  1. Your model came out lookin' great and while I already have the Tweedy Pie 2 kit I won't be buying the latest re-release as the idea of buying even MORE kits for the "stash" pile is getting old as I'll NEVER build them all or even half of them.
  2. I was vacationing at Ft. Myers Beach last year and loved it. Of course I did stop at Awesome Hobby's also. If I was there more often I would be interested in a model car club for sure.
  3. Sooooooooooo, why doesn't someone INVITE this Marine to the DAAM club?
  4. Maybe some parts fell on the floor?
  5. The "heyday" of plastic model building WAS in the 50's & 60's as men came home from the war and wanted to build ships, tanks, and planes, the "Space Age" was starting up and kids built rockets, and cars were catching on and the model car industry "exploded." I've enjoyed model building since the mid-50's and even had a 7 or 8 year hiatus in the 90's. I still enjoy it and really DON'T care what happens to the hobby when I'm below the earth's surface. There are WAY to many other things for younger people to be doing than building models like we were when I was a kid.
  6. You're supposed to send one instruction sheet back to Monogram, and quickly.
  7. Model Empire has a large selection or the entire line of Model Car Garage photo-etched parts and I believe that Harry is right as I don't remember seeing a set for the '66 Fairlane GT/GTA at all.
  8. Badger is pretty good about things like that and we've had them at a couple of our club meetings and they put on excellent demos for us as well as having some brushes set up for us to "play" with.
  9. Great photos Dave of excelllent builds. Thanks for sharing.
  10. I DID already and plannin' on cutting the lawn again for the third time maybe today.
  11. They would also work on early Indy cars too.
  12. There should be a set of wire wheels in AMT's re-issued '62 T-Bird also.
  13. I thought that Competition Resins did a Plymouth body?
  14. Harry, did you put away your snow-thrower yet? I just ran the gas out of mine and put it away. I hope that it is a safe bet that I won't need it until next Dec. sometime. LOL!
  15. For those of you in the Ocala area who haven't seen the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing, it really is a great place and I'd like to see it again some day when I'm in Florida.
  16. Nice job on that old build and it looks great. It's also cool that you've kept it all these years too.
  17. The AMT '58 T-Bird? I guess I'm not the only old guy around here after all.
  18. You should be AMAZED at $87.80 a gallon, and I thought that gas was high?
  19. After a coat of primer and a base coat of gold or silver, spray a light coat of your candy colored paint. Note I usually allow about 20 minutes drying time between coats and I'm using Testor's lacquer paint from a "rattlecan." After 20 minutes spray another light coat of color. With candy colored paints you cannot spray too many color coats or your finish will darken to the point that your base coat won't shine through and therefore you'll lose the "candy effect" and your paint job will end up being more of a solid color. So be careful about the number of candy color coats that you use. I like to use lacquer rather than enamels as they are thinner and dry faster leaving less time for foreign objects to invade your paint. They also smell better . LOL! I hope this helps.
  20. Looks like a great project you've going there with the '40 Ford which is a favorite of many builders. I like that you're molding your own wheels & tires and the NASCAR engine is a good idea also and I'm going to have to look into that for myself as I just won a NASCAR kit in a raffle the other day.
  21. And here I thought that the color of money was green?
  22. Waiting? I have SO many kits to build that I don't need to wait for ANY kit ever.
  23. Andy, you missed a great show and it was right in your "backyard." I hope to see you there next year as it is a show not to be missed.
  24. Mike, there seemed to be plenty of atendees at the show and there were 678 models on the tables. We had a great raffle as well as rock n' roll music and Revell had set up a small display there also. It was a GREAT time and I can't wait for next years show.
  25. Steve, the AMT '40 Willys Coupe/Pickup kit had an Olds engine in it with "ribbed" valve covers.
