First, nice builds!! Those slicks look good. However, other than buying a Revell kit and junking the kit while keeping the tires, is there a source for these tires? I'd like to use them! Chris

I’ve got those comp resins tires too and mine’ll need a ton of sanding too. Personally I think they are too big for 70s cars, although a lot of people use them for that. I’ve used Stevens International repops of the Revell one piece 70s slicks but they seem a bit small...Rhe pix are not perfect for this discussion, but the Pinto has the Revell repops, and the Mustang II has the big AMT slicks.

AMT and MPC Please Put Out Significant Kits
Chris in Berwyn replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
What dilemma are you referring to? I thought you said race kits are what sells so that’s what they should be making. Given your favorable comments about the kit I am surprised you didn’t buy one Also, I hate to have to break the news, but this release of the kit does not have a clear body. It’s molded in petty blue. It was going to be clear, but I seem to recall that they couldn’t fully reverse mold changes made over the years and plastic wouldn’t flow into the mold properly to get a swirl-free clear body. -
That is nice!

I’m not very familiar with the car, but this slixx sheet has part of what you need. http://www.slixx.com/8069.htm?id=5513

I need some tools, tool chest and such and this looks good to me. As long as the price isn’t outrageous I’ll pick a set up. -

Regarding the AMT Lightning. I bought one when they came out, but I was never sure why. I am a serious builder, but when our friends’ boys got into rocket powered Estes cars, the dads decided to make their own with bigger engines, and the Lightning was my choice to soup up. And it turned out to be best engineered and the fastest! As it happens, I just harvested the seats to go into a Ford custom, and I think it’s got some other nice parts that may end up elsewhere. -
Ollie's strike again

I forgot - they had Deoras and Silhouette a too. -
Thanks for posting. I saw elsewhere a '99 Mustang was chosen as Best in Show. Do you know if that one is the orange Mustang that you have a few pix of on the first page of pics? I was at the show and my personal favorite was the #43 Daytona Pro Mod. Thanks again for the pics!

Ollie's strike again
Chris in Berwyn replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Cherry Hill NJ store tonight had what is shown above except no 60 Vette. They also had the 1/20 Camaro, assorted Nascar, and the Revell prepaints and some Lindberg stuff from a few months back. -

OK, I need to hit Ollie's. The appearance of so much AMT/MPC stuff makes me wonder how much volume Round2 really sells at full price. They seem to have a lot of merch to liquidate, but maybe that is their business model - sell as much as possible at full price, then maybe (and I mean maybe) break even on what needs to get liquidated. They must have had waaay too many - they clearly didn't see a need to keep them in inventory to fill orders. -
AMT 40 willys what decals are in this kit ?

Chuck Boerner will be selling decals for the 73 Custom Body funny car. The car is painted as a Challenger but it is a Cuda body. I’ve attached a pic of the car and of Chuck’s decals. I’ve got an old Good Stuff Cuda body. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether that’s better, worse or the same as using the Competion Resins Cuda for this build?

Rochester NY club
Chris in Berwyn replied to Ryansrust6's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
There is a club in Fulton, NY. Its probably a bit far for you, but you should get in touch with them and see if they know of a club in Rochester. Here is a flyer from their show last year with some contact info on it -

How many times can Chad say “cool” in a 10 minute video? It’s out of hand! But, I saw a rumor on another board that he’d be speaking in code in this month’s video, and the number of times he’d say cool would be equal to the number of drag Pirhanas that were built! -
Looks nice!

That came out well!!! Beautiful!

AMT MPC Put Out the Good Stuff!
Chris in Berwyn replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am about 99.9 percent sure you are trolling us and having a good laugh when we all take the bait. And now, here I am taking the bait. The problem with your statements above is the manufacturer is not giving anyone anything. If they were, they could give people what’s good for them. But they are selling the merchandise, and if people don’t want it they are not going to buy it no matter how good it is for them. For example, Frosted Flakes, which are loaded with sugar, is the number 2 selling cereal in the US. Corn Flakes are a healthier product and aren’t even in the top 10. -
Very nice!!! The box mentions that the tires are "low profile." Quite a difference between what qualified as low profile in 1966 vs. today!!!
