Thanks. I built that M/T car, but I’d like to redo the fuel lines and the big aluminum shock tower support bracket under the hood. You should build it. You’ll have to cut out the towers, but it’s not hard.

Finally got some decent light to get a few pics. This build reminds me to return to my other early Mopar max wedge builds I have already begun to build. That is, as soon as the TBolts get finished up either tonight or tomorrow.

I have a few photos of the Leal car nearing final assembly. Depending how it all goes, I might have both of these finished with decals later tonight.
-
Thanks for the replies. After this car, and the Leal car are 100% finished, these will be my 16th Thunderbolt build. I still have the Atwater car waiting to get started. My favorite car from the S/S era hands down.

Biggest pet peeves on builds.

Haha... I can honestly admit that my beard hairs have found their way down to the bench. -

What a big improvement your work on the frame rails did for the rear tires. Looking real good so far. -

Ha. My dog is no longer allowed in the model room. Hair is becoming a big problem. -
Resin body slowly dying!!

Yep. I’m finished with them. I’ll use wheels, but I’ve had some loose their shape while seated in the tires. My hoods are all warped also. Anymore, I’ll graft a scoop into a plastic hood. -
Deadliest car in america.

Nice old classic car, with a bad reputation of being “ the deadliest car”? Id be more than happy to take it off the owners hands. -
AMT Dodge Coronet colors.

Ahhh I get it. The colors they are describing are all the parts. I was thinking like the see thru box, that had red, black, white, bodies etc. Thank you. -
Getting some cars done that are sitting on the bench. This is just a tad darker than the Platt car. Close enough, I suppose? All I have left to do is decal this Thunderbolt now. I’m going to get the Butch Leal car completed too. Then, I’ll decal them both together. Then when I get a chance to get pics in good light, (always cloudy) I’ll post them both under glass.

Yea, his death was a surprise. The fact Neil was a very private person, and rarely did interviews, made his death a shock to most fans. As far as the model building goes, the man was a true ARTIST in everything he did. I remember when I purchased my first Rush album over 40 years ago. Man... time sure flies.

I preformed a search, but came up with nothing on the colors. I understand that this kit is available in a few colors, but, does it state on the box to what color kit is inside?
-
Great looking Dodge, Jim. I especially like what you did to the rear panel and tail lights. I just finished one of these kits, and I think the tail lights look horrible. Im going to copy your ideas on my next one I build. Nice job.

Thanks guys. Tamiya gray primer. The color is Tamiya Italian Red TS-8. Testors Gloss Coat clear. Both out of the spray can. I don’t own an airbrush yet. I’d like to get a spray booth first, then maybe an airbrush. It gets frustrating not being able to find the colors I want to use, out of a can. An air brush would make color choice much broader.
-
Finished the Dodge tonight. The tail lights were a tad annoying, and I wish they fit a bit more flush then they do. I’d like to post it under glass, but I’ll have to wait till tomorrow when there is better light.

Came out fantastic Ray. After the little problem with the seat, it was worth it. I like how you removed the paint from the valve cover lettering. I loose many of those filters myself. By the time you sand the mold lines off it, and get the cap to look right, I just make my own anymore.

Looks great. I’m going to eventually try my hand at them. What size rod did you use on yours? What did you use for the collector?
-
Enjoying your progress on this build. Your engine is actually like a smaller model all by itself. The details really make a difference.

Will do! I noticed with the solder, it looses its shape if it’s not handled delicately. I’ll give it a try with the Evergreen rod. You can pretty much tie that stuff in a knot. I have a few more max wedge cars on the bench, and I’m pretty sure the 63 Dodge will get the fender well headers added when the time comes. The style of headers (orange) requires a lot of removal from the inner fenders, because the primaries go straight out from the head. I have inner fenders marked for cutting, but I think a set that exits through a nice, neat hole, in the rear of the inner well would look a lot nicer when completed.

$4??? That’s free in my book. Nice start on the Impala. Nice color choice.

Not sure about the Ramcharger and Maverick kits with the Hemi engines. I have them but I never broke the seals open as of yet. I have about five of the Color Me Gone kits lying around with the max wedge and chassis stolen out of them for other builds.
