Who has the best redlines in the market?
mike 51 replied to meaneyme's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
you could call or e-mail them...they include red line tires in their 69 Roadrunner kits, ask which size tires they use on it. . You may want to wait for a few weeks as they catch up on orders. -
Hendrix Mfg. -- Recommendations..?
mike 51 replied to Ramfins59's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You *do* realize that is a picture of a REAL 58 Ford.......... these kits have no plated parts and may require more "clean-up" than you seem to be comfortable with. I think you might do better with one from Modelhaus...... *if* you really want a 58 Ford convertible or hardtop (he does both). -
" instead we get decidedly un"muscle"d cars (61 Ventura)..." LOL I guess you aren't too familar with Pontiacs. "to dump my question into doesn't really have much to do with the old release." nonsense...the two Chevelle kits are virtually identical.

Custom Mike... I see a 64 C-10 everyday,so i'm probably more "sensitive" to how Revell's looks. I wish I wasn't...I really like those trucks. Good luck with yours!

Go to the Modeling How- Tos section here....lots of info to help you out.

You seem to have an unusual amount of bad luck with getting so many "worn out" model kits....must be kinda frustrating.

(NEW Update! 6/19/15) IN progress, ICM '13 Model T For
mike 51 replied to Art Anderson's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Among other features.....I really like the horn bulb. Nice work Art. What ever happened to your Opel? -
"Far as '70s iron goes, I lived through them as a young man and found most of the US cars built then to be as boring as machines could possibly be. I remember thinking all the plastic wood, stick-on curlicues and fake landau irons, etc, would have been appropriate in a low-rent bathroom...not on a car." Exactly.....not to mention how poorly most of 'em ran.

The casting is pretty thick Tommy, but that's what a Dremel is for. I've already tried the glass from the '62 Belair, the windshield from the '62 Catalina & the Lindberg '61 Impala & the glass from the AMT '61 Invicta. No luck! I could probably make one of them work but I'm not sure how the final appearance would be. I think it would bennefit from vaccu-formed glass mostly because of the flexibility of the material versus rigid kit glass. I have a line on a set from a fellow modeler who has offered to make a set for me. Steve Steve, I think Modelhaus did this body too (as a complete kit) perhaps his "glass" would work for you too....but you may have to wait awhile..

Toyoda's (Toyota) first ever passenger vehicle coming from Tamiya
mike 51 replied to DanR's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
If you Google it, you'll find a brief "road" test that Jay Leno did on this car (the car is nearly brand new, built by Toyota from blueprints in 1989). The video will show you the size it is (full size for the mid-30's standards). more>>> 112 in wheelbase 186 inches long 68 inches high 3300 lbs. roughly the same size as a 36 Ford. -

I think so too. (but this announcement was posted here about 3 weeks ago though) -
Very nice!

It might pose a problem for Moebius...I'll bet Revell lost a lot of money when they had to supply the "promised" whitewalls for the 50 Olds.

Thanks Steven...a friend got one today too...he did a light scuff with 600 and primed it...looks just fine. However he was rather disappointed that there were no hubcaps as shown on the box. Otherwise he was pleased. I'm waiting for the sedan version myself.

Do those tires fit the rims without modification? I've got the wheels but not the tires to check for myself..TIA
