  1. You too Harry? LOL!
  2. It will be on April 8th, 2017 next year, so put that date aside and let nothing get in the way of you attending next year. That's what I do and it works. You'll be glad you did. One year I even cancelled a trip to Buffalo because it would interfere with me attending the Milwaukee NNL .
  3. Good point Harry and very true. He's been suffering for awhile and it was only getting worse with time.
  4. Yes, like I said I have a couple parts to add to the chassis, and then I'll shoot a couple of photos and post them. Hang on!
  5. Thanks Jim, as he had on his "bucket list" to reach the age of 70 and he did that last November.
  6. Yep, as I mentioned before that I "shoulda" bought more Danbury & Franklin MInts while they were still in business. I did however on my way to the Milwaukee NNL last Saturday stop at the Model Empire in West Allis and picked up the Franklin Mint '60 Chevrolet Impala with the 6-cyl. engine. This is a "switch" me as my DM & FM are cars of the 50's.
  7. Good eye you have, cause you did. However back-in-the-day when converting from a standard trans to an automatic, sometimes as in this case the pedals aren't always changed.
  8. No, an automatic on the tree.
  9. A very good friend of mine passed away this morning at age 70. He's had a bad case of COPD for a few years now and knew this day was comin'. Of course it doesn't make things easier for those who love him and knew him. He was a very generous person, and when he was working he has helped me out several times when I was in need of a job. I had helped him and his wife move last summer as he wanted things to be set for his better half when the time came. The time is today and he will be missed dearly by many. May he R.I.P.
  10. Very nice build and worthy of the People's Choice award. It was great having you and your friends at this event and I hope that you had a safe trip home.
  11. Thanks for the comments guys as I have a few more things to add this week to the model. First is the reworked tie-rod, and also I made a driveshaft hoop, I will be adding the outside mirror on the drivers side, and maybe (?) ladder bars also.
  12. Wow that's a long project Dave, and it's lookin' real good.
  13. That Plymouth Super Stock is just gorgeous Jim as I saw it last Saturday at the NNL, and I hope that I didn't get any drool on it. I just love dem Mopars!
  14. I'm going to check with my LHS tomorrow to see if they'll be getting the Moebius/Model King Melrose Missle and California Flash Super Stock kits. If not I guess it's mail-order for me.
  15. I believe so, as there's a saying: what you see here today may not be here tomorrow.
  16. Check out my "gasser" build under Drag Racing (Revell '57 Gasser) as I didn't wait for Revell to issue one, I made my own. Of course most of the parts came from Revell kits also like the 427 & the front suspension parts.
  17. I think that a lot of plastic modelers today have been building plastic model kits back in the 50's & 60's and have been doing it since, or they have quit the hobby for awhile and then came back. As far as the younger generation goes, I choose to build plastic kits way back when as it was my hobby. What the kids choose to do today as far as hobbies is up to them.
  18. Maybe you just need a vacation Harry. It's in the low 80's in Honolulu this week.
  19. I did that about six years ago, and things didn't pan out after the wedding a few years later. So be sure to have money for a lawyer as well as for the wedding bash.
  20. Mrindy77, is this the first time you've been to the Milwaukee NNL, or no? I've been going for more than 15 years now and there's still plenty of space for next years show to add 300 more models. If the PA system is too noisy for you, you could've asked the DJ to quite it a notch. As far as helping to arrange the cars on the tables, I believe that most modelers want to do it themselves without any other help.
  21. That looks awesome Jim, and next year I'd like to meet you in person at the Milwaukee NNL.
  22. Some of those Nomads ran in M/P or modified production, and the Corvettes ran in M/SP or modified sports classes. The color is Tamiya Metallic Orange and it would look great on a number of cars.
  23. Thanks for the kudos guys as this build is more like a "shelf model" and far from a contest entry. I did enjoy building it, and with 10 gassers built on my shelves, I think I'm gonna build something else for awhile.
  24. Very nice job on that old truck Gramps, very nice!
  25. I usually wipe down the model with a "tack rag" before spraying primer, color, or clear on the body and this seems to help keep most if not all the dust from getting into the paint.
