This race had a smile on my face the whole time - great little Escort fighting it out with a Camaro! 1.6 liters v 5.7 https://m.youtube.com/watch?ebc=ANyPxKoUz33XGZOQaIYO9UQZIb4H-9tpvpRRiPGCYufVncQ52sdnAfBhtlB-GMryEiShquTIhoa7DhQQwSV4wb5shE-mMIzRKA&v=cawBXWWgqCI The Camaro has a "winking turn indicator" on most of the race. %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/6E06FA7E-2645-4E2E-8327-958FD8D85477_zpsp2zh1uvk.png.html]

Pretty cool. Looks like something from a movie or tv show. I like it.

That Supra kit looks pretty cool - be a great x-country run. Still hacking on the Challenger wheels - the toy like spindle on the Pegasus wheel is too long, so I made a quick jig to cut the appropriate amount of material off and have each wheel with the same amount removed. %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/102CB676-15B4-4075-8505-F3EAD359EF10_zpshcvvcmir.jpg.html] then I just glued the separated ring back to the main wheel %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/1BE9A121-5769-468C-BC7F-AC95B046D853_zpsdfre3u49.jpg.html] I also managed to find a possible tire - from the Revell Porsche 918 (which look too thick on that car) - original Pegasus on left, Porsche 918 on right - ends up same height as original Challenger tire combo %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/3362161C-A817-4CD9-9458-5B0C5DCB1BF7_zpsa5gixruj.jpg.html]

AMT's Horizon TC3- Loser from the past, out of box!
Erik Smith replied to Faust's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The engraving and overall crispness of the AMT kit far better than the MPC dodge Omni. The MPC engine has more separate parts. I haven't actually built either one, just looked at the parts. -
Clean up in the body and gutting the interior - so cleaning it up too. The back seat is separate making a delete option a lot easier %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/0E54773A-57B7-4446-91BE-6D9CAB51919F_zpseat07xzp.jpg.html] Still not 100% on these wheels yet - I ordered some slightly bigger rubber and I am going to strip the chrome (poorly done anyhow) and add those pesky bolt lug things... %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/4762B7D3-D0AD-4A5C-B0DF-101AF6E44A25_zps6sugkp0n.jpg.html]

Nissan Fairlady 240ZG "Police car", 1/24, Hasegawa
Erik Smith replied to Prince Ital Mike's topic in Model Cars
Great looking model. Nice work! -
I like that color too. It's really a splendid kit. Probably one of Revell's best.

Thanks! They are Pegasus. I'll be dropping the car so if the tires still appear small, I'll check into options.

Finally getting started... %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/D6956BA8-0E66-4803-92CE-CA435AA53766_zpsoxikierm.jpg.html] I don't have a lot of modern style wheels/tires, and the challenger presents a, well, challenge, because the wheel wells are so darn big, but I'm going this direction (I tried some kidney slots, but all were way too small - Brock's 72 challenger wore a set of these similar mags, only smaller, in some of the photos, so hopefully I'll get the look I want. I'll probably paint them gold centers as well): %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/31A55AF1-5B90-47E0-AD72-CCF2507BF7DA_zpsnmdfzwbd.jpg.html] %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/56351112-1BE4-4E49-BB19-444847CD7D12_zps1wst2eo0.jpg.html]

Whats your work area like?
Erik Smith replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We had to switch rooms with kids getting older, so...the last month has been moving things around and getting set back up. Today will be the first run since the beginning of January! %5BURL=http://s966.photobucket.com/user/erikmsmith/media/160461B0-4A0C-4368-B804-55AD0FCF0D00_zpsalkt3qfk.jpg.html] -

1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone (update 1/4/19) Finished!
Erik Smith replied to RancheroSteve's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice work so far, Steve. Small changes that will make a big difference. I noticed yours has similar problem as mine with the trim around the front wheel well opening - a small 1/8-1/4 inch section is kind of serrated edge. -
Ah, copy. No D that I know of...

BMW 635 csi Jagermeister-update 3/22 decals and window trim
Erik Smith replied to 935k3's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice work! That's a cool kit. -
Depends. I have sold and purchased quite a bit from eBay. When I was selling some items, I wouldn't combine because I already had things packed in the boxes I had available and I wasn't interested in finding a new box, repackaging, etc. I wouldn't say you got "bit", there is no rule that sellers have to combine shipping and if the seller is only doing it part time, extra income, whatever, they probably want it take as little time as possible. Yes it's nice when they combine though, but not combining isn't the worst that happens on eBay.

What did you see on the road today?
Erik Smith replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, if you follow Bringatrailer.com at all, they've had a couple this year as they are reaching that magic age.
