  1. On the Toyota . I'm calling the plate's colour in as blue / gold as its characters' sequence is numeric-alpha , which is 1970-1980 (6-character) ; 1963-1969 plates were alpha-numeric .
  2. Aside from those hideous wheels , that engine is such a phantom setup ! B / RB exhaust manifolds and an unrealistic air conditioning setup . Sure , those are easily corrected / replaced , but... On a positive note about this kit : Ramcharger hood , and "Bazooka" exhaust tips --- neither of which the stock 440 R/T kit has (though I am partial to the turndown exhaust of the stock R/T , as it replicates the Noise Reduction Package exhaust.)
  3. I have a c.1979 issue of the kit which I bought for two reasons : - OHC 6 engine - Spyders wheels I don't remember if the kit has two different bonnets or if it includes only the T/A hood .
  4. I'm sure that they were "trying" for "KLondyke-5" which is a long-running phantom number ; "JL-" doesn't spell anything , at least in English . Other fun numbers which don't exist ? : - "DIamond-19026" . That was Sphan's Movie Ranch's number ; it's long out-of-service and has not been reassigned . - "UNiversity-75309" . Also translates to , "8-6-7-5-3-0-9..." . Those old COX numbers aren't arbitrary ; they actually served a purpose .
  5. "Corny" , the Cornish Coroner
  6. A cursory examination of the site revealled the presence of instructions via a pdf download : https://www.revell.com/products/cars/muscle-1964-to-1974/70-dodge-challenger-2-n-1.html
  7. Lettuce knot forget this classic from his solo career :
  8. That Graveyard Ghoul Duo box art would be okay if it wasn't for that nosferatu-with-frightened-expression illustration !
  9. Looks like a nice piece for sure ! Only one nit to pick : the decals have an esoteric typo ; the phone number is a phantom ! There were no COX ( Central Office eXchange ) number which started with "CJ" ! Certainly , there was "CA" ( "CApitol" , for an instance ) , "CE" ( "CEntral" ,for an instance ) "CH" ( "CHapel" ,for instance ) "CI" ( "CItrus"...) , etc . , etc. If they were aiming for a COX number with "25" as its prefix , they could have , in theory , aimed for "AK" or some such. Easy 'fix' , and something that hardly anyone younger than 45 would understand , but... yeah , historical accuracy .
  10. Hollywood strikes again with their influence on stylling . I present to you , the 2020 Chevy Family Truckster !
  11. "Bad Dream" , indeed ! I think that the poor sap who built this thing is still in a rubber room somewhere !
  12. Since the B-Vans were unit-body (something that I wasn't aware of until the last couple of years !) , then the chassis / floorpan combo is correct .
  13. Thanks much . I'm (pleasantly) surprised to see that the 400 and 440 were available with a manual trans. ---- I even hopped-over to Hamtramck Historical for more info (though only the Ramcharger was the only truck or van info available for 1978...) . As a life-long resident of California , I suppose that I'm used to seeing California-only model vehicles ; catalytic converters , low-performance engines , no manual transmissions , etc. , etc .
  14. There are upgrade belts --- 3-point --- for older vehicles . I got rid of my Coronet's garbage two-piece restraint arrangement (the 1970-1971 set was MUCH better . Not sure as to why Chrysler abandoned that better setup for the stiff-as-mummy 1972-1973 "trap" ) and added a Mark XV [ out of business now ] setup . This upgrade was so easy ; it uses the original mounting points of the BDSM belts , so zero cutting / welding / modifying was required . And , these upgraded parts look so close to the OEM design , but function like newer (c.1980 & newer) belts . Seat belts used to be so uncomfortable and cumbersome , especially the ridiculous 1974-only Federal Mandate setup --- you couldn't start your vehicle until those bondage restraints were buckled ! That was across the board ; all of the 'Big 4' manufactures were mandated to design that lame system... ...only to have it cancelled for 1975... ...by the same idiots who pushed that mandate into place .
  15. It's been so long since I've seen this kit in person that I'd forgotten about those 1/20 scale wheels and tyres . Yes , lettuce hope that those goofy things don't find their way into this (pending) reissue ! Additionally , I'm hoping that the 2-wheel-drive parts stay intact .
  16. On the opposite end of the spectrum : lap-only belts ! One of my cousins became a paralysed after being in a wreck ; she was the back seat passenger in a Ford Escort (back in the days when the rear passengers were treated to lap-only restraints) when the car got rear-ended quite hard . She would not have become paralysed if she wasn't wearing that (stupid) lap belt ! If there's no shoulder restraint , then I don't bother . This would apply to 1967 & earlier U.S. passenger cars ( and c.1972 & earlier light duty trucks ) . I'd much rather die than be permanently paralysed --- but that's just me . Then we can get into virtual anomalies : let's take the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake (17.10.1989) for an instance . The Nimitz Freeway's Cypress Viaduct's upper-portion collapsed-onto the lower-portion ; many vehicles were tossed from the upper-deck and onto the streets below . No amount of seat belt wearing would avert those injuries .
  17. Not sure how much I've shrunk in 49 years , but one thing's for sure : my shoe size grew a lot over the years ! For years I wore a US Size 9 ; lately I've been buying US Size 11 . My left foot is longer and more narrow than my right foot , which is relatively short-and-wide ( left-side of my body is also longer ; my hair also grows faster and thicker on the left-side ! ). My mum told me decades ago that people shrink with age . That scared the deuce out of me when I was 8 years old ! Haha ! The reason that it became a topic was because I'd asked about my mum's cousin Mary ( whom was considerably older than my mum , and was ancient to me ! Haha ) , and why she was so short (shorter than me at that time) .
  18. Swimming in cold water in The Hamptons will do that .
  19. Let me preface by stating how ecstatic I am about the reissue of the Sweptside ! Now , on to what that MPC D-200 / LRE / et al. inhabits which has long bothered me : - Generic B/ RB engine - Manual trans coupled with the aforementioned ( maybe I'm wrong ; after 1972 no more 440 / manuals ; after 1974 no more 400 / manuals --- at least in passenger cars ) Certainly , the engine and trans from the 1971 Charger ( or the Revell Dart-series ) would be a simple swap ; a Slant Six / manual is a no brainer ; and , 318/360 with either trans would be easy to do as well . Now , what are the chances that Round2 will tool-up some hubcaps for those plain steelies from the c.1978 annual ?
  20. ...then there's the 3 different Valiant sedans in Duel : - 1970 with a 318 ( "V-EIGHT" emblems on front fenders ) - 1971 with a Slant Six - 1972 with a Slant Six All three had 1971 "W11" Deluxe Wheel Covers ; the 1970 has a 1971 grille . The 1972 model was necessary due to the 1970 and 1971 models being destroyed during the filming for the Movie Of The Week (Nov. 1971) . When Speilberg got the nod to shoot additional scenes for a theatrical release , the '71 model year was long-over ; a '72 was the only model available (especially in the unusual-for-a-sedan FE5 Red) . Then there's the two different tractors (which I know nothing about , as I'm not familiar with tractors --- someone please chime-in) . The first rig was obviously destroyed ; a second choice was picked for the additional scenes . Granted , by-and-large very few people would recognise the subtle differences between 1970-1971-1972 Valiants , so this isn't a nit-pick ; just an observation .
  21. SD-455 ! Must be a tribute (and a nice one at that) , as the Super Duty 455 didn't make the cut for production in the then-new Colonnade Grand Am / GTO / Gran Prix
  22. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I laughed so hard that my cat hissed at me !!!!!! The best L.A. River movie scene has got to be the one in Repo Man (which I cannot post in this forum due its [hilarious] language via a line from Harry Dean Stanton [R.I.P.] ). But , yeah ... that and incorrect-period Converse All*Stars are so sickly fifties !
