  1. I'm liking this idea a lot. I considered the same using a Viper roof. What color scheme are you considering? I might consider a wing from one of the Revell C5r or C6R kits instead of the straight flat one. Looking cool!
  2. I'll have to add this to the pile, as I have all the other versions of this kit. Over all, a fairly painless kit for Revell to re-issue. I sure wish they'd update the C6R to more recent ALMS versions body wise at least.
  3. Was it the small item referred to as a "bump" in resin, or the vac formed "hump"? I sold Randy those masters years ago. I never did get to marketing the "bumps", but I sold a bunch of the "humps". Which livery 962 are you building?
  4. Nice build. I have a 1/25th Revell kit of the early version I'd part with.
  5. The pictures and info are wonderful I'll be adding these to the stash of info I have for my build!!!
  6. Would that not be the same engine in the Fujimi BMC Mini?
  7. Spot on on both comments! A truly awful styling exercise. There is one of these kits on evilbay now.
  8. A very stunning build of a car that leaves me cold. Very sanitary work on what is a tough build. Bravo.
  9. It originally was a Pyro kit. Has anyone considered converting it to a Spitfire?
  10. I have A2, 3 and 5 Fujimi Golf kits, and aside from being curbside, are very good indeed. Their A2 is much truer to the prototype than the Revell kit, especially the front fenders and hood. The Tamiya racing A1 and their four door A4 are very nice as well. I do wish AMT would re introduce their Rabbit though.
  11. I have both the Tamiya street version Testors / Italeri street version, and the Fujimi racing version. It depends on what version of the car you want to build. The Fujimi pretty closely copies the earliest racing version, and with minimal fuss, replicates the car ran in the IMSA endurance series. It is curbside, but is easily kit bashed with the Testors / Italeri kit for full detail. The Tamiya kit is wonderful for both street versions of the later racing versions. The Testors / Italeri kit does indeed have stance issues.
  12. IIRC, the Super Beetle had Macpherson struts for front suspension instead of the parallel torsion bars, correct?
  13. While I cannot speak for others, in my instance it is partially due to trying to fill a category. An an example, it has been a goal for me to obtain every kit or decal variant for IMSA GTP, and GTO class race cars. I also have done a similar thing with SCCA club racing subjects, collecting models that could be used in 1:1 builds, as well as generic builds. And while I've been at it, Trans Am subjects, both vintage and more recent. Also, the IMSA cars, many were only done in resin, thus making them relatively rare. Consequently, when I see one come up on evilbay, it gets followed and bid on. Just my 2 cents worth.
  14. Very well executed build of a beautiful kit / car. Most realistic looking to boot. I was just looking at my still born IMSA version of this same kit. I had forgotten just how gorgeous the kit supplied markings look. Great job.
  15. Photography, specifically 35mm photos of road racers (surprise!), reading, politics and most importantly music and good stereo equipment with an emphasis on LP's.
  16. An accurate FIA 289 Cobra would sell like hot cakes I believe. Seen what Revell FIA Cobra slot bodies are going for? As to a good affordable Cobra Daytona, I'm waiting with money in hand.
  17. Both Ferrari and Maserati are part of Fiat.
  18. Art's last paragraph nails exactly what my original thought was, though much better explained.
  19. IIRC, it is a light gray, sort of like Testors Gull gray. The engines were Traco built, and they were all gray. Check for photo's of the Penske Camaro's also. Sorry, I have no pics to share.....
  20. Very interesting build here. I've been considering a build of my 2001 Ram 2500 club cab for some time. You've given me some great information and detail ideas to work with. Good luck with your project.
  21. Many of the hero's of a generation have passed to the perfect sound stage in the sky.
  22. Yes indeed. Sweating the details is an affliction I share. I too have seen models that were amazing only to be let down by something a little simple google search could have cured.....
  23. Indeed it does, proving to me that clear can work when not dipped in it! I like this a lot.
  24. Wished I could be there to get one, but that isn't happening......
