I finished a couple of models in August and will be posting them both today. First up is this Willys gasser. This is made from the Revell Stone, Woods & Cook kit. I've had these decals from Scale Modeling by Chris for many years and just got around to building this. Some details below: Engine – Aluminum pulleys (from Offthesprue.com), various aluminum bolt heads including all valve cover bolts (RB Motion). Blower belt tensioner scratch built, upper radiator hose made from solder, Remote oil filter lines to block. Wired Magneto (Morgan Automotive Detail) Body – Hood tabs removed & fender slots filled in. Front grille filled in and decal created. Rear fendors shaved in front. Parachute cord and release cable. Yellow acetate side and back windows. Chassis – Brake lines added. Aluminum nut/bolt detail on rear leaf springs. Aluminum valve stems on rear wheels. Parts box front tires/wheels. Interior – Aluminum bare metal foil and semi-gloss black. Modified seats from parts box. Scratch built roll bar. Steering column mounted tach and column braces added.

Awesome build Craig! The black looks so good and it is such a clean build. I am currently working on this kit in Viking blue with white interior. I will post when finished. And most importantly, sorry for your loss. -
It was great seeing this car at the show yesterday, congrats Roger! This car looks even better in person, just an awesome build. Had a great time talking with you at the show.

I would have a very hard time giving away one of my models too, but in a case like this, I think I would have done the same thing. The joy you brought to them is super cool and will bring you joy also. Besides, you have a test run behind you now to do it again. -
All three of these are awesome! Love the super stocks from the 60's!

This is coming along great! Love the old weathered gassers. The steering wheel is super cool and so period correct. This will be awesome when done.

Great job with the body mods. This is an awesome Willys gasser build.

Man, like everyone else said, that is a super clean build! Awesome job with the paints. -
Looks very cool mocked up already!

Thanks for the comments everyone! As I said, the kit has some issues, but can build up into a pretty cool replica of Grumpy's Vega.

Well since it was another cold weekend in Northern Indiana, I spent a lot of time on it and got it completed. This build was a pain along the way in many aspects but came out pretty nice.

Very cool, the paint is awesome!

Looks great! The stance is awesome. That 62 Impala hardtop is a nice kit. I will be doing one shortly.

Super clean build, looks great! 60's super stocks are some of my favorites.

Thanks Bob, appreciate it! Just trying to get it a little close.

Thanks Nicholas. Yeah, I could not find much for chassis pics. Since it is a weak point of the kit, I am not doing much with it. The molded in rearend/suspension is pretty bad.

I just got around to building this. I have seen many other builds and heard a lot of the complaints about the kit, but wanted to do it anyway because Grumpy was always a favorite of mine and I had this kit as a kid. I was going to do a lot of detail on this, but once I got started I quickly changed my mind. I couldn't get past the big block in the kit, so swapped in a small block from the 66 Nova pro street kit and headers from a 69 Nova kit. Because of the engine swap, I cut out the driveshaft and built a new one. The kit carbs also bothered me, so I used a pair from Pro Tech. I did create a smooth firewall and cut out the inner fenders (just going to do some flat panels). I saw in some pictures that there were cross bars on the back of the roll cage, so I added those. Here are a few pics of what's going on with it. I should have the body finished in a few days. I painted the red a couple days ago and it came out nice.

Thanks Chris. I'm ordering some paint today and will get that metallic orange also.

This looks great! May I ask what paint you used on the body? I've got this kit and have been trying to decide what color to use. Thanks.

Fantastic build Bruno! One of the nicest I have seen of this kit. I have several of these and have never built one, you have inspired me to revisit building an altered. -
Very cool Norbert! I still love the look of the Pro Stock Trucks. Great build!

Nice build Bill and I couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes it's nice to put something together that just looks great on the shelf and doesn't require a ton of research, scratchbuilding and $. I have recently done a couple of box stock builds that I finished in a short time and enjoyed immensely. Of course, I still have several detailed projects I'm working on, but simple is a great change of pace.

Great job! First pic looks like a shot from the movie! The attention to detail is outstanding.

John, I've followed many of your builds on here and each time I think it can't get any better, but it always does! Having seen this car in person a couple of times at Goodguys shows, I really love this build. I would not of thought that anyone would ever be able to capture this in scale, but it is amazing! I think you show a lot of us that you can think outside the box and challenge yourself with great results. Thanks for sharing your builds with us and I look forward to the next!

Way cool! Love the stance and tire/wheel combo, great job!
