  1. Holy cow! Thanks for posting this link. Amazing. Greg, sir, Rest In Peace.
  2. Are those not layers on the cowling?
  3. I would think speed (quantity) and quality. Even very good printed parts still have visible layers. A final polish on a printed mold would clean that for injection. Injection molding is fast enough to do at a production rate for the size and quantity of parts/sprues needed for an entire kit. Correct me if I’m wrong.
  4. I saw on me on fire on the side of the road once. Cool model Jim. Nice paint choice. Would be nice if AMT could break out this old mold.
  5. I think you’re correct Lee. Had a few “watched” on eBay and seems they sell out in a day - Ballzanos had them in stock today listed at “more than 12” and they’re all gone. I think I’ll wait for the full detail version, maybe not.
  6. Nice simple model, Claude. Beautiful execution.
  7. Great looking model! This, I learned recently, is a really underrated kit. It has great detail and good looks.
  8. Here is an MPC 1985 Dodge Dayton Turbo Z turned into a V-6Z because it's not a turbo and it has a V-6. The V-6 just happens to be 6/10s of a Dodge Viper V-10, so it ends up being a 4.8 liter V-6. It was modeled after the Daytona Z in the old TV show "Hunter", but I was unable to keep the engine under the stock hood, so I modified the kit supplied ugly hood and made a still ugly but as closer looking to stock hood. ...and here is what happened when we took it out for a test ride...
  9. Nice work. Some of those old Aoshima kits can be a challenge to work with - looks like you worked it out very well.
  10. My wife’s step dad had a base model, 4 cylinder, short bed, poverty capped first Gen. It was tan with, I think, sunset like sticker stripes - I can never find a photo of it or one like it online. I think it was Chevy installed theme but could be wrong. Don’t see many on the road anymore.
  11. Those seats look very comfy.
  12. Interesting. I wonder how they compare to Alclad or AK Interactive metal paints? Per ounce, the Tamiya paint, while it seems expensive, is cheaper.
  13. Hey Tom - it’s out. I looked at B and B but either they sold them all or haven’t got it yet. I didn’t ask, I was there for glue, and uh a Trabant apparently.
  14. For anybody interested, I received a package of Hayes brand clear decal paper today and did a little test print. Quality shortly after printing is pretty good - you can almost read the tag expiration year on 1/25 license plate, so that seems nice. I will let it dry, spray some clear on and see how they lay down.
  15. The original is (was) a highly sought after annual, not available since the OG was turned into a drag car. There are very few wagon models available, and none of this era and size class.
  16. When you go for glue and feel sorry for this because maybe it’s been sitting on the shelf since 2014
  17. Any opinions you would care to share and or pictures of the parts tree ? There is almost 20 pages here:
  18. Thanks for the information. Pretty interesting. It looks cool, which is something. So what year or era does this truck belong to? The original release was ‘73? I am in the same boat. Last one I built was an Alaskan Hauler - must have been 1982...? Middle school probably. But this thing is neat - a lot of potential for a well used, weathered truck here.
  19. I’m not even into truck models. At all. But that is cool. I’m really liking that supercharged? engine.
  20. I usually use the “Best” quality setting, which I guess would be something like the photo paper setting. Maybe not. All three papers went through at the same setting, though, so I do t know why the Papilio (which is older than the experts choice) still produces a usable graphic. I think the brand I ordered was Hayes? We will see. Maybe just some fresh paper will help.
  21. Thanks for the thoughts Peter. I am not sure about the first sheet above, it was in the plastic zip lock I store all the paper in. I can't discern a protective layer, but the ink doesn't like that paper at all. The second one is certainly Expert Choice for inkjet as it's labeled on the back of the sheet. The old Papilio paper still works, it's just a little crumbly. I ordered another brand today and I will report back!
  22. I know there are a lot of threads dealing with waterslide decal papers, but many, well, most are outdated. I have had some decal paper around for years - "Expert Choice" and "Papilio" and one mystery brand, clear with blue backer. I tried printing some decals out today and some of the paper turned out absolutely horrible - the ink bled and colors were completely muddled. I the photos below, the first is the mystery clear with blue backing. The next is "Expert's Choice" and the final one is the last bit of "Papilio" paper I have. You can see the difference. Problem is, it's all old, I guess. The first two have unacceptable images. The Papilio images are great, however, the decal film is now brittle and crumbles easy. I am using an Epson ET-2760 printer So, my question for 2021: What decal papers are people using to get decent prints on? Please post photos of actual decals if possible - we all have different standards. Papilio hasn't had their paper in stock in years, so I don't know if they are actually still making it or not. For reference purposes, the plates are 1/25 scale, so about .48 inches wide.
  23. Interesting way to do the trunk and hood. Overall, looks great.
