That Barretts Esophagus deal is no fun (the chronic regurgitation of stomach acid -hydrochloric acid- converts the esophagus to stomach lining!). I was tested for that some 20 years ago, as I had awful acid reflux after eating just about anything. Thankfully the diagnosis was negative; I've been on Prilosec (its generic versions) ever since. How's your recovery coming along, @OldTrucker?

Okay, perhaps my initial assessment is a little harsh. It's not a bad engine; not a bad representation of an SBC. However, its pulleys and belt are incorrect for later model vehicles (albeit it's no different than the SBC included in all MPC Chevrolet kits from, say, c.1967-c.1982). With that being said, it's typical MPC in that area: slim on detail. Certainly, those 'maladies' are easily rectified should one desire to do so (better carburetor, and some fiddling with the pulleys and belt setup). It's just that OOB, it leaves a lot to be desired.

I've had Sciatica in addition to other pains ( note that I'm NOT performing a compare-&-contrast here ) for many years: - Herniated discs in cervical (neck) - Herniated discs in lumbar (lower-back) - Contusions on my sternum and ribs (long since healed, but drastic temperature and humidity changes remind me of their once-great territory) - Sciatica from the aforementioned lumbar damage As @Ace-Garageguymentioned, P.T. and stretching help monumentally. I also perform light weight-lifting (think: one of those machines with a pull-bar, sliding weights, leg lifts, etc.) on the rig in the clubhouse of the apartments where I live. I would imagine that water therapy would work well, too. Even some 'walking' in the shallow-end of a warm pool may work (I've not tested this). "What a drag it is getting old..."

I really don't want to buy an entire kit just for its valve covers, only to seek replacements for them once I build the actual kit (e.g., Monogram 1939 Coupe or Sedan Delivery; 1966 Malibu Street Freak et al.). Does anyone offer either those sweet SS-427 valve covers or perhaps better yet, Cal Customs or Motion rocker covers in 1/24 scale? I thought that the Motion offerings in the 1970 1/2 Camaro would work, but they're too obviously undersized on the Monogram BBC engine. I toyed with cutting the main portion of the Motion 'covers, then cutting the Monogram stock 'covers to the ledge, and adding the 1/25 scale "tops" to the 1/24 scale "ridges"... but, my arthritis tells me "NO!". So, aftermarket it is. Oddly, the Fly Eye air filtre in the 1970 Camaro Phase III is actually larger than the one in the R-M 1970 Motion Chevelle. I'll likely use the Camaro's air filtre on the Monogram Chevelle. Links, please.

Just as bad as those inadequate, contaminated brake fluid, brakes are vehicles I've seen over the decades with a built engine, wide rear rims & tyres, and maybe a blower -- and stock, manual drum brakes at all-fours... with the stock 1966 & earlier brake master cylinder. Street operated. I. Just. Don't. Get. It. I can't recall at this moment if seat belts were mandated by 1964, whether it's model year '64 or calendar year '64. I'd watched a critique of these clowns' antics wherein the critic stated that the driver slammed the gear selector into the park position. To me, it appeared that he popped it into neutral. Ne'er-the-less, the critic's analysis was, The parking pawl was overridden, rendering the de facto 'braking' ineffective... especially in conjunction with the driver's failure to kill the ignition first. Those clowns -- especially the owner-operator -- are lucky the didn't get slapped with involuntary manslaughter! Gross negligence is almost a cinch on those fools.

While I don't disagree with your assessment, I must say that the problem would be much more common across the board (e.g., all manufacturers' kits would have this warpage issue) if the heat of the containers were the cause.
