The only remake which comes to my mind that was at least on-par with the original is The Thing from c.1982 .

Beautiful '57 , Anders ! Looks like the kinds of 50's mild customs I'd see when I was young ; the cars that cruised Whittier Boulevard . Keep up the great work !

Aw , man ! Perhaps a carefully wet sanding with 12,000 grit paper will dress it down ? Repaint the whole fender ; should (hopefully) blend ...

AMT and MPC Please Put Out Significant Kits
1972coronet replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I wish that MPC would release that proposed 1987 Yugo GV that was announced for Sept. 1987 release . I wonder if Round2 has the tooling ? Then there's the 1986 Hyundai Excel that was announced in June 1986 as a Sept 1986 "New Tool" . Nothing there , either . Oh , and classic rock salad dressing ... panasonic hitler exhaust ... I'm eating grapes now . -
I will never knowingly support Amazon nor its C.E.O. ( what's his name--- Asmodeus ? Something like that... ) .

1/25 AMT '72 Pontiac Ventura II Sprint
1972coronet replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hart's Parts makes a resin conversion for the AMT '72 Nova SShttps://hartspartsresin.com/product/amt-72-pontiac-ventura-conversion/ (erroneously referred to as a 1969 in his description) . If Hart's 1968 Hemi Dart interior conversion ( correct "blank" door panels ; correct block-off-heater-and-radio plated dashboard ; and , correct Bostrom bucket seats : https://hartspartsresin.com/product/revell-68-dodge-dart-hemi-interior-conversion/ is any indication of the quality of his work , then you won't be disappointed by the Pontiac Ventura II pieces . -

Bonus track from the 1997 reissue of Notorious Byrd Brothers , later "covered" again when Chris Hillman joined Manassas ; vocals were performed on the latter : -
Would love to see these make a comeback . Not my favoured scale , but... What's the status of the JoHan Oldsmobile Cutlass (Colonnade body --- 1975 ?) ? Yes , I realise that these 1/32 scale Grand Prix , etc. , are Lindberg .

Right hand drive ?
1972coronet replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Perhaps an Australian organisation makes resin-cast dashboards ( Parts Box , perhaps ? ) From what I understand and from what I've seen , Oz doesn't mandate RHD conversions for classic / antique / collectable vehicles anymore. I have seen ambre turn signal / hazard lamp conversions and-or additions made to , say , c.1965 Valiants -
That guy is 15 years old ---- but still acts like a kitten ! He's half-British Shorthair , so he's stocky . Your Galaxie is coming along quite nicely ! Beautiful work , DEL !

I can't believe it.

I've got factory-sealed kit with "short-shots" on some of the trees ; most recent was the Monogram '55 F-100 . I shot an email to Revell-Monogram and told them about this (the grill was not on its tree at all -- not even a "short-shot" !) and I sent them a digi photo via my cell phone as *evidence* . I even offered to pay for the missing grille ; however , the photos were evidence enough , and R-M made good on the manufacturing error . I've even purchased kits off of eBay with full knowledge that some parts were damaged ( mainly , scuffed 'glass' ) . In one instance (1969 Dart GTS) , I emailed R-M and told them up front : " I'm not seeking free parts ; I want to purchase the clear parts' tree from your organisation . Again , not looking for a 'freebie' . " Apparently because I offered --and indeed asserted-- to pay for the parts , R-M sent the clear parts tree from the 1968 Dart GTS / Hemi at no charge ! Same for the 1969 Nova --- I bought the (phantom) COPO 427 , which has the flat (non-SS) hood . I'm replicating an L-78 / L-89 Super Sport and I needed the correct bonnet . Again , I told them up front that I'm going to purchase the desired parts ( bonnet and simulated vents ) ; and again , I received largesse from R-M ! But , I digress ... Lots of low-level thieves around . It's amazing to me the amount of dishonesty and entitlement ! And , no , it's not a generational thing ---- a former "friend" of mine used to open kits , take parts out , purchase an unopened kit of the same model , then return the purchased kit with "missing" parts . He'd get a replacement !that used to irritate me to no end --- that level of entitlement and dishonesty . -
AMT Monte Carlo '70 conversion to '71

Seeing that the G-bodies were based upon the A-bodies , the LS-6 isn't that much of a stretch . -
Revell 1970 Dodge Charger Hemi R/T in F8 Green

That was 26 years ago . I may have the photos in storage , but it'd take a very long time to track them down . -
Revell 1970 Dodge Charger Hemi R/T in F8 Green
1972coronet replied to mademan's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Quite nice ! I'm hoping that you're going to install the red tail stripe --- I've seen a '70 R/T with not only F8 with F8 interior , but it had the V8R stripe ! Looked great ! (This same car also had the rare 'R20' Radio Ready Package as well !) -
Definitely not on the 1971-1978 models . I have a '72 Coronet (imagine that !) sedan --- its rear door glass windows do roll-down , but come-up-just-short of completely opening .

AMT Monte Carlo '70 conversion to '71
1972coronet replied to Sportabout's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
This is the first that I'm hearing regarding the LS-6 being available in the Monte , Super Sport or otherwise . In my 48 years , I've only seen the 360hp LS-5 ( 365hp for 1971 ... in spite of a sever drop in compression ... hmm ... ) as the top offering . A neighbour had a triple-black 1970 SS-454 ; looked just like the ones in the ads from late 1969 --- stunning , and stone-stock . -

Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! Those look so awesome !! -
Very nice ! Corvair tail lamps ? That six-popper looks nice ; where's it from ? What transmission is that ? Looks like a 'Slim Jim' Roto-Matic or a Hydra-Matic (?)

One of the most-obvious fixes that can be made to the body is to file the inside of the body , just-below the doors' upper-edge . For whatever reason , the body's too thick in that region ---- the issue ? The completed interior / platform doesn't want to sit-properly inside the untouched body . I have seen this malady on quite a few completed kits --- this is something that affects the way the car sits ; cockeyed and raised on one side . The other issue is that the windscreen and backlite are undercut and too thick . Other than performing a "roll-your-own" approach via clear acetate sheeting ( Mr. Mike did this very thing on his 1970 conversion --- hopefully he'll chime-in on this ) . Then there's the wonky wipers ( Palmer-esque "blobs" ) and the so-so door handles (an easy fix / replacement) . Wipers ostensibly require complete removal via tedious filing --- whilst avoiding damage to the cowl ...

1/25 AMT '72 Nova SS "Old Pro" Pro Stock
1972coronet replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hart's Parts Resin makes a nice conversion for the Nova-come-Ventura II : https://hartspartsresin.com/product/amt-72-pontiac-ventura-conversion/ While I've not yet purchased this particular set , I have purchased his 1968 Hemi Dart *interior* conversion https://hartspartsresin.com/product/revell-68-dodge-dart-hemi-interior-conversion/ It's a quality piece ; cleanly cast , almost like styrene !
