  1. Yeah, that kind of makes sense, since it looks like it's made for four cylinder engines. 50% more horsepower!
  2. Looks great. I built the S800 a few years ago and the it wasn't bad, it was just very "tight". Getting the body on the chassis was one of those nerve wracking modeling experiences.
  3. I am glad they included the “racing windshield” as that was my plan for the kit. Here is an old thread on the Judson supercharger. I haven’t been able to dig up a single photo of the configuration in the kit.
  4. Mask and spray. I’ve never seen brush painted trim look as good as sprayed on paint. Black trim is a pain on modern cars. Masking takes a lot of time but the actual painting takes only a minute. I would paint your body color, rub out and polish as needed (NO WAX), then mask and paint the trim. For the wheel flares, get something like Tamiya tape for curves. I did the same technique on my Rabbit:
  5. Yeah, chances are not... The one I see is in a yard between Spokane and Plummer, Idaho. I am pretty sure it's a blue and white hardtop pretty similar to that car. Here it is, actually, on Google earth. I have always wanted to stop and get a photo.
  6. I think I know where that car is now. If I ever get a chance to get a photo of it I'll post it up... Actually, it looks like it's parked in the same location, if that picture was taken in Idaho.
  7. Is the paint lifting off or paint and primer? Could be poor adhesion to the plastic. Some primers and dirty plastic will cause that. And, yeah, get Tamiya tape. If you have curves, get Tamiya’s magic tape specifically for curves.
  8. Front and rear attached and working out the 1980’s MPC “fit”.
  9. That looks great. I have wanted to make a windshield-frame-less racer version of a car this era, but have never wanted to do it to an original. I wouldn't feel bad converting this one, now... I know that's a Tempest, but...I think the straight simple body lines of the Cutlass would make a streamlined look.
  10. Great looking model. I really like that paint.
  11. I think we could agree that "fees are a hassle", and, unfortunately, like taxes and death, unavoidable. Like Tom said, and has been discussed ad nauseum in other threads, eBay is the place. Speaking of eBay, you would be surprised what people will pay for a big box full of random parts - I had a bunch of old parted out kits that I stuffed into one box, took one photo, weighed it, and sold it off on eBay.
  12. Fujimi and Asuka make aftermarket parts. The Fujimi has short boards and is pretty easy to find. The Asuka one is harder to locate and has longboards. Really, cost wise, it wouldn’t be much more to buy an AMT newest 65 wagon or Surf van to steal the boards from.
  13. Sometimes check eBay for cheapest them go to the shops online shop - I think I saved a bit on my Burbank order going directly from their website, but used eBay to search lowest prices.
  14. I recently purchased the Tamiya Fine Engraving Tool. They make a few different widths and they attach to the handle like an exacto blade. The Tamiya engravers are expensive but are very well made and work very well. The different widths allow deeper grooves in door and trunk lines, or wider ones to give the gap more room. I purchased the handle from Burbank’s hobbies and the “blades” from Plaza Japan. You can always use the #11 blade trick or make you own, but the Tamiya tool is easier for me to control and, so far, takes a nice spiraling piece of plastic out with each light pass.
  15. Burbank’s House of Hobbies. Just got an order from them today.
  16. And scam. We’ve had our share just in the trading section. Imagine when $ gets involved.
  17. I think I still have the graphic - if I do I can send it to you and you can print it out on decal paper.
  18. Honestly, sometimes it’s okay to throw things away. Save what you want. Sell what you can. Donate as needed. Toss the rest.
  19. Finishing up a couple other projects so started prepping the body of the Regal.
  20. For the wheels: It appears the Herbie wheels do not have the slots like the stock steel wheels. They appear to have smooth inner rim. Tamiya and Fujimi rims have slots. It also appears they have different wheel depths. Quibbles? Maybe.
  21. I contemplated this...but after giving in and buying one of the new wagons and seeing how nicely the new inner fenders/firewall look, I think I will go the easy route and use the kit stuff. It's a great looking body and casting, really. Crisp lines and not a lot of cleanup.
  22. https://www.3dscaleparts.com/product-page/1-25-15-dub-wide-five-setup-with-drums Not sure if these fit the exact needs - they are two widths front and rear. Or maybe the wide fives from one of Fujimi's Porsche kits would work?
