  1. Kurt, you could always say it was a 'day two' or 'year two' car. The video says that their '62 'vert had the heat tubes. Your car being a '60 could have had them installed in late '61 as those '62's were just hitting the road. I love how this is coming together! Kinds of give me inspiration to do my Mom's first new car which was a '68 Javelin she bought in late '67. I have the model, and the even the straight six to do it..........just need the ambition and of course the time!
  2. ^^^ What he said.........vacuforming isn't hard and sometimes necessary for less than stellar glass in a new kit.
  3. Yikes! Who was the seller?? They HAD to see that the hood should have been unsaleable! One reason I don't care for one pic sellers or ones that shoot pics from 'far away' as if to hide something.
  4. In regards to that blueprints link...........for us 'rivet counters' out there, this is GREAT for printing out a body shape for example, scale it to 1/25 and do any tweaks or changes that may not be quite right. I'm looking over several cars (Corvettes for instance) and a couple side profiles are well............not quite to my liking. STILL a great site! Yup!
  5. Ooooh! Thanks for that link! I see some other VERY interesting things there! DEFINITELY bookmarked!
  6. When I was in high school (late '70's) I can remember reading a book at our school's library about the history of VW. There was a chapter in the book that listed all the changes and yes, there was some sort of change each year. Some were very noticeable, some not so much. Of the '60's VW's, I can spot a '67 for instance in a millisecond. That was the last year of the bumper 'over-riders' and the first year for sealed beam headlights. Also that peculiar little backup lamp in the center of the bumper. One distinct thing I can remember about the rear engined Bugs was the exhaust 'tweet' or whistle which was noticeable (at least by me! ).
  7. Revell MAY offer a convertible since they were popular, but yeah......it would be nice to have an open top version of this.
  8. I got mine maybe 10 years ago, so I don't think Tapani makes it any longer. He makes the 'Sportwagon' which is another one I may try to grab sometime before it's unobtanium.
  9. Wow! Very nice! I once owned a 1:1 '65.....neat little car and it's too bad this was never offered in 1/24-25 scale for whatever reason. I have the resin AirTrax one, but it would be nice to see a mainstream kit of this car.
  10. Super slick and clean! One of Revell's BEST kits! Much better than the MPC one that's been around forever. I actually like your shade of green better than the 1:1! Suits the car better IMO.
  11. Maybe easier to widen the '69 bumper? The grille might be an issue to widen, but it's not too difficult to widen the bumper on the ends for instance and come up with something to make the grille pattern.
  12. Oh Yeah! Joseph is the BEST in the biz! It doesn't get any better than this! You can almost smell that Sunoco 260!
  13. You ain't kiddin'! This was part of my signature at one time--------The envious cry out 'It can't be done'! Mediocrity rules the day sadly and it's infected our hobby when it comes to kits in too many cases.
  14. They'll never do it. They never fixed that '58 Plymouth, so there's no way they'd redo the '53 into a '57-'58 Hawk sadly enough. Hate to sound cynical, but there's many missed opportunities Round 2 could have taken.
  15. Those are kits I'd hope Moebius would see fit to run someday. Especially the '57-'58 Golden Hawks.
  16. OK, I know time marches on and we can't stay stuck in the past, but there's something to be said about gasoline powered cars. I just can't get into either hybrids or full electric whatever. Having said that, I came across this article here and all I can do is have a "wait and see" attitude. I sure hope they don't mess with what's been a good thing for them.
  17. End of March huh? I had pretty much 'bout buried this one due to not one, but TWO warped hoods. A while back I came across an original plastic hood. If it wasn't for the 'Vette project going on and the REALLY big desire to get that '55 Ford FINALLY done, I'd drag this one out and redo it. Here is where I stopped where the SECOND hood had warped and I threw in the towel................ Scripts would be an issue too, so if I don't meet the deadline for March, I can see this getting done definitely before the end of the year for my own benefit. EDIT: Oops! I think I'm threadbare! I meant to post this in the other thread, but ending up posting it here! In the words of the late great Emily Litella..................'Never Mind!'
  18. She's a real beauty Rich! This brings back some kid memories as I remember a neighbor who lived at the end of our block in the later '60's had one of these. I always loved the looks of this car with all the windows down and it's sad that there are no true hardtops being built today. I also love the '57 triple window rear backlite which was a one year deal for Olds (and Buick) interesting enough. Your BMF looks terrific as those are not easy cars to foil.........especially in the areas where the trim is not well defined. I have a somewhat tired X-EL promo of this car........another dream project of mine is to make a suitable chassis for this and get one of MCW's Olds engines (if he still makes it). Some work, but like you mentioned, I don't see this car making it to our hobby shelves anytime soon. I keep thinking Moebius could step up to the plate as this car does have a race history. We'll see..................
  19. Kurt, if it were me doing those mods on the body, I'd be using a barrier coat of some sort before any kind of painting. I had the same thing happen to my stillborn '55 Ford Victoria, but it didn't rear its ugly head till later on with the color coats. More work, but in the long run less headaches!
  20. I want to add that I've got a '61 T-Bird promo that I have to CONSTANTLY make sure there's a penny or something in front of one of its tires. Failing that, it's already rolled off the shelf and on to the floor! No damage, but reinforces why I don't like rolling models. It needs a case, but at the moment I have none for it.
  21. Nice (or not so nice) models should NEVER roll!
  22. Thanks Ron! The body on the Revell one will need some 'stretching' especially with the wheelbase. The rear wheels are too close to the trailing edge of the door. I'd use a massaged '87 T-Bird chassis and of course, I'd have to fab up an air suspension. One of my favorites from the '80's and one of Ford's nicer designs of that era.
  23. A dream project of mine using the Revell Lincoln. I've got all the bits and pieces to do it.........It's just a matter of having more than 24 hours in a day!
  24. If you remember my '74 Corvette resto here, I had to do just that. My local paint jobber mixed a solid green as opposed to a metallic and I mixed in the gold flake to get the shade I wanted. After the paint was dry, I then put in some green dye in the clear to give the paint some depth, and to enhance the metallic effect somewhat. The flakes for what I needed are in 'scale' even though the digicam highlights them a bit more than perhaps it should. Such is the case with digicams.
  25. I missed out by not getting their '60 Eldorado Brougham. I had ordered the '76 Coupe DeVille and the thought struck me when they were getting rid of stock to try and snag that Eldo, but it was gone. So either I scratch up one, or end up paying a super high price on the 'Bay if/when one ever turns up.
