When Did This Happen?
slantasaurus replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You do have to consider that this IS Nissan we're talking about. Look across the rest of their offerings, the Cube (did they tell the stylests that curves were a bad thing ???), the Juke (makes the Aztek owners feel better)......just looked at Nissan's website so I could remember what else they are making right now. The rest of the line up isn't the best looking but doesn't come close to those 3...........Then I noticed something, the regular roofed, 4 dr Murano has a starting price of $29290...the Murano Cross Cabriolet starts at $44540 !!!!! http://www.nissanusa.com/buildyournissan/modelLine/index -
Since several of you already know this is coming I thought I'd start the thread now. I'm going to wait until Jan 1st to unvail the rules though. First I'd like to thank Jantrix who has moderated the Cannonball Runs on the other forum for the past few years, he has done a wonderfull job and I can only hope to make this years as much fun as his have been. It is with his blessing that I have taken over moderating and moving this years Cannonball to this site as we still have a "Poll" feature and that will be very important as for the first time ever there will be actuall prizes for the top 3 vote getters (excluding myself if I should place). I'm still finalizing a few detalis as I was thinking of a Feb 1st start but I think I will move that up to Jan 1st when I post the rules. Some of you from the other forum may know what I have in mind already, but lets not post any hints just yet. The better question is WHY did this happen..... -
The Gumball Rally- GUMBALL HAS STARTED
slantasaurus replied to Nick Winter's topic in Community Builds
I should say something about the Cannonball Run CBP before you guys get too many ideas. I will be starting a seperate post for it in another day or 2, but the "rules" will be a little stricter than whan Nick has going on here so some of your ideas aren't going to work for it. An Audi isn't going to work unless you can find a really old Audi kit. You'll see what I have in mind soon enough and I think you will like the idea that I have for it.......Now back to your regularly scheduled Rally.... -
I just used Testors One Coat Bronze on another build I just finished.....be careful, I might try to take this one home "by mistake" thinking its my Capri......lol

Boring builds...

Cut it up and build a Bonniville streamliner......lol -
Chrysler actually issued a technical bulliten to all of their factory racers telling them they could lose factory support if they didn't stop the practice of "Neutral drop" launches. Double D is right about the sprag failure too, that is why you can now get a bolt in sprag conversion to replace the factory press fit sprag. the Torqueflight transmission is a tough piece, imagine what the damage would be like if it were a Powerglide, C4, or Turbo 350.

Have you tried Penske's website, there should be some good pics there too I would think.

The Gumball Rally- GUMBALL HAS STARTED
slantasaurus replied to Nick Winter's topic in Community Builds
Hello Gumball Rallyers, just in case you didn't know I have taken over moderating the Cannonball Run CBP from Jantrix and I was planning on moving it from SA over here to MCM for 2012. I didn't realize that Nick had started the Gumball and he didn't know I was moving the Cannonball here but I PM'ed him yesterday and I think we agreed that there is room for both here on the forum. I will be posting information on the 2012 Cannonball Run after the 1st of the year, it will be a little stricter in the year and equiptment requirements so that will keep things different. Anyone involved in the Gumball is more than welcome to also join the Cannonball, I'm considering an entry in the Gumball myself (kinda thinking Chevy Monza...but still unsure of that). Stay tuned for Cannonball info and good luck to all the Gumball entrys. -
I'm really liking this one Frank, you might just get me to pull my Testors/Italeri version off the shelf. Maybe we can both bring them to the club meeting and show them together.

I would much rather see the 1927 Model T / XR-6 double kit reissued. If I remember right there are parts of the Ala Kart tooling that is missing/damaged, that is why they did an all new tool, which has a few issues but is worth it just for the wheels and tires. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-AMT-XR6-ROADSTER-1927-T-FORD-PLASTIC-MODEL-/280768849631?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415f20a6df

MPC "Street Charger" Any good?
slantasaurus replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It depends on what you want. If you want a stock street Charger, it falls a little short. The chassis is Nascar based on the Petty kit and is the same as the DoH kit that is out now. As a street machine, its not bad, the interior (at least in the last issue which I have) is closer to stock than the DoH kit. There is a stock dash, rear seat, and buckets. There is lots of room for adding extra detailing. The Hemi engine is pretty good, the front wheelwells are flaired out and not stock. Overall it builds up easy, can be mde really nice if you are willing to accept its shortcomings. -
Can I see some crazy Drivetrain swaps?!
slantasaurus replied to Jesse D's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I just finished this swap last week, Boss 302 into a 75 Ford Capri, the engine compartment is very narrow on this kit. -

Another source are the AMT 33 Ford sedan and coupe street rods. The sedans are hard to find now but the coupe can still be found easily. -
