This is reminding me of back when I was 12 or 13 and I’d open the box to a certain smell all that plastic had and these parts - they look so familiar and are baked into my brain - esp. the one piece tinwork. Looking fwd to seeing this complete.

Looks good to me! That body first came out when I was in college. I thought the Grand Prix was the best looking, followed by the Cutlass

That is a nice build!

I was thinking I wish I’d tried that body work you did, but then realized the decals would not have fit! And I need to get another coat of clear in this. But given the weather I’ve been doing more outdoor things in my free time. I do want to get this finished though. -
First, I wish I had the nerve to try and pull that off - it looks great! What did you use to fill in the hood - sheet plastic and filler? You might want to see if there is a way to open the side windows up vertically - Ramchargers and this Custom Body car seem to be like that. https://www.google.com/search?q=custom+body+dart+funny+car&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#imgrc=5ER1EfInBxllaM:

Those are actually kit decals except for the white stripe on hood, roof and trunk. I am planning to put more clear on today - the decals have caused me some problems!! -

I am from Rome but my dad wouldn’t take my brother and I to U-R when Phil was running. Only got to go there once as my dad hated and still hates loud things. -

Thanks. The wheels are Alclad Chrome, but do look darker than other things I have hit with Alclad - I was trying to go a bit lighter on the Alclad to see how it turned out. The fronts are from Comp Resins, so I did the fronts and back wheels so they would match. -

All was well but I applied too much Tamiya clear at once which attacked the decals. Have another set which I think I am going to need. This will be sitting in the pits and not getting to NNL East. -

Virtually everything painted. Decals next. The extra gray area at the rear made masking easier. Since I’m doubling up decals hopefully the white decal sections will look the same whether they are over gray or black parts of the car. I’d like to get it done for NNL East - wish me luck! -
I had this issue once. To try to fix it (worked fairly well) I took a new X-acto blade and poked holes in the clear film and worked Micro Sol or Set back behind the decal. It didn't entirely fix things, but it made the tires presentable.

I bought the tacky glue at Michaels, altho AC Moore and I think Jo-Ann fabrics have it too. I'd think Hobby Lobby would too. Chris -
I have had the same problem. I emailed and they sent me a few more sets which weren't any better until I coated them. Their advice was also to use very hot water out of the tap - not sure it really helped but I followed that advice. They said do not heat water on the stove - that is too hot.

I’ve got a couple of the old Revell Custom Body FCs, but decided to use a recent Ed McCullough Duster version for my build. I’ll use a set of the CB decals from the kit. The kit body isn’t accurate for the CB car as it’s a Duster , not a Dart Sport. The real car also had the windshield and roof moved back with bigger front wheel wells. I didn’t want to try moving the roof, so I moved the engine forward to at least get it sticking out the windshield like the real car. I flattened out the hood to get rid of the ridge Dusters have, and I’ve also added a bit of a beak to the grill and will use a grill decal from Slixx. Lastly I’m using Comp Resins wheels and am in the midst of opening up the front wheel wells. Im hoping to have it at NNL East. Thx to Charlie at Pro Tech and John Teresi on the tip to use Aileen’s Tacky Glue to mock this up. First time I’ve done that and boy does it help!!

I found Marco Cruz’s Facebook page but couldn’t find the 2019 Philly NNL pix. Can you post a link? Thx.

Getting the NASCAR bug, looking for decals
Chris in Berwyn replied to Fat Brian's topic in WIP: NASCAR
And the orange on Petty cars was day glo, so the decals you have may not be too bright!! -
Cool engine!! On a semi related note, I was looking at my MPC/Round 2 Kalitta Mustang FC today, and the body decals say M and H, and the slicks are pad printed “Goodyear.” Back to McEwen, it would be nice if R2 reissued the Nitro Vette with McEwen English Leather decals.

I had a lot of fun building up the generic kit. It doesn't represent a real Dyno Don car, but I've seen them build as the DD car and they look cool!
