  1. Made some progress this weekend and worked mostly on the chassis. I have a roller now! Ran fuel and brake lines. Added some nut and bolt details to front and rear shocks and leaf springs. Also added straps to the gas tank and made decals for the shocks and fuel pump. Front suspension isn't quite finished, but getting there. Just noticed in this picture that the brake line came out of the junction block, will have to take care of that. Actually had to take the axle off today and shorten it by about 1/8". That's always fun when you already have things glued in place! Has the stance that is close to the actual car. Front fenders are done, rears just need a little more cleaning up and I can get the body in primer.
  2. That paint job came out awesome Bob! Gonna be pretty sweet when its done.
  3. Unfortunately not much bench time again this week and will not get much this weekend. Heading to the Glory Days Nostalgia Drags at Byron Dragway tomorrow. Always like to take a lot of pictures at these events for reference. I did make some progress on the fenders. They are getting close. Hopefully one more coat of putty and some finish sanding and they should be good to go. Other than that just got a few small things done this week. Decided to use aluminum pulleys and got those sorted out, painted the fuel pressure regulator, added some detail nut/bolts to the leaf springs and did some figuring out of a few items that were up in the air. Hope to get more time next week, finish the fenders and get back to finishing the dashboard. With a little primer (second pic) you can see where the front needs more work on the leading edge. The back just needs filling and final sanding.
  4. Man, I love your updates Daniel, always a treat to see the detail and your scratchbuilding ability. That front end is awesome!
  5. Thanks Carl, really appreciate it! Thanks Tony, started sanding the fenders this evening. The front is shaping up pretty nice, just takes a while.
  6. Well, got some bench time in last night after spending much of the day on the fun tasks of power-washing the house and cutting grass. I hadn't done much with the body yet, so I was looking at it and realized that only one of the front fenders had the subtle flair and neither of the back fenders did. Wasn't looking for another project, but can't leave as is so started the process of adding the flares. I've only done this once before. I used .060" half round and Mr. Cements. I clamp a piece and add a bit of the Mr. Cements and let it dry for a few minutes then bend another 1/4" inch or so using clamps along the way and allowing time to dry between each time. Now, I'll go back, add putty and sand down to the subtle factory flares. This will take a while and I will post pics. when finished. Also, finished widening and lengthing the dashboard to fit the body. The car also has the radio and the glove box deleted, so removed those. Added styrene strips and lots of putty, but I am pretty pleased with the result. I used a couple of products this week for the first time and am really impressed with both, so thought I would share. First is GSW liquid mask. I've had it for a while but have not used it until now. I didn't want have to brush paint any of the chassis, so used the liquid mask where I couldn't effectively use tape. The gold was sprayed over the black chassis. It peels up easily and did a great job. I also used it on the transmission. I sprayed the trans Alclad stainless steel, then used the liquid mask on the pan and re-sprayed the trans with a 3:1 mix of Alclad stainless steel and steel. Once again the liquid mask worked great. The second product I used for the first time is Revell Chrom Spray. I said I would never spend that kind of money on a can of paint, but got a "deal" for less than $30. I have always used Alclad and seem to get mixed results (probably user error). I talked to someone at a show a while back and he said the ease of use and little that is needed makes it actually more economical than most other chrome paints. So I sprayed the valve covers this morning and just a few quick sprays on each and I was quite impressed with the results. This can should last quite a while, so maybe the crazy price isn't so bad after all.
  7. Looks awesome! The R&B details really look great. I placed another order with him the other day.
  8. Thanks guys, I was thinking of scratchbuilding it, but I found this today. Mr. Model makes a really nice aluminum one. Have ordered several things from him in the past and really liked them. You just can't be in a hurry because it takes a few weeks since these come from Brazil.
  9. Thanks James, appreciate it.
  10. Haven't had a lot of bench time lately, but have been working on the interior while I am priming and painting some chassis parts. One thing I noticed when I was working on the roll bar is that there were big gaps where the the interior tub is cut out for the fender wells. I added some strip styrene and and molded them in for a much better fit. Then I was able to paint the seats, put some flocking down and one of my least favorite things to do........seatbelts! (I just hate working with the small photoetch hardware) But it's looking alright. I am having to add to the width of the dashboard because the Ramchargers one is too narrow. Once the dashboard is finished, I can pretty much check the interior off the list. I'm looking for a 60's style tach like the one pictured here from the real car. Anyone know where I could get an old style tach or what kits might have something similar?
  11. Absolutely fantastic Francis! That rear end assembly is amazing! Love seeing you continually take it to the next level.
  12. Thanks Tim, I'm making progress on a few things and should have some update pics in a couple days.
  13. Thanks Daniel, very much appreciated!
  14. Thanks Tim. He is selling on eBay - paintinjoe
  15. LOL, Thanks Kenneth, appreciate it!
  16. Thanks Roger, got some more done yesterday and will be posting more this week.
  17. Have made some progress on the interior. Here is the actual car's interior that I am basing it on. The original interior tub needed a lot of cleanup and would have been too hard to do as one piece, so i decided to cut the door panels off. Also removed the molded-in shifter mount as the car is a column shift. Made the roll cage and scribed lines in the seats and door panels. The seats already had a couple lines at the top, so I just added some to make it similar. Just made these braces for the seats. I know you probably won't be able to see them in the finished model, but I was really happy with the way they came out.
  18. Wow, absolutely incredible build! Fit, finish and details are all superb!
  19. Super cool! Really nice clean build!
  20. Hey Roger, here's a quick look at how I make the shocks. These are the tubes/wire I use. Have had these for years. For this build, I cut the larger tube to .35" and the smaller tube to .40". The rod I just cut a piece as it will be trimmed after installation. The round part at the top is from my wife's jewelery making supplies (I get a lot of stuff from her craft area, LOL). It's called a round crimp bead, she gets them at Hobby Lobby. I glue the smaller tube in place then glue the crimp bead on top. Insert the rod with a little dab of glue and add the little piece of wire insulation. That's it, pretty simple but they look good on the models.
  21. Another super cool build Scott!
  22. Hi Roger, thanks! If I get time in the next day or so, I'll make another shock, take some pics and post it.
  23. Thanks Alan, appreciate it!
  24. Not surprised you went back and re-did it Roger. Looks great! Sometimes you just have to make it work, even if it's not 100% accurate. It will make the finished model look even that much better. I'm with you on wanting to get painting. My current project is a ways from painting and I'm impatient. Glad to hear you put the house back up, even though moving is a pain!
