Sources for 4 and 6 clyinder engines
Erik Smith replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The AMT Capris II kit has a Ford Cologne 2.8 V6. It does not have Ford Motorsport on them though. Might be able to modify a cover from an 8. -

It was a preorder during the first months of COViD and air shipping was not available - only option was ground (or sea, I guess). They give it up to 6 months. Last one was two.

Hopefully it’s not coming by ship. I’ve had a shipment stuck across the Pacific since September.

I really like that purple. Beautiful looking paint. Oh, also, I hate your weather.

Resin casting large parts and rubber tires?
Erik Smith replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Have you looked at 3dScaleparts? He has a few 1/8 items. They aren’t cheap, but neither is casting your own resin - especially if you factor in time away from building a model. https://www.3dscaleparts.com/1-8-wheels -
I would put all the “Havana” series and the “South of the Border” series on my favorite box art - yes, some are probably not sensitive to stereotypes that we acknowledge now, but the art work is really great and era perfect. Anybody have a clue who the artist might have been?

The weekend modelers,
Erik Smith replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I go to a hobby shop about once every two months, maybe (Hobby Town or B and B Hobbies in Spokane). I go to Hobby Lobby about three times a year. I have actually never seen another person buying a model. Very rarely somebody might be looking at them. They must sell, though; Hobby Lobby devotes a large amount of aisle space for them. Maybe I will just hang out in Hobby Lobby and spy on the aisles next time - but I would probably get reported by some Karens and asked to leave the premises. -
I would say, sort of, Lee. There are holes to fill where the “Stock Car” parts attach. The stock and “Stock Car” chrome sprues are both in the box. Interior appears to be just a stock interior. Glass is stock. I say sort of because the wheel openings appear way too large, so maybe this kit always had this issue or they changed it for the “Stock Car” kit.

Mid Engine Transaxle for LS Engine
Erik Smith replied to Erik Smith's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I appreciate all the possibilities. I ordered a Shelby, $16 with shipping. I never would have thought of that kit. The best looking transaxle I could find was this one from Mad Mike, but I wouldn’t want to separate it from that engine! -

Perfect - and in an easy to find kit. Thank you. -
AMT kits suck!
Erik Smith replied to Plumcrazy Preston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, but those kits have hundreds of parts, different colored sprues (sometimes, magically, different colors on the same sprue), and cost too...oh, wait: -
Mid Engine Transaxle for LS Engine
Erik Smith posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Any kits that might have or have something similar to the transaxle pictured? It is from a Porsche Boxster, but something else might work also. I would like to mate it to an LS engine. Thanks for any ideas. -
So I couldn’t resist this awesome model and bought one. The weird thing is, not only is it ugly, but the kit itself is weird. It measures out to 1:40 scale, dwarfed by the Lindberg 1/32 Charger, which, based on wheelbase, is exactly 1:32. The wheel openings, though, are roughly the same size as the Charger. If anybody wants all the “Stock Car” parts, I won’t be using them, although the side pipes are alluring. Oh, we will see what can be done with it...

Great looking model, Roger. That’s a combo I’ve often looked at and thought “I wonder how that would work out?” Now I know. Awesome work.

AMT kits suck!
Erik Smith replied to Plumcrazy Preston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
“Some AMT kits suck” would be a better, more accurate thread title. It’s faulty logic to say the AMT kit you have sucks, therefore AMT kits suck. I actually enjoy the challenge on a lot of problem children kits. -
Love the color on the Rabbit. Great looking models.

Clearly Scale at Model Builder's Warehouse
Erik Smith replied to Randy D's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I placed an order on Monday and received it today (Wednesday). Incredible service and products. -
AMT, MPC, Revell, and Otaki all did versions of the Monza. https://monza.homestead.com/models.html The easiest one to find would be the recently reissued AMT version, which is what the one you have is based on, I believe:
