  1. That was a great gesture on your part, you're very generous.
  2. Good point there Bill and it makes sense too. Guess I'll be scrounging around for more wedge engines.
  3. I myself think that don & Carol made a BIG mistake by working and still working on orders when they wanted to retire awhile ago. When I have worked most of my life and I want to retire, it's that simple that it's time to retire and not be dictated by outside sources, like customers or the boss asking you to stay longer, etc.
  4. I wish the kit would've included those pinstripe decals for the sides as well as steel wheels and dog dishes, and also a 440 c.i. motor too while I'm on a roll. I don't think the model companies listen too well when we ask for certain things that should be a "given" in kits.
  5. There are none that I need or want on this list. All I need is MORE motivation to build the stuff I already have.
  6. I too try to support my local hobby shop (10 miles) even though I have a Hobby Lobby just 1/2 mile from my house. It is a mom & pop shop and hopefully when they decide to retire, I believe the grandson will take it over as he works there often. They also carry trains which I do at Christmas time with my grandson. So it would be a great loss to me if they ever folded, and the next closest hobby shops are 40 & 50 miles away.
  7. It is, at least I thought so.
  8. I love Honolulu but my wife doesn't and traffic is one of the reasons. I would go back there in a heartbeat and last year we spent a week in Maui and that was great also.
  9. Wow what a beautiful job on that rail. I had built one several years ago but I made a lot of changes to it and it no longer looks like an Ivo car. I had met Tommy Ivo at National Trail Raceway back in 2007 and he is really a nice guy. Maybe someday I'll build the Ivo dragster just like you did.
  10. Sorry to hear of Ed's passing and your loss of a friend. A lot of us on this board including myself will miss his friendship, posts, and of course his beautiful photos. May he R.I.P.
  11. Wow Jean, that is a great lookin' display of awesome trucks and figures too. Congrats on a job VERY well done.
  12. Don't forget Mele Kalikimaka which is Merry Christmas, and also Ohana which is family.
  13. I love Hawaii as I've been there twice and ready to go back anytime, however my wife doesn't want to go back. Sigh! I only know 4 or 5 words in Hawaiian.
  14. Sorry to hear of your fathers passing, and you have my condolences as well. Remember the good times with him.
  15. Be sure to check out Bob's Paints as he has a vast amount of colors, and a lot of very good modelers use his paints to get award winning finishes. Try it as you won't be sorry.
  16. Yes lacquer paints do go on thin and that's what you want. If the paint is thick it will cover up the details which is not what you want. I try to paint my bodies with as few coats as I can so I don't hide the details like the chrome trim, emblems, lettering, etc. With lacquer paints you can get orange peel too, however to avoid that, I spray closer to the body and move the can faster so the paint doesn't dry before reaching the body.
  17. Very nice collection you have there. I myself wouldn't mind building a few of those if I had the time, and I would build mine as "injected funnies" as I remember them well at my local drag strip back-in-the-day.
  18. It was a horrible day that I'll never forget, and I did forget to bring in the flag tonight that I hung out this morning. I was working at a Naval base shortly after 911 and I was greeted by an armed guard (soldier) every morning when I drove onto the base. I didn't mind that at all. If people don't like to be screened at the airport they don't have to, they can simply DRIVE instead of taking a plane. Simple.
  19. They will find that they're still alive, which is a good start.
  20. About those trees, I recently talked to my insurance agent and was told that if a live tree falls and damages my house I'm covered, if it's a dead tree and I didn't have it removed before hand it's "on me."
  21. VERY nice build on that famous altered as I remember it well from seeing it at Great Lakes Dragaway and maybe Rockford Dragway back in the mid-late 60's.
  22. Well you know that if you got "detoured" doing something else, those things happen all the time to MANY people myself included.
  23. It's good you got some bodies painted for winter building, and I hope to get a couple painted myself however I've been pretty busy and have to make a couple of business trips also. We'll see??? Just tell your girl friend that you saved some work for her in case she wanted to "pitch in." LOL!
