like the colors on the intake tubes, cool! David G.

Revell's Auto Transport Trailer: WIP

You've done some remarkable work with those Dan, I'm looking forward to seeing the next one. Thank you Jeff. I know, right? I didn't know that there were that many transport trailers out there to build. David G. -
Thank you Jonathan, it's very kind of you to say so. Thank you much Greg. Thanks Harry. That was my thought too! When I saw it there like that I just had to get a photo. I imagined someone who got ahold of a Cord and didn't have the resources to properly restore it and just made a hot rod out of it. Thanks again everybody for taking the time to share your comments. David G.

I do look forward to seeing some photos Mark. There's nothing wrong with a simple build. I usually have three builds going at the same time and almost always, at least one of those builds is what I would consider a simple build. I'm glad to know that you've drawn inspiration from the work I've done, thank you for sharing that Mark. I think it's good to step out of one's comfort zone on occasion. Every year I try to challenge myself with building something that I wouldn't normally build, that's what this build was for me. A step outside my comfort zone. Anyway, I'm glad to know that you liked it and I'm looking forward to seeing photos of yours when you post them. David G.

Hello Everybody! With the hideaway headlight hurdle cleared it's time to get on with some painting! The front fender assembly has been painted and the seams in the rear fenders have been puttied. Once those are sanded smooth, I can get the first coat of paint on the body. Seeing the Cord sitting like this on my Work-Shelf I started thinking... chopped top fender-less roadster... Hmmm... No! No! Stay focused! For painting the wheels to match the body color, I sprayed the kit chrome with some Tamiya flat clear. I then brush painted the outer rims with a couple of coats some Tamiya TS-93 Pure Blue which I liberated from the spray can. Once the blue dried, I finished up with a coat of Tamiya clear before mounting the tires. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.

Wow! @Mopar - D I had no idea there were that many transport trailers out there! It's difficult for me to imagine that any one has more in their collection than you do. Each rig is an excellent build as are the cars they carry. Very cool! thanks for posting these Dan. David G. -

There are those who say: "When building a model, each part is a model unto itself." Nobody exemplifies this more than you Daniel. With the level of detail you create, each little part you build is truly a model unto itself. David G.

Revell's Auto Transport Trailer: WIP
David G. replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello Everybody! Most of the kits I've seen online in photos and videos come with chromed wheels; this one did not. So working ahead a little I decided to clean them up and spray them with Rustoleum Bright Metal Chrome paint. This was the result. I'm guessing that even though there was no chrome coating on the wheels, some of them still received a partial enamel undercoat. Anyway, into the Purple Pond they go! I have all the lower ramps painted and attached. Next comes a test fit of the superstructure sides. Each side is cast as a single piece and needs a little cleanup but they look they'll square up well enough. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments or questions you may have. David G. -

That sounds like a great plan Daniel. Thank you Jürgen. That's a rather funny problem to have. For most builders the reverse is true. They have many cars build but little motivation to build a truck and trailer. Thank you Brian. The sides are fixed but the upper ramps are removable and will pivot some on their mounting points. I'm just getting to that part of the build now and I'll have some photos to post soon. Thanks again to everybody for your comments and support. David G.
