Biggest pet peeves on builds.
1972coronet replied to LL3 Model Worx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My peeve is... me ! Seriously , though --- I'm envious of those amongst us whose hands are steady , whose ability is to see finite details , and are able to scratch-build a tyre valve stem ! When my hands were steady , I lacked the skills . When my vision wasn't 50 years old , I was able to paint instruments and gauges using a toothpick , and achieve satisfactory results . All I can say is , Thank God for interior decals ! At my age , I'm still learning new techniques . Lots of outstanding craftsman on this board . -
Since I use mine so infrequently ---- last time I used them was in December 2019 . I treat them as though I'm using them for the first time , every time : shake-vigorously ; "pump" the tip gently-against scrap paper (or some such) ; then start by running the pen against scrap plastic . I've had the ink come-out silver for a few small strokes , then the chrome-particles "activate" . Hopefully that will work for you as well .

slant 6 diesel?
1972coronet replied to heyjohnxx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Slant Six was proposed as a platform for a diesel engine to based-upon . Likely , the proposal was just that ; no known prototypes exist . It was likely dropped due to cost ---- but how cool would it have been to have the R&D followed through ? That engine's availability in Chrysler's A , B , F , M , or J platforms may've brought Chrysler out of bankruptcy in the 70's . -
I've had the smaller-tip model for over a year (maybe closer to 2 years) ; I also have a bigger-tip model that I bought on 23/08/ 2019 . I store them cap-down , in an upright position --- no problems whatsoever .

Orange factory color on a 67 Camaro ?
1972coronet replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
FC7 wouldn't have been available until 1970 model year ( the "F" = "1970" ) , then was dropped after 1971 . But , that doesn't mean that it couldn't be had after 1971 ---- I've seen two examples of 1971 model year cars painted FM3 , which was a 1970-only colour . That Plum Crazy / In-Violet looks at home on that '76 Eldo ! -
Orange factory color on a 67 Camaro ?

Here's a 1968 Dana Camaro painted an unnamed-on-the-site orange colour : https://www.69pace.com/paint1968specialpaint.htm -
Orange factory color on a 67 Camaro ?
1972coronet replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks similar to Omaha Orange (colloq. , 'Trash Truck Orange' or 'Highway Department Orange") , if not an exact match . Nice looking '67 , Joe ! -
Permit for me to preface the following by stating that I'm not knocking Round2 ( et alia ) by making this statement : I just hope that if they modify an existing kit's tooling / restore tooling , that it doesn't become the disappointment that was the cancelled-at-the-last-minute 1971 Demon 340 . For an instance ; let's say that the tooling for the c.1962 Nova Wagon is restored to stock . That's no small feat , even if the rest of the tooling exists ---- that body was heavily-modified ! Now , hope-against-hope that the Nova wagon is restorable ; I propose that its original engine ( 4 or 6 cylinder ? ) be supplanted with the engine from the 1970 1/2 Z~28 , or perhaps the L~79 from the 1966 hardtop . Now , how about a backdated Chevelle Wagon ? I'm certainly not alone in having a strong desire to see that 1964 version make its return , 6 cylinder and all .

Perhaps a set of 6-lug steel wheels from Scenes Unlimited would work as well . -
AMT '70 Challenger question
1972coronet replied to Roadrunner's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Rallye Instrument Cluster was optional , regardless of model or trim level ; this applies to the Plymouth Barracuda / Gran Coupe / 'Cuda as well . I've seen non-performance ( 318 , 383 two barrel ) models with the Rallye Cluster , and Hemi models with the standard instruments . -
As many times as I've viewed and reviewed your buildup / resto of this 1968 4-4-2 ; as long as I've been admiring your progress over the months ( 26/09/2019 commencement ! ) , I cannot believe that I haven't given accolades until today ! Not only is that Olds 400 cube engine a work of art in its self , but that interior is beyond adjectives ! I can practically smell that interior ( Oldsmobile of this era have a distinctive , wonderous odour to them ) ! Of course , the body and its finish and its colours are simply amazing ! Keep 'em coming , Herr Güthmiller !

1969 Beaumont front bumper/grille
1972coronet replied to Maindrian Pace's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
My friend lives in Long Beach ; you can see the International Towers from the balcony of my friend's condo . First time I went to his place and I saw the tower , I asked him , "Did they ever find out who stole that Mustang from [ the towers ] ?" . ? -

I love it ! Looks great with the plain wheels , which are a sweet contrast to that splendid body colour ! Keep up the great work !

Holy Toledo ! That Mark IV is a work of art in its self ! Even has the leads on the freakin' ignition coil ! Is it a 427 or an L-78 ?

Ever watched the original ( and only ) Gone In 60 Seconds (1974) ? The name of the car thieves' ring was Pace Research --- that's the esoteric joke . -

@Maindrian Pace , What's the name you've given to this Beaumont project ? Perhaps 'Lanore' would be fitting ? You've already "acquired" a 1969 Chevelle to work with --- was it taken from the Los Angeles International Airport's parking lot ? -
I bought an original example of the MPC 1976 Dart Sport annual back in 1989 at a hobby show . I was planning on using the Dart Board decals ; however , MPC's decals' quality was horrible (to put it nicely) , so those 13 year old decals disintegrated soon as they got wet . At least this time around , the decals are 1,000 times better ! [ By the way , Chris , I enjoyed watching your build of the MPC 1969 Camaro 'Yenko' . You truly made a silk purse out of that "thing" ! Kudos to you , sir ! ]

I wonder if your former boss was sitting with either Ron Asheton or his brother Scott . Scott "Rock Action" Asheton told me via email that he was a fan of my artwork --- a true compliment ! Wayne Kramer ( MC5 ) worked at the race track in the summer ; named his pre-MC5 band "The Bounty Hunters" after Connie Kalitta's dragsters of the same name . Mike Davis' father worked at Ford Motor Company ( I don't remember what his position was within Fo-Mo-Co ) . _________________________________ ____________________________________ _______________________________________ I apologise for hijacking your thread --- I just get excited whenever someone mentions one or more of my favourite bands ! Besides , they were all gear-heads , so I suppose that my jubilation is more of a side bar . Again , great work on restoring your contest winning beauties ! Those marvels are as old as yours truly !
