Moebius model in Purple Power
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Steve. Yes, that’s what I have… super clean. Don’t know why I mix the two names up. I made sure when I bought it, to stay clear of the Purple Power. I guess them both being in a purple jug? Now that I think about it, I think I saw it on an old Donn Yost video, but not totally certain. Thanks for your help Steve, much appreciated. -
I located a 65 Belvedere body for my Black Arrow build, that will need to be stripped. Not sure, but I recall someone stating that the Moebius styrene could crack if soaked in PP. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks everyone. I really like the old Super Stocks the most.
-
And thanks Ron. I knew you would post more pics of your model than I did on my own post.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Glad you like the Old Pro.

Wow, John. Another superb build on the 60s era racers. You always do these cars justice. These are getting harder to come by. I have one sealed, but I’m looking for another to build.

I had extra parts, and wanted to put them to good use. Still have enough to do another Fairlane. The headers are from the Moebius Dyno Don Comet. I wish someone would print these, as I would buy several sets. Excellent for real tight engine and sub frames. I purchased the decals from Bruce right before he sadly passed away. This build was a pretty quick build.

I built this before we moved into the new house. Finally got a chance to take a few pics. Not the greatest light, but I have to get some new poster board. The only add ons are the single headlights, and the stacks. I narrowed the rear platform, as I read someone else did here on the forum. Actually that build got me wanting to do a similar one, using the same colors. I wish I weathered this truck more, and not just the platform. Too shiny IMO.

Wow John. Some more fantastic Super Stock builds! I can’t believe I missed this thread from 2023. I’m planning to do the Black Arrow car as well, and found your thread through performing an online search. Would you post some pics of the other two cars as well?

I wanted to build the Old Pro except I wanted to use the Revell kit for obvious reasons. I remember this kit from when I was young, and IMO, is the coolest box art. Except the actual model was a disappointment. I changed the rear lights in the supplied bumper, and added side markers for the right year. I think the mags are from Moebius, and the big ole honkin AMT scoop was grafted onto the Revell hood. That scoop had to remain on the build.

I finally completed this build today. Had a problem with the rear window, as it wasn’t fitting very well, and I cracked the original one, and had to get another from Pegasus. It still isn’t in all the way at the top, but this is how it will be I suppose. Also the front grill should be flush with the front fenders, but if you try to fix that, the hood and its trim will be off then. Other than that, it was overall pretty fun. Built out of the box, except for the rims, carbs, and wires. Also added a Dana rear to the existing springs.

Nice to see you are using those Fireball race Hemi carbs.

That rear window in this kit is definitely not right. No amount of sanding can fix it in my opinion. It messed up my foiling and still doesn’t sit flush. I might remove it, and just use some clear sheet from the inside. This window is a replacement from Pegasus. I don’t recall having issues with any of the 65 Plymouth cars. How’s does your window fit?

Coming along nicely. Great job on the tires, trans, and engine.

Moebius 65 Coronet A990 decal question.
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I suppose you’re right. This kit, for some reason, is giving me a hard time. I’ve literally spent 2 hours today fiddling with the rear windshield on this build. Plus this is a new window from Pegasus, as the original one cracked, while fiddling with it. It should be totally completed by now, as it’s in the very final assembly. I don’t recall any of the Plymouth sedans I’ve built having this problem. -
Moebius 65 Coronet A990 decal question.
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks. There are two small air cleaner decals, and I do believe you are right, that this one is too. But why would they put this decal on the sheet when that air cleaner you posted, isn’t in the kit? Seems all the decals on this sheet, is for this particular kit. -

Measure twice, and cut once. Work smarter, not harder. Our beliefs don’t make us better people, our actions make us better people. -
Erik replied. $7 is a lot better than a whole kit. Thanks again Gerry for your help. Much appreciated.
-
Thanks Gerry. Yea even if I have to pay for it, but that all depends on how much. In that case, I’d just buy the 65 Plymouth Belvedere kit, and take the window for the Dodge, and have an extra kit.
-
Thanks. I just emailed them now. I have one but I don’t feel like breaking up my California Flash kit just for a window. We will see how it goes. Are they, as a company, pretty good on replacements?

It’s a long shot, but I’m looking for a window for the 65 Moebius Plymouth A990. The new 65 Dodge A990 one that came in the kit is bowed, and will not fit into the frame properly. Thanks
