1. Nothing better than a nap with one's companion(s) , especially when said companion's / companions' purr motor is running .
2. ** ADDENDUM ** The most-recent AMT Econoline is the surfer's van edition . This one appears to be the nicest , as it includes the newly-tooled surfboards from the 1965 Malibu Wagon , and some really nice decals .
3. I'm partial to the AMT and MPC Ford Econoline vans for simplicity and end product . The AMT Econoline has been reissued in two or three iterations in the last 10 years ( the Coca ~ Cola edition is the most recent ) . The long-running AMT G-van ( Chevrolet ) is a fun kit and it looks great upon completion . It has its inaccuracies ( 5 lug wheels on a one ton chassis ) and some iffy parts to it , but those are easily worked around . Then there's the MPC B-van ( Dodge ) . IIRC , it was last issued in Bad Company livery , which is a c.1982 'annual' , back in c.2016 . It features the typical undersized 'generic' Chrysler small V8 / manual trans ( though that combo is more accurate in a B-van than a 1975-1976 Dart ) and some other not-obvious-to-me inaccuracies . Truly , you can't go wrong with any of the kits I've listed .
4. In spite of the issues I've encountered with the "phoned-in" design of the front wheels' mounting design and execution , this kit has otherwise been a lot of fun to paint and assemble . I'll just marque the problem I've encountered as , Nothing's perfect . The pending ( any test shots ? ) full-detail version will be a welcomed addition .
5. I did test-fit the 'blocks' to their seat on the chassis , which included a test-fit of the pins , too . In retrospect , I should have affixed the block-and-pin mounts before I painted and detailed the chassis plate .
6. I'm no fan of the axle-through-block setup , either . However , given that this kit is promo-style ( Craftsman Jr. ) , a 'wire' axle would've been a nice option for the front wheels in addition to the 'block-and-pin' arrangement .
7. It's just easier to blame someone else ( haha ) . It wasn't the pin , but rather the 'block' for the wheel-mounting pin . I finally found the son-of-a-motherless-goat last night , and swiftly dropped it into the kit's box . I call the assembly 'fiddly' because of arthritis ; can't grasp those tiny pieces like I used to .
8. Close to completing the 1963 Nova Wagon , and I lost one of those fiddly front wheel mounts to the rabbit hole . I'm trying my Celtic best to not yell like a maniac ; I'd like to believe that I'm more mature than resulting to insane verbal rants these days... I must ask : Why in the devil did AMT-come-Round2 just phone-it-in on those fiddly front wheel mounts ?!?!? What a garbage design ! I wish that Round2 would've gone all-the-way and just "wire axle" [ et al. ] the front as well . Fiddly poodle poop like this harkens back to the days of Revell's 2,000 piece door hinges ! I test-fitted the stupid thing before I committed to glue , then for whatever my-luck-reason , the remaining one refused to seat in its place ! Now my arthritic fingers have to scratch a freakin' front axle "spindle" for that stupid wheel pin , and hope to J that I don't lose that piece of Faberge garbage during the process . Anyone else have this problem ?
9. It's all good . My original proposition was my (shared) uncertainty about a closed-top ( up-top , etc. ) for the convertible . Perhaps Missing Link will offer one ?
10. SWEET ! Ostensibly it's slated to be a curbside , no ?
11. Perhaps this subject has already been broached ; however , I feel that it's worth mentioning again : Is there an impetus for one ( or more ) of the resin casters / masters to create an 'up-top' for this kit ? Maybe the pending hardtop 4-4-2 hardtop doesn't present an 'urgency' to create an up-top ?
12. That's the best resolve ; that's a great idea : instill some of Tamiya's Clear Blue into their gunmetal . The more that I thought about my original suggestion , the more I realised that Tamiya's aerosol Gunmetal is closer to Silver Frost ( JA5 ) or even the 1974-1976 LA2 silver .
13. I seed this one-thirty-tooth-scale 1969 Nova ( Atlantis ) on ModelRoundUp's page (see link) and am wondering , Is this one of the old Revell kits from c.1969 ? Monogram ? I'm gleefully interested in it if it's a good kit . 1969 Chevy Nova SS (1/32) (fs)
June, 2021 (modelroundup.com)
14. Won't be hopping curbs with that wrong-wheel-drive "thing" .
15. We're their target audience with their restored offerings and their Retro Deluxe offerings . I , too , am beyond pleased that some of these 'never-to-be-seen-ever-again' kits are finding a revitilised life ! Keep 'em coming , Round2 !
16. Tamiya Light Gunmetal is quite close . Oddly ( or not ) that was the nomenclature that Dodge used for GA4 Winchester Grey .
17. That first engine appears to be a 1970 with 49 state emissions ( no C.A.P. breather , but does have a vapour separator adjacent to the fuel pump ) . But , yes , that 4-paddle fan is a no-go for 1968-1971 --- even the LO23 / BO29 models got the 7-paddle fan with a clutch ( de-clutch ) .
18. Has anyone given consideration to building either the convertible or the hardtop with an Econ-O-Way 225 V6 ? I'm considering doing that with the drop-top ( the hardtop will retain its 330 Rocket / 4-speed ) , but am wondering if there's a resin 225 V6 available ? Would it be 'close-enough' to chop the Buick Electra 225's Nailhead of two of its cylinders ? Maybe the old MPC Jeepster ( Mount N' Goat , recently , IIRC... ) has a convincing oddfire 225 ?
19. I think that it was the GW3 Sno-White model which was found in-storage .
20. Those moulds , the AMT Good Year Rallye GT ( still in some kits !!! ) , and the Monogram c.1973 tyres of the same nomenclature --- those should be scapped permanently !
21. Outstanding work as usual , @StevenGuthmiller! Now , at the risk of being "That guy..." , I must inquire about the fan : That's the base fan for auto / open rear , and would be incorrect for a Dana-equipped model ( if you're using an 8 3/4 rear , you can disregard this info ) . 68_Coronet0011.jpg (840×1200) (hamtramck-historical.com) NOS 1968 1969 CHARGER GTX ROAD RUNNER 426 HEMI 69 340 440+6 A-12 Fan 2863215 | eBay
22. Especially the two French folks who plopped-down some serious coin for their GW3 and GA4 models respectfully . Now , imagine it's 1974 or 1979 , and you're trying to convince anyone that their gas-guzzling dinosaur --for which high-octane pump-gas was disappearing-- would be worth more than they paid for their house (and then some) .
23. You are indeed correct ; I stand corrected. Begs the question : Is the stock hardtop's die already cut ? ( asking in-general , not you specifically ) .
24. At least those are test shots ( first one a 3-D print ) , so corrections can be made before the dies are cut .
