If it's pro-built, how come a number of pieces have fallen off??? I always use 5-Minute Epoxy which is expensive and even wasteful, but my cars stay together, and no need to bring a repair kit when I take models to display at a club meeting or NNL.
When I was building model trucks, I had a book by Phil Jensen on Building Model Trucks and was able l to make a day cab conversion that turned out great. Wish I still had the book and the model.
If I'm not mistaken all my Danbury and Franklin Mint cars came from the factory already polished, and all I do is dust them once in awhile. After all they're not real cars and don't go out in the elements.
Very nice job on that Wildcat build Randy and I love that factory color too. Hey Tamiya is a factory isn't it? I always paint my model car bodies with as few coats of primer, color, and clear as I can get away with so that I don't bury the scripts.
More expensive filters, I believe they're called HEPA (?) filters may eliminate a lot of your dust problems. You could also check and get some advice from a commercial HVAC company as they build "clean rooms" for labs and factory engineering.
When I was building model trucks back in the 70's & early 80's I used to subscribe to Overdrive magazine for reference photos, information, and an inside view of over the road trucking.
Yes a LOT of people don't use their turn signals when they're driving, or this is one of my favorite peeves is when they have to "brake" before putting on their turn signal. LOL!!! Who ever taught drivers to do that? Or so called drivers put on their turn signals when they meet the intersection where they're turning. Why not just use their signal after they turn so people know where they've been? It is getting more dangerous on the roads everyday.
I'm into enough model car and 1:1 car stuff already and don't have the time for cars on TV. Recently picked up the new The Fate of the Furious DVD a few weeks ago and still haven't watched it, even though I already saw the movie at the theater earlier this year. NO cars on TV for me, now if only I could stop watching baseball???
I agree as I don't bring models, car magazines, computers, on my vacations either as I want to get away from that stuff for awhile, and it'll all be there when I get back.
I just got some really nice Mopar steel wheels w/center hubs from Danny today at Scenes Unlimited, and they're gonna look really good on an upcoming build. He's got some really good products that he's offering and more comin'. Check out his website at: www.scenesunltd.com
I use model car kit boxes to transport my built models to shows, club meetings, NNL's. I wrap them in an old rag and use paper towels and newspapers for padding. It works for me.
Sounds like Don & Carol are going to be too exhausted when they do retire, as they're at the mercy of their customers. Oh well, so much for working for yourself.
