been hitting the local Hobbytown every week waiting to see them come in, so far no luck.

beats a block of wood and a three-view plan on paper.

they are beautiful kits (and your's is a fine example) and they're so good to super-detail and accurize... those horns could be "fixed" at this point by finding some small plain chrome hubcaps to put over the ends as "covers" such as found on semi trucks. maybe Duesenberg didn't put them on, but a smart owner may have at some point. my gripe with Monogram in this kit and the other Classics is the mold seam on the sidemount spare tire covers..... no easy way to deal with that, but fortunately the molds are well-aligned and the seam is slight. again; your's is a beauty. i had one i built circa 1979 or 80 and gave to a girlfriend.... long gone....

love that cast frame rail.... this was NO lightweight cycle-car.

that is cooler than the other side of the pillow. excellent job! -
man, don't you know you can't post pictures of real cars here? seriously, though; that's a beauty of a build and it looks more real than my 1:1 used to....

beauty of a car. i've known this brand for decades, loved them from the first day i saw one in Antique Automobile Quarterly.

the page comes up with an option to translate and it says exactly what Christian posted. that is going to be a hot seller IMHO. about time a decent Golf came out. -

okay, the site is horrible; the responses in the comments typical trash talk, and nothing really informative or humorous. -
other countries don't often enjoy quite the same level of customer protection that we do.... judging from the article, Chrysler is fobbing off some real BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH on the Australians (and, quite possibly, us as well) and there's little recourse for Australian customers. offering to buy back the car at half the retail price seems ridiculous to me, but then again, i have little experience dealing with new-car purchases as i practically LOATHE and despise most modern cars anyway. if he was able to convince people to help him buy out the contract on the car, good for him, people put donation jars up everywhere here for everything..... Jeep hasn't represented it's identity truthfully for over a decade anyway. they should all say Dodge on them.

my Dad had a Fairlane 500 Galaxie Town Sedan (quite a mouthful) that he gave me when he went back north a few years back; i did a lot of work on it keeping it driveable, eventually replacing the tired 352 with a later 390, installing dual exhaust, upgrading the brakes, etc etc... we drove it a bit but it never got the use it needed, so eventually i sold it off. there are numerous small details that differentiate Fairlane and 300 base models from the late '59 Galaxie series that can and do catch '59 owners out when hunting parts... for a full size (and i MEAN full size) car, it drove well and handled well and stopped quickly even with ancient drum brakes; no rattles or shakes, and it felt like riding in a bank vault, not a rubbermaid trashcan.... dang. now i want more than ever to get my 1:1 1956 Fairlane finished.

that "ginormous" badging made sure people knew you'd laid out long green for a Chrysler New Yorker and not a Dodge. i need to get working on restoring the collection of Johan kits i used to have... right now, i think i only have a '64 Polara hardtop from the last "Recharger" issue, and a '65 Rambler American promo hardtop. looking forward to seeing more on these projects.

outstanding! and picture-proof positive that some kits don't need full wiring, etc... they come out RIGHT, right out of the box, when a great builder takes charge.

it would make an excellent music box if you could find a silent compressor to run it. -
"Guilty Pleasures" Kits?
62rebel replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
AMT's '49 Ford; '53 F100; '49 Mercury; Old Pro Nova; '36 Ford; '40 Ford; '29 Ford "A" Roadster; '66 Ford Galaxie...... i've built some of them so many times i seldom refer to the instructions anymore. often, i go through the sprues and remove all the parts i don't intend to use and put them in my parts boxes. i have premixed paint for Ford Flatheads, a mixture of bronze and green i think, that i have to replace every couple of years... but i still have no absolute fix for the poor fit of the front fenders on that dang Nova...... Revell should reissue ALL of their "Early Iron" series Monogram stuff in '70's boxing. -
clear, mild and sunny here. won't see this "snow" of which you speak, until January probably.

excellent worksmanship for a semi-working model, i admit, but there are other builders making functional running engines. it is beautiful, and a work of machinists' art. -
i'll tell you what telltales lead me to real: the trim strips on the decklid/rumble seat are far too fine and even; the bumper brackets are too thin to not be 1:1 steel; the tires do show weighting; the door handles, hinges, windshield frame, and other bright items are too fine to not be 1:1... but the lighting on that aluminum top almost had me fooled into thinking it might be Wingrove-style work. and finding a photo of the real deal was a definite search. good one, Harry!

beautiful..... i vote real.

shoot; my post made it seem like this KIT was a bear... it was NOT, modifying it was! the kit goes together almost like Lego's.
