  1. The hinges are VERY fragile. I'd consider replacing the pins with drilled holes and a small diameter (straight pin) wire instead. It is a fiddly kit, but very cool once completed. Oddly, one of my favorite bits of the kit are how real the tires look.....I did no one thing to make them look as they do.
  2. Do you have a web address, email address or plain old mailing address for the fecal maker? Thanks! Nice build by the way!
  3. I'm involved with similar project. A good tip on cages is to drill through the floor pan in the four down tube locations so you get the height you need. Also, build them from the roof down, that way you can get it good and snug to the roof line. Hopefully this helps. I look forward to more pics of the build as it progresses!
  4. Awesome looking build!
  5. So, how far off is the Challenge kit from the IMSA / ALMS 430? I had purchased the Revell 430 with thoughts on building the racing version, as there are severl decal sheets available from Patto's. All was well in my mind till I saw an issue of Road and rack where they did sofe by side on track comparisons of the street and ALMS versions of the Porsche GT3, BMW M3, Corvette ZR1, Jaguar XK R, and the Ferrari 430. The magazine had great back to back side views of each pair......there are huge differences in the side views... So, my real question, save the hyperexpensive resin kit of the ALMS 430, where would you start?? Thanks, Jim
  6. Wow. I had NO idea the old Monogram 904 would build up so nice. And brilliant idea on using the Fujimi 911 spare tire wheels for the rims! I have a question though.....how did you get the windshield chrome AND black rubber so cleanly?? Beautiful builds!!!
  7. Beautiful build! I have one of the race versions of these in my stash. I used the kit you have built as a means to modify an Italeri 944 turbo to match my 1:1 1983 944. They are indeed neat simple kits. One of the TR7's will be the Group 44 car that was a subject in an old MRRN issue.
  8. Very nice build!
  9. Gotta love it!
  10. What an intriguing project. Looking forward to more of this!
  11. What brand of paint, and code if any, did you use for the green....
  12. Stunning build. I also just checked out the WIP pics as well. Very clean craftmanship.
  13. Thanks for the kind words! Believe it or not, EVERYTHING that was painted, was brush painted. The black was from the the short lived Revell / Monogram line of water based paint.
  14. Very mice indeed. Makes me wish I had not traded the kit I had.....!
  15. Stunning build of what I believe to be the single prettiest street Ferrari ever built. And, I like the color as well!
  16. I have a multitude of items that I have purchased from Perry's, and though they took a bit of time to arrive (not near like Reliable), Randy was always cordial on the phone, and long winded as I remember, and the pieced were always FLAWLESS! This was all before opening a brick and mortar Hobby Shop, and I have heard, from him specifically, that the time needed was more than was really handy, and aspects of the resin business, namely wheels and tires were no longer going to be sold via the net. I have not ordered anything in a while, but I do have an order brewing in my head for projects that are reaching the surface.....
  17. Yes it would, and let's hope Revell has the smarts to do this OBVIOUS version. Besides if they actually tooled for the correct road race parts including the roll cage, they could run those in the T/A Challenger kit as well given their virtually design. Why is it that the vintage road racers are almost always ignored?
  18. Thanks for the great review. It will be the Aoshima version for me. I expect to see lots of these roller skates on the track at Road America next June. Looks like the insertion of the Tamiya motor will not be much of an issue. I plan on keeping an eye open at the local hobby shop's scratch and dent section for the Tamiya to complete the Aoshima kit.
  19. Very nice!
  20. Outstanding. Yes, the pleasure that is arrived at after assembling a Tamiya kit is awesome. There is not another company that is better in my book. Again, beautiful work.
  21. Well done! Welcome to the board!
  22. Nice indeed.
  23. l build of an awesome race car!
  24. Very nicely done sir!
