What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Keef replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’ve been contemplating getting a couple of this kit. Your mockup looks awesome! I’ll definitely be buying a couple now. -
This was the very first model I built at age 12. I would mow, weed whack, rake clippings, sweep sidewalks and wash my grandmothers car for which I was paid the handsome sum of $30(a lot of money for a kid 40 years ago) and she would take me to Kmart where they had models for $3.99-$4.99 at the time. My first couple of builds were unpainted (just Testors silver chrome sloppily brushed onto window trim)but one day I was asked if I would repaint her front porch table and chairs so that’s when I discovered spray paint. It’s been all downhill from there ????

What has been irking me for about a week now is the fact that for the past 2 years I’ve been telling the higher ups at work that another project manager/qc person was needed in our install department (sign and graphics printing company)and that it needed to be someone who had sign installation experience so they would know what was needed for each job and what to look for. I threw my hat in the ring when I originally suggested it and also when they announced that they were going to be opening up a position. I’ve been here for 5 years and I have around 10 years experience with sign and vinyl installation. Found out last week that they gave it to a guy that has been here for less than two years (that I have trained) and said it’s because “ we have one installer retiring soon and my “skills and experience “ are needed in the install department “ and that the other guy “is a better fit”. Am I irked? Yes…am I being salty about it? Probably so….am I being petty because I refuse to give suggestions or opinions on things anymore? Maybe. But I am definitely highly irked!!

Johan ‘70 Cadillac ElDorado pro touring (low and aggressive)

Actually it’s Testors Extreme Bronze lacquer. The wheels came from this kit from Fujimi. I haven’t decided on a color scheme yet though, although I do have an idea for one.- 220 replies

Absolutely beautiful build of an iconic Mopar!!!

Steve, I “skoshed” it down as far as I could and it still have the suspension off the ground ? I do have 3 more of these to build at a later date though so I may put one in the weeds with some larger wheels at some point. Building this one quick to get me out of the rut I’m in. I look at my current projects and I just don’t have the motivation to get back on them, hopefully this will help me.

Got the grille detailed and the first coat of paint on it. Going for a shop truck kind of look. I have it pictured in my head and I hope it turns out like my mind is picturing it.

If I’m not mistaken having owned numerous late70s-early 80s Dodge trucks, the 79-80 had two different grille options. There was my personal favorite, the quad headlight grille and the round headlight grille as well. I believe 79-80 had a different hood as well. 78 was the last year for the “birdbath” hood, 79-80 had a flat hood.

I too noticed the 2wd parts were included in the package. I was originally thinking of maybe picking up one or two, but after seeing that video I’m sure 6 or more will find their way to my stash. The possibilities are endless with this one and the long bed D100, as well as the availability of a resin short bed.

Bought 4 of these at Ollie’s awhile back and decided I needed something to get me out of my building slump. This will be my first curbside build ever. Stance mocked up and looks good to me.
