  1. Next on the bench for prep and a black paint job.
  2. The Holden LJ Torana Burnout car is fresh from the spray booth. Started with a SMS paints Jet Black base coat. Then applied the colour coat First 3 pics are under desk top lighting and over exposed a bit. And the following pics are overhead LED batten.
  3. Cheers Bob, I like how they stance the modern cars where the tyre and rim are flush with the fender lip. Aka hella flush. Takes a lot fidgeting to get the fitment correct. I only have it close enough for now. Final assembly I will try get it spot on.
  4. Body prep finished and applied first coat of 1500 black surfacer. Also got the wheels mounted and stance roughed in. Opened the kit grill area, and will install some photo etch mesh.
  5. Thanks Anton, lots of wips happening at the moment. Once I get through painting a bunch of bodies, I plan settle down and chip away at finishing a few one by one.
  6. ha ha, yeah Nigel just styrene and CA glue for filler. I will be sure to take a photo for you when I take it back to bare plastic when I do further body work.
  7. Dug some wheels out of the stash for the 2017 Camaro, I 3D printed awhile back. Now I just need to get them mounted. Then I can get them painted.
  8. Thanks Stuart, always interesting to hear what old Holdens people owned. We are so lucky to be able build kits of Aussie car's. Hope to see your HQ build soon. Thanks Bob. The pure red kinda reminded me of old Ruby and the bright red paint.
  9. Centreline wheel mock up on the Holden HQ for @STU111
  10. I would try sanding back the primer to expose the putty, then apply a thin coat of CA glue over the puttied area where you need to scribe. The CA will be harder too sand, but it should prevent chipping of the putty.
  11. And next on the bench for body prep. I did have one these Camaro's already painted black back in 2023. But I gave it away to help out a guy who messed up the black paint on his, havent seen him build it yet either. Kinda wish I kept it now 🤣
  12. Paint applied to the Holden HQ.
  13. Shark nose roughed in and wheels painted. The joys of being able to 3D print.
  14. Like always idea's get the better of me so.... Dug this kit out of the stash. And ive had the plan of building a 210 like this inspiration picture I found. After a couple hours of work, this is where im at. Have the body worked roughed in and need to finishing shaping, then il do the shark nose like the inspiration. I wont be using the wheels in the mock up, I 3D printed some other wheels that are similar to the ones on the inspiration pic.
  15. 3D printed some burnout rims to suit the DDA kit tyres for the LJ Torana. Wheel file is from SlowysModels
  16. Thanks Brock, we are so lucky to have SMS hobby paints available to buy to apply on our models. Should start looking the part with side window frames blacked out and some BMF. Old mate SlowysModels ITB's on a custom one of manifold that was designed to suit the DDA 308 engine block. Thanks Bob, eye melting colour for sure, very happy how it sprayed and coverage was excellent. Admittedly I was having some issues with my photo taking recently, but tried a different setting on the phone camera and big improvement. And I always try to take photo's of my model cars at angles like you would see the 1:1's in magazines. Cheers Bob, I cant wait to see how it looks with the red colour applied.
  17. Stole the engine out of a DDA diecast Holden LJ Torana to see how it looks.
  18. Applied final coat of surfacer to the Holden HQ. And applied SMS paints Hyperchrome Dark Tone to the bumpers and headlight surrounds
  19. Applied the colour coat to the Holden LX A9X.
  20. Ha ha, my user name on LayitLow was Damaged. Too much enjoyment for the hobby to walk away from it. Always stick to my trademark colour 😉 When I seen your name pop up, I knew it was Lowridingmike from the LayitLow days. Keep doing your thing il be watching.
  21. Good to see you back in the game, look forward to seeing what you come up with.
  22. Apologies for missing this. Well done, sure does look the part.
