  1. I thought about a replica Steve, but wasn't excited about the options. That ARII body and the wheels look good, but might be more chassis and interior work than I want. The 2009 will be a tribute and also, hopefully, a little better driver for a cross country run - although the new cars are a bit larger. I will, however, take you up on those decals! PM sent...

  4. Charlie - they are alphabetical by first letter of county - if they start with same letter, first alphabetically is 1 next is 2. So Bear County is 2B - the second B county. I work in 3B - Benewah, but we're a long ways from 2B, about 600 miles!

  6. The Idaho plate on the decal sheet is for a tiny county (even for Idaho standards) in the bottom right corner of the state - Bear Lake county. Funny choice.

  9. Couple photos: Wheels Some weird finish on wheel molding, both sides have it Detail on top of seats is soft Chassis is nice - no pin marks on bottom Super nice under hood - no pin marks!! I may start on this soon than later and see how it builds up...
  10. I just picked the kit up Friday, finishing up another model, then I'll take a closer look at the Comet. I love seeing new material and this kit looks really cool. The roofline I wouldn't have noticed as I've never seen one in real life, but the discussion piqued my interest. The couple things I noticed were the wheels (mags look nice, but the steel wheels - meh) and there is a bit of flash for a brand new tool. The engine looks a little better in person than the photos led me to believe - outside of the molded in oil filter and the very simplistic exhaust manifolds.
  11. Well, kind of of nit picking...but looking at photos, looks like the roofline itself is slightly more rounded? That leads to the window opening following the contour and differing from the real deal. It really is minor and wouldn't have noticed with my own eye...

  19. Here is the 'Cuda and its replacement, a 1974 Chevrolet Vega. This is the old Monogram kit with wheels from Fireball Modelworks. The story is completely fictional and the names, while some are actual, do not correspond to any real events.

In early 1971, Washington State Patrol Chief Oliver Furseth, a known Mopar fan, petitioned state legislator for the 9th district, Robert Goldworhty, to purchase experimental vehicles under a special provision to reduce traffic fatalities due to high speed encounters on interstate highways. The area around Ritzville, WA, void of concentrated population and having relatively flat terrain, prompted many drivers to drive at excessive speeds, and Chief Furseth, along with personal reasons, wanted to test vehicles capable of high speed pursuits. The purchase was approved and regional director John Humphries purchased a 1971 Plymouth Hemi Barracuda from West Side Plymouth in Fife, WA. The lowest price car they could acquire was a Sassy Grass Green car, which was painted white, rather haphazardly. The car saw duty from mid 1971 until 1974, when the State began looking for more fuel efficient car models due to increasing costs associated with the oil embargo. The Plymouth was sold in 1975 as surplus equipment for $746 to Represetnative Goldworthy and was seen periodically driving around Ritzville and Harrington, WA. The last known sighting was in 1980 and the whereabouts are currently unknown.
  21. I have a couple ideas that, given time, I will work on. My main focus and entry will be a tribute to Brock's Challenger based on Revells 2009 Challenger kit. Engine, tires and wheels TBD.
  22. Ford "banger" above. Never really had thoughts on the old four until I saw some of the TROG style cars...then realized how cool they are! Above is from the Revell '29 Woody with plugs from RB Motion.
  23. Interesting interior tub - no door panel detail seems a step back to the 80s. Looks well done otherwise.
