  1. Any progress?
  2. Cool Caddy! Sitting there all black, it reminds me of the hearse in the movie Dead Silence.
  3. Love it...63 is my favorite year for Vettes. IIRC, Danny Coker built a similar 1:1 on Counting Cars.
  4. Looks great. Last 1/43 I tried my hand at drove me nuts. It's been sitting in the box over two years.
  5. Wonderful recreation so far! Peeled paint is always a bummer but, it should be an easy fix. I am sure George is gonna flip over it.
  6. Looks like it's gonna be sweet. But I wander why it doesn't have that side molding on the box but, it does on the kit.
  7. Woah! For a mockup, that's already looking great. Build it your own way but, if it came with a rear spoiler, I'd leave it off. The thing looks mean just like that.
  8. I understand this thread is more geared toward having someone print a design as a service and secondarily about scanning. But I have a major 3D scanning concern in relation. In my shallow, narrow-minded brain, something just tells me that a hand-held 3D scanner would have to have an absolute ton of damping in order to get a quality and consistant scan. Someone mentioned the iPhone app earlier which strengthens my concern. Look at the iPhone panoramic feature. If you move up or down the slightest bit, you get a warped picture. I can't help but think the same would happen to a part printed after being scanned with a hand held scanner.
  9. I just now noticed that says "Special Edition" But the banner says nothing about new tooling. First kit I have actually noticed like that.
  10. Sweet! Thanks for the info!
  11. I found the CruisinUSA Riviera on ebay but, it is missing some parts because it's a bagged up kit. I don't care about the Barris particulars but, can someone familiar with the kit, in general tell me what's missing aside from the wheels and tires? I think it may be missing bumpers and some other body chrome as well. I thought about buying it to make a lowrider but, I ain't buyin' if there are critical parts I can't just grab out of the parts box.
  12. I think that is the ONLY car I would build box stock from the Cruisin USA series...save from maybe trying to scan the stickers and make them decals. Good score!
  13. I quote Matthew Broderrick, as Ferris Bueller. "You can never go too far." A lot of builders strive to be as accurate and true to a 1:1 as possible so, every little bit helps. You may be able to make a kit a bit too complicated for some builders but, you can never go too far in detail, fit, and finish.
  14. Happens to me almost every stinkin' time.
  15. Please delete this reply...half asleep rambling reply here

    Wild Manx !

You took the words right out of my mouth! This is a cool little Manx in its own right.
  17. Those actually did end up looking a lot like shockwaves. I like the way you built the bag brackets off the frame. There was a whole lot of real estate between the "hog's head" and the frame rails. The air ride tightens things up quite nicely and provides for quite a convincing 1:1 style setup. I love bags on bars and that's what I have on my 1:1 S10 as ell. Since you are going for such a realistic look, you might want to think of putting gussets on the bottom of the bars because they bend over time in full scale without them. (With bags on them, I mean.) Then again, it does look great without them!
  18. Just looks like a glorified, overpriced Escape with Terrain-like center dash nav/hvac setup to me. Good fodder for discussion though, Carl!
  19. For some reason, I envision Ron White walking in on Bill and Jeff fighting amongst themselves and saying, "What are you two knuckleheads doing with Larry's sign?!"
  20. Incredible!
  21. Sounds like we got a few more bagged projects to look forward to, from you, in the future.
  22. Yes and no. It's complicated and depends on the application. The Shock wave is an airbag/shock combination unit. It gives a smooth ride. That is the bag setup I suggested instead of the separate coilover in back of axle, bag in front of axle that will be used. But what I think what Blair is going for is more of a performance oriented suspension with the cool factor of air ride. In that instance, Blair's idea will work quite well. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  23. Exploder. I like that! Cool trail rig!
  24. That bagged front end looks pretty sweet. It wouldn't take a whole lotta work to mod the rear shock setup and add some o-rings to make them look like shockwave air assemblies as well.
  25. Yeah, the Hugger was the concept that developed into the Xtreme dually concept and finally made it into production as an Xtreme appearance package to accompany the ZQ8 suspension in 98. Like I said, despite the fact that Round 2 seems to be mainly focusing on the 60s and 70s, they could slightly mold this tool and make two complete kits. And just look how many 90's Silverado based kits they could re-release or reconfigure.
