I just bought the Polar Lights Kit at Carlisle for $20. I can’t wait to do an engine and suspension upgrade to this kit. Mine is red, and I’m going to just try to polish it out, and maybe add some BMF. I’ve a lot of chassis and engine parts lying around. Looks like it will be a fun build.

Performed a search on the 65 Plymouth, and I came across this thread. This is one bad looking car. I have mine on the bench right now, and planned on the same color scheme from looking at the pic on the box. Glad I came across your build. The stance, wheels, and tires are perfect. This is one of the nicest builds I’ve seen of this car.

They both look amazing. I had a hard time telling if they were models or real cars. Yea, those panel lines are a royal pain. The Belvedere l that I just scribed, was a bit nerve racking, to say the least. The lines were almost non existent.

It’s the Jo-Han Kit, with the Lindberg Color Me Gone chassis.

I wasn’t totally sure myself. I would like to build this car, but I would need the grill you used. If I remember correctly, someone said the hide away grill was the one that is supplied in the AMT kit.

Btw, didn’t that kit have hide away headlights? Is that grill from the 70 kit?

A top fuel dragster wire isn’t even nearly as large in scale as some of the wires these street engines have. -
Sometimes, in many kits, the directions are wrong. Off to a great start. The only two things I don’t like about this kit, is the way the hood fits near the grill, and that the windshield could fit better. Over all, it’s one of my favorite cars, and kits, of all time. I’ve built over a dozen, and plan on a “do over” of the Platt car, that I did years ago. I will definitely be following this build.

Another well done build. Love the color.

I clean the body thoroughly with Dawn and dry. I wipe with a tack cloth. I paint without a shirt on ( bare back). This alone has stopped tiny fibers from getting in the paint. I paint in thin layers, and after every coat, I inspect the paint with my magnifying visor. If there is any thing in the light thin layers, it can easily be removed before the next light coat. This goes for every clear coat also. If you miss a piece or junk or hair or dust, and paint or clear over it... it’s in there. Inspecting and removal as soon as the light coat dries is key. This is all rattle can as I don’t own a air brush.

Still not showing up. The last one I can view is the door panels with the flocking added. Maybe they’ll pop up soon.

The chassis is the same Duplicolor as the body. Light Blue Metallic, no clear. Vallejo Air Aluminum brushed on the tank. Tamiya Semi Gloss Black On all other parts, with MM Chrome enamel dry brushed on the black parts.

Pretty much the Lindberg Color Me Gone. The only thing that isn’t Lindberg is the rims from Fireball.

Yea, I hear ya, Alan. But it’s way better than that rear Moebius put in the 65 Plymouth kit. That rear looks like it came out of a Subaru. At least it can be cut out easily and replaced. I’m not really up on Mopar stuff like I am on GM. Mostly the drivetrain stuff.
