  1. Windshield and floor mats are deler installed options........for an extra $750,000
  2. Not a problem Jeff. I didn't realize how much the Lindberg kit was off until about 10 years ago when I was at a car show looking at a 64 Dodge and then went home and looked at the 2 bodies again. You can also see in the pic that I posted that the front fenders and rear quarters and both just a little bit longer on the JoHan body, I can't say for sure which is more correct there but I'd probably put my money on the JoHan.
  3. JoHan on the left, Lindberg on the right. Look at the base of the windshield and back of the hood and you'll see what I mean about the amount of curve. If you're able to look at your friends car or your friend looks at this picture you'll know how bad Lindberg missed this.
  4. The JoHan kit body is actually much closer to the 1:1 car than the Lindberg. The Lindberg body isn't bad and the chassis, engine, and interior are much better but if you compair both bodies side by side you'll quickly see that Lindberg got the windshield shape wrong (too flat) compaired to the JoHan and 1:1 Dodge. I'll see if I can find my JoHan and post pics later.
  5. Did we really need this ??? http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/09/hpp-richard-petty-superbird-quick-spin-review/
  6. Past dead ??? You can't kill a Slant !!!
  7. Thanks,............now I'm going to have nightmares.
  8. Do we really need a new setting just so people can post more General Lee builds ????????
  9. Actually, I was thinking of the West grandstands. The last few years thy have had a bunch of old race cars and/or rods. For the 50th US Nats they had 50 past winners, another year they had almost as many old Gassers. Can't wait to see your pics, if anyone is interested here are links to my pics from past years. 2005: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/slantasaurus/Hemi%20Shootout%202005%20U%20S%20Nats/ 2006: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/slantasaurus/Hemi%20Shootout%202005%20U%20S%20Nats/ 2006 S&M Tribute: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/slantasaurus/Hemi%20Shootout%202008/ 2006 Gassers: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/slantasaurus/U%20S%20Nats%20Gassers%202006/ 2008: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/slantasaurus/Hemi%20Shootout%202008/ 2009: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/slantasaurus/U%20S%20Nats%20Gassers%202006/ 2010: http://s942.photobucket.com/albums/ad261/slantasaurus_2/U%20S%20Nats%202010/
  10. I forgot to ask, what was in the Special Display area behind the grandstands ???
  11. Glad you had a good time Andy, wish I could have made it this year. Did you get to see any of the Hemi Shootout, I heard that the War Fish won again.
  12. Collect'em all.......after you win the lottery.
  13. After 16M for a slot car, this seems like a bargin..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-Worlds-only-tubine-powered-Batmobile-/280730252092?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item415cd3b33c#v4-34
  14. There are several good hobby shops around Chicago, the question becomes where will you be staying and how will you be getting around. If you are staying in downtown Chicago you will have to do a good bit of traveling to get to the hobby shops. If you are staying near O'Hare airport I know several hobby shops in that area as I live only minutes away. If you are renting a car you could probably hit most of them in 1 day, if you are using public transportation it's going to be difficult to get to them. As for the hobby shops themselves there are 4 that come to mind that would be worth the trip. The first that most people in this area seem to like (but I don't) is Al's Hobby in Elmhurst, IL a little west of Chicago they will have airbrushes and some kits but I think its more of an R/C and train store. Second is Venture Hobbies in Buffalo Grove, IL its a little bit of a drive north of Chicago but they have a better selection of kits and will also have airbrushes. The other 2 won't have airbrushes but will have a kit selection (including out of production kits) that will blow your mind, Ram Hobby and train in Chicago on the north-west side and Forever Timeless also on the north-west side of Chicago. The last 2 places aren't too far from each other and the prices there are the best you'll find in the area. Feel free to PM me if you want more info or directions to any of these places. Enjoy your trip to the USA.
  15. Amazing, I thought that the chat room was the only place that my posts weren't showing up but aparently they are invisible here too.
  16. The closest chassis would probably be the AMT 62 Pontiac but getting the JoHan interior to work with it might be a problem and you would still need an engine from another kit like the AMT 66 442, MPC/AMT 69 442, or Revell 72 H/O.
  17. Sorry to hear about all the damage, at least you and your family are OK.
  18. I have or at least had a set of dog dishes like that in my parts box at one time. I'm not sure where they came from, someone told me they were from a early 70's Chevy P/U but I've never had one of those kits. All I can tell you is that they are out there.
  19. I've been to the US Nats 9 of the last 10 years if you can possibly go on Friday, the Hemi Shootout for the 1968 SS/AH Hemi Dart's and Barracuda's is the greatest racing of the weekend.
  20. Undrestood, I haven't had one of the new AMT's in my hands to see how good/bad they are. I would like to build a model of Bad Brads car though.
  21. Nice build, wouldn't it be easier to convert the new AMT COT to Dodge spec than the old Revell Intrepid ???
  22. Looks an awful lot like the Chrysler Pheaton show car from 1997. Maybe Caddy thoght everyone forgot about it..... http://www.allpar.com/cars/concepts/1997-phaeton.html
  23. It looks like this could make a really cool wagon. If I was doing this swap I would measure about 1/4"-3/8" behind the windshield opening and cut the roofof the Charger, that way it will keep the A pillars structurally sound and you'll still be able to use the kit windshield. Then you can shorten the wagon's roof to match up with the Charger's roof and add some Evergreen underneith to strengthen the seam.
