  1. Pretty much is. A life time's collection.........
  2. Thanks. I have been wanting to start these builds for quite some time. If you check my post on Work Bench Saturday's, you will see one of my problems.....too many choices to build!!!!!
  3. Yes, I have that problem as well..... Which is why I have recently disposed of about ten % of the collection. Still too many choices! Much of this has come from a local hobby shop's "scratch and dent" section. We can rifle through the stuff and most of the time the kit is fine. And it ends up being a $4.00 kit. At that price, even if there is a missing or damaged piece, it works just for kit bash projects!
  4. Yep. I am big time. Thanks! It's about 20 or so years of accumulation........
  5. First post for Work Bench Saturdays for me. I spent a couple of days rearranging and cleaning the work space.....here are the results still needing a bit more cleaning..... First today's actual work: It is the second of a planned three Mazda Miata build. This one is an SCCA E Production racer. In the back ground you can see the first part of the trio of Miata's, the Spec Miata. Also on the bench is a Tamiya Honda Civic racer that has stalled. Build wise! Here is the two benches behind the first bench. The toaster oven on the bench is for vacuforming.: Part of the kit storage to the front of the first bench: And more kit storage.....: And the entry to the shop: There is still more storage, but I did not get pictures of it! Anyway, the new work space is much more in tune with actually working!!! Prior to the rearranging, there was not enough actual building space. Most of it was taken up by the paint tower and the TV. Relocating them to other benches and to the top of the two printer type face drawer cabinets I store tools, decals, and misc. parts for projects. Over all I'm liking the new digs. Hope you enjoy!!
  6. The E Production Miata got started today to compliment the SM Miata. This photo shows the relative difference between the two from the front: Here is a close up of the front of the EP Miata.....the front air dam is the front bumper from a Hasegawa Civic that had a crushed roof. The Honda "mouth" will be replaced with the Mazda "mouth" from the Revell kit's front bumper sorta like the nose of the Tamiya SM Miata here: The fender flares on the front were part of a Fujimi wide body kit for some obscure Japanese car: I started the rear flares as well today, but I ran out of camera power..... More later. Enjoy the pics! Oh yeah, after all of the plastic rough in of the body comes the bondo.....
  7. The Grand Sport project began with the 63, even though it did not have the factory split window.....that arrangement weighed too much! The chassis had nothing to do with the Vette you could buy....other than the suspension. The frame was a round tube affair tha was stiffer than the stock frame and lighter as well. This build is very nice closely resembling the Sebring car Driven by Roger Penske among others. The hood is not correct for that car, as it had the louvered hood with the louvers covered, and did not have the single oil cooler on the rear deck, but instead had a pair of smaller coolers, actually GM power steering coolers on either side of the location for the single cooler. R&MCOM has the proper power steering coolers available in resin. A nice build of a tough kit.
  8. I forgot to show what a real one looks like.....Taken in the paddock at Road America
  9. Ooops....got the last pic wrong. Here is the correct one: I hope you all enjoy my trip into the world of left AND right turn small bore racing!!!
  10. It's funny how things happen some time. After spending weeks in the work shop packing models for trade and for sale, I found myself with a shop floor I couldn't see. Trash day was coming up so I decided to do the "task". After a bunch of stuff was cleared out, nicely filling the garbage can I might add, I decided I needed to re arrange things to allow for more room to work. To end a long story, I started a new build..... I am a huge fan of SCCA amateur road racing. I have been planning a trio of SCCA subjects, all based around the Mazda Miata. A second gen Aishima Miata kit will replicate an actual SCCA T1 Miata, and a Revell Miata will build an SCCA E Production Miata. The first to get started is a Spec Miata first gen car, using the Tamiya kit as the basis of the build. I may be doing all three of these at more or less the same time as it is too cold to be spraying paint, so construction is in order.... The first thing to do was to mate the interior bucket to the chassis: Next was to start modifying the stock interior for racing. The dremel made short order of the console and shift boot: Next the interior door panels were hogged out: The resulting hole was filled with thin sheet plastic and trimmed to blend in: Here is the test fit of the initial roll cage, made up of parts box pieces and plastic rod. I am using the Revell kit dash as the Tamiya dash was right hand drive: The first fit of the chassis and interior to the body and roof reveals I have work yet to do in lowering the cage height! Last pic for now shows the chassis/interior/cage inside the body and propped up on the wheel and tire package I'll be using which came from a Hasegawa Toyots Celica WRC kit I scavenged for parts: More to come soon.
  11. Thanks! Any suggestion as to where I can find the Matador red, or something close. Am I right in guessing it is an orangish red? Thanks!
  12. Stunning is all I can think of. Congrats on a beautiful build!
  13. OK. A couple of color questions for the drag racing crowd here...what shade of light blue for the Stone Cook and Wood Willy's Revell kit, and what shade of red for the new Pittman Willy's Gasser. I'm thinking an at the same time build is in order...... Sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum for this.....
  14. Are these items 1/24th scale? I must have the P1800 ES, Amazon and SAAB!!!!
  15. IMSANUT

Very nice indeed! This and it's TR3 stablemate from Gunze are on my short list for certain!
  16. Indeed. Or four or five more.....!
  17. Not sure the year, but I need a proper set of tail lights and rear panel for my Penske Javelin, early second gen car with tail lights like the first gen.....
  18. Very nice build. I have just this version in my "racing Vette's to build " section of the shop.

  22. I like this a lot. Great work on the driver.
  23. Interesting car. Very nice build thus far. Any history on the 1:1?
  24. Hmmm. AVG did not for me. He usually posts some items like the Kirkey seat on Ebay. That is how I found out about, and purchased from Dirt Modeler. That's also how I got on his site....
