  1. Nice build Mike and I like the paint also.
  2. That's what happens when they are elected "by the people" to work "for the people" and instead work for themselves. It's gonna be hard on his poor family, but it's okay that he screwed the people of Illinois. Yeah right!
  3. I like that DeSoto kit as I've got a couple on the way and should arrive early next week. I didn't get anything today but I did sell 5 kits and 1 resin body as I'm thinning out the heard some.
  4. I've been using Devcon 5 Minute Epoxy for the last several years as it has a strong bond and dries clear.
  5. Good idea on backing the pillar with another longer one Scott and I'll have to remember that when I fix a broken one. Thanks.
  6. I can take a $140 original issue model and a $18 re-issue of the same kit and build them alike. And when I put them on the table NO one can or would be able to tell the differece.
  7. You can check with Scale Equiptment Ltd. for crates as they may have some?
  8. Well Harry, another one of our ex-govenors who lived in "Crook County" now is living at the Graybar Hotel.
  9. The upcoming '50 Olds kit by Revell should have a nice engine for a traditional rod.
  10. Illinois modelers, I just posted earlier today the upcoming NNL 20 in the Contest & Shows section. Check it out as there will be LOTS of models on the tables, a good raffle, rock n' roll music, and the other magazine will be shooting photos also. It's in the Milwaukee area and I hope to see you there!
  11. This was done in the early 70's with AMT lacquers from the rattle cans.
  12. Harry, it says NO Buying or Selling but some guys can't read or they think it doesn't apply to them.
  13. How'bout making a tractor grille for it? I believe one of the model car mags did a tutorial on making one a couple years back. If the body was lower I would suggest using a track nose & grille, but it sits too high for this.
  14. ONLY one month from todays date on April 14th from 3-9 pm at:The Excellence Center Waukesha N4 W22000 Bluemound Rd. Waukesha, Wi 53186 (262) 521-0358 For mor info: mdowd@wi.rr.com or scottiek1@charter.net This years theme is Sportscars & Roadracing and the sub-theme is LeMans Winners
  15. Don't feel bad Patrick as a lot of us have done some dumb modeling things in the past including myself. Live and learn. I remember the Woolworth stores "back in the day" also.
  16. I have two air-brushes and a compressor and I don't know when I've used them last. I manage to get good results with a "rattle-can" and can do two tones, triple tones, fades, etc.. It works for me.
  17. The AMT (not MPC) kit did come with a chopped roof. If you check Gasser Wars publication by Larry Davis you will see that Ohio George ran a chopped version at on time and also a Stock height roof at one time also. As you can see from my avatar I used a resin body to build mine.
  18. I saw an Auto Transporter kit at a swap meet a week and a half ago and the vendor was asking $140 for it.
  19. Yeah Ron, I think I've been at Zenith before, and I do know of the hobbyshop on Belmont also. My mom lived on the NW side of Chicago untill she passed away so I'm familiar with a lot of the shops.
  20. I stopped at a hobby shop in Chicago today and picked up the AMT '55 Chevy Nomad in 1/16th scale and the two rods I picked up at the DuPage swap meet a week and a half ago.
