  1. If you want to practice with BMF,Get some cheap foil from a 99 cents store(the cheaper the better) making sure it's real thin and some foil adhesive. This will give you an idea as to how little pressure it takes to cut the stuff. Real BMF is kinda expensive to practice with.
  2. I bought a 1/32nd F-104 Starfighter kit just to try and do this car. If you Google F-104 Starfighter LSR you will get all kinds of reference.Check Images there. Here's one I looked at. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.ratrodz.com/bloodhound1000_bonneville/nae_f104.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.ratrodz.co
  3. Get some pipettes and decant from your primary mix container. rinse the pipettes acetone or MEK so you can reuse them. Eyedroppers also work, and you can spray the tube and bulb with release to make cleaning easier.
  4. Thats a neat build and a neat car in 1:1. I thought the torsion bar suspension was "different" to say the least! Nice build.
  5. I hesitate to offer an opinion on this as I have seen you go thru this before. You said you were going to take a step back and not to try and build out of your comfort zone,or something to that effect. It seems you jumped right back to your old ways. I.E. using whatever was on hand, not really doing any reference, research etc. Why are you using products not specifically aimed at the modeler? What tape did you use? Why do you use paints not really aimed at model use? Did you check this board or the internet to find WIP about painting (in general and two-tones)? If your the impatient type your certainly going to be frustrated using enamels,(at least without a dehydrator ). Marc and others certainly have passed on some good advice. I'd suggest getting some Tamiya spray paint and try a good ONE COLOR paint job with it. I'd also suggest getting a good book or two on how to build models, there are plenty out there and although you can get much advice from this and other boards,to ask for it and show no or little improvement shows a lack of respect. I do hope you take this in the manner it is intended.
  6. Here is the link where I bought mine online. http://www.waresdirect.com/search.asp?advanced=1&searchText=dawn+power+dissolver&mfgID=&catID=19&x=11&y=4
  7. It seems to work fine on all paints so far,but to be honest,my goto stripper is Super clean.I found a place online that sells a commercial version of DPD,but it's only economically feasible by the case. It does work great on black paint that I typically find on chassis.
  8. Adventurous looking project. Why not use some narrower wheels & tires up front? Only other suggestion would be narrow the frame in the front,or clip it and use something else that's narrower.
  9. I only met him once since I moved here. Very nice person. I do hope he pulls thru.
  10. Awesome build and presentation!! The second photo puts a new slant on "disc" wheels
  11. I think and my experience confirms that enamels (solvent based) have a shorter shelf life than lacquers.I bought some automotive lacquers from ebay several years ago and they were from before the implement of zipcodes on addresses!! These were thinned with a modern lacquer thinner and I airbrushed several models and they turned out fine.

  13. Use the sprue from the kit.
  14. Why would the quarter panels have to be flipped?
  15. Very nice! Would you be willing to part with a couple of those vac form windshields?
  16. I'm not sure how well this would work, but maybe these special shapes would help. http://www.plastruct.com/picat/STRCTURAL_SHAPES_FTGS_9.pdf http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/Sheets.htm#V-Groove%20Siding
  17. The brickbats are that it is JUST purty darn close. As for me, it looks DARN close!! I gave one to a neighbor who owns one and I mentioned that many people complained about it's accuracy,he couldn't believe it. I think PL would've received better reviews had it been a straight on unbuilt kit. Just sayin' everyone's entitled to their opinion.
  18. Hey guys 'dat's a nice collection and uh say like uh when are you going on vacation and Uh like where do you hide the spare house key. Uh you know 'jus sayin'.
  19. Yes! Very nicely done.
  20. Thanks Mike, I wasn't aware of all those different rear panels.
  21. There are plenty of woodgrain type decals that could possibly be used for this.Check ebay and Strada Sports.
  22. No,the Blueprinter set was the 4- engines (no chrome) and the grilles.
  23. Get a couple different sized make-up brushes to go along with the compressed air. Brush carefully!
  24. I like the idea of the tote box booth, but setting on a tabletop that puts it at a convenient height, then fastening a piece of 1/4 inch hardboard/pegboard on top and using it as a sanding table to catch the dust from sanding plastic, plastic fillers, resin etc.
  25. I don't have the room for a large display area.I keep them in a dark,moist place...right next to the mushrooms :D
